Not enough money (new ram was more than expected and just started uni) so traded my gt and a hard disk (2.11gb and about 10 years old :p ) for a friends near silent gt (I think I got a good deal) :( ...one of my questions was whether or not the motherboard would like its audio being cut...

Pictures will be in about a month (need the money for two slot cooler and riser). Haven't ordered a two slot cooler yet but got my new card now :D And the gf2 did play doom III quite well...and made me respect my 6800gt more :)

Ok im using a ribbon riser card to move the pci slot up to fit in a duel slot graphics card (have a single one but may add duel slot cooler) I would have to remove the audio from my sn95gf to fit the pci card in (audigy2zs so no worries. Can I just dremel these off without the motherboard...

Im liking the 6800gt Look at benchmarks then decide by performance today of games you want to play. Both will play tommorows games.

Second the 64-bit Doubling the ram wont give you a performance increase greater than what your sacrificing in my opinion

I almost choked when I read this :D Basicly 256mb of ram is no quicker so your normally paying alot more for nothing 64 bit memory bus is very very bad in a graphics card. Maximun as a minimum I would say as even halving it is crippling! 5700 perhaps

Unreal was good (well the multiplayer against bots - the single player got boring after a while)

Test with your own eyes Play the game - do you notice a loss of visual qualitity? Is it worth the loss for those extra fps? You need to use your own eyes for this one :D

Build your own I would say. You get a better deal and one which is suited to your needs. I liking the new Amd64's so would recomend maybe the 3200 for you ($270.00 ), just need a motherboard ($150), case($100), harddrive($100), graphics card(X800 $450) and ram (1gig of value ram - $200)...

The 32 bit chips will not be disabled 64 bit chips from what I understand They are not getting many chips onto a die at the moment and this is where these 32 bit processor come into play. You can fit a lot more (especially with the reduced L2). Yields are higher so they can sell more.

There is an amd 64 posts which would be useful to read. Its the one I started had links to all the amd 64 small forms I could find. Also look at the G5 post, its got a very sexxy socket 939 ;) The xt should fit in all as well as your sound card. Most have a single pci slot You willing...

Its not that its so great timings its that with DDRII being the next supported memory type good timings were supposedly gone for ever as the better chips have been phased out.
