What they did wrong?
They pissed me off by getting more and more invasive. I am a paying consumer. I had $50 ready to give them. Now I don't. Ergo, they did something wrong.
I had a problem where the NVidia wouldn't always negotiate to gigabit on boot, only after a 'Repair', and the Marvell worked fine. Other than that they seem the same to me.
As far as wear and tear.... I ran one nonstop at 12v for about 9 months, and then about 3/4 7v and 1/4 12v for another 2 years before I retired it in favor of something quieter. The durability doesn't seem to be an issue.
Probably the easiest way to do it is install WoW at home and completely patch it, and then burn the entire directory to a dvd or some such device - WoW doesn't need any registry entries to work.
I will never ever order from SilverPC again. The most horrible buying experience I've ever had! Didn't ship for weeks, no responses to emails, no answer on their phone contact number, cancel order button doesn't even work!
I'd feel really bad buying a whole case just for the mobo tray...
No, but I personally don't care what case it's supposed to fit, because I'm making a wood one of my own to put it in :P I just want a tray to get it in/out easily and not have to mess with cutting slots for the cards to fit in! :P
I've been watching So-trick comptuer sfor a while, but they never have that bloody tray in stock! Is there anywhere else to buy a motherboard tray, any style, besides them and Mountain-mods for a reasonable price? (MM Is a bit too expensive to justify, I could buy a whole cheapo case with a mobo...
I use these on my case, and yes they work, as far as I can tell, theres almost no reduction in airflow, but there is *no* dust after 2 months in my case, and I used to have to dust it weekly... still gota vaccuum the stockings pretty often tho :P
OK, so they work great, but how do you guys keep em taunt enough on the fan face to not get sucked into the blades? If I jsut slip like a little tube of nylons over the fan, it's not tight enough, and gets sucked too close and whines/rips :P
Wood might not be completely out as a building material. If you use small bits of aluminum angle to bolt the corners together that saves you the worry of splitting the ends of the wood, especially with plywood. You can't get much cheaper and easy to work with if you have few tools than wood...
Yea, thats what I'm doing for now, but I'd rather have the spec sheet, if one exists :P Less cahnce of fubaring a not-so-cheap aluminum panel hehe. Not to mention I get free CNC time if I do it in all 1 shot, but I may not if I have to come back
Edit - On a related note, does anyone know...
Hi everyone :) Couple questions about PSUs. Well, one really. Is there any online documentation about hold locations in relation to the cutout for a PSU? I'm constructing a custom case and I don't want to have to buy a new sheet of aluminum just because I got the hole locations wrong :D
Thing was - it WAS posting fine, and the windows startup sound was playing - every indication that windows was booting fine, just video wasn't being displayed. In any case, it seems to be fixed now :)
I have a KX7-333R on a secondary machine (Was my old main mobo till I went to an NF7-S). It's been working beautifully for me since a couple months after the board came out in various machines. Just recently, it froze up in Call of Duty (Friend was over playing) and then wouldn't show any video...
CNC machines cost a bundle, even used. The problem you'd be facing is that you need a fairly large table to fit the whole window on - Large tables/Travel = Money, lots of it.
And it's damn hard to find a used CNC of the size you want :P
Btw, if anyone has any good sites for used CNC router...
So I recently upgraded from a KX7-333r (Great board, still running in a secondary machine) to a NF7-S. Amazing peice of equip, with one tiny drawback that i didnt even discover till the last few days ( ~3mo after purchase) - It doesnt want to output any subwoofer channel - I'm using some...
I had a very similar problem with a set of Altec Lansing 4.1 speakers - If I recall correctly, reinstalling the drivers fixed it. Or maybe that little program, nvswap, from nvidia's site, was what did it - I don't clearly remember, was messing with both the same day :) (Using NF7-S)
On my Built by ATI 9600xt, I can push max about 575/350(700) with my temps ~32C under load.... This is running opencase in a basement where the ambient is <45F though, so take someone elses word on temps ;p
My Built by ATI card is runing 570core/350(700)mem
I'm pretty happy with it :) Might help that my ambient temp in my room is about 45F and I run witht eh case open tho ;) Nothing doen to the heatsink except to add some AS3 to the stock heatsink, no lapping or anything. Tempted to get ramsinks...
I'd love to know also. It's cold in my basement, but I kinda doubt it's keeping my proc @ 60f (case sides off) under load
Then again, I did find an exploded (frozen) can of pop there a couple mornings this winter
Basically, I want to build myself an aluminum cube case, light and spacious, because paying $300+ for a prebuilt one just doesn't appeal.
Motivation - My current huge tower case sucks a butt. It's more of a couple of loosley riveted parralellograms - My mobo sits crooked, the AGP/PCI cards...
I've been looking around, but I can't find anywhere where I can buy reletivley cheap sheet aluminum in quantities <500lbs :)
Wish the search funtion wasnt disabled, I *know* this has been answered before, I jsut can't remember the company :(
If it's in SE michigan, near detroit, all the...
Heres the deal. I have some cheapo Altec Lansing AVS500 4.1 ( http://gear.ign.com/articles/306/306187p1.html ) and I just got a brand new NF7-S v2.0.
I plug in the front/rear speakers where the mobo manual says, run the nforce speaker config wizard, but no rear speaker sound at all.
The...
What motherboards do you guys have? Theres been some issues with 9600 line and VIA and SiS chipsets - The best solution is turn down the AGPx (On my KX7-333r, 4x max, have to run it at 2x) and if the problem persists then clock your system down (Mine is 100% stable at 180fsb, with a gf3, I have...
