Onboard or PCI card? Try a different slot if PCI. Are you able to connect to the LAN and not the Internet? If you haven't done so already, reset everything and see what happens.
Not the answers I wanted to hear. LOL. Sounds like your mobo or processor is possibly on its way out. Use the Asus Probe and look at what your voltages and temps are doing.
Edit: Damn. It is late and my grammar sucks. Time for bed.
I'll second Home Depot or Lowes for cable. It's like 11 cents a foot or so for Cat5e. I did 3 rooms in my old house for ~$20 or so. You can get a good crimp tool online for $15 also.
Just for future reference...another good format tool is autoclave. I use it for almost every format I do. It doesn't take very long, it works well, it's free and extremely simple to use. Good luck.
Like stated above. When you see people post numbers like 2-2-2-6 or 3-4-4-7, they are refering to the memory timing. You can adjust these in the BIOS. The numbers each represent something different. They refer to: CAS Latency - RAS to CAS Delay - RAS Precharge - Active to Precharge.
CAS...
How secure do you need the folder to be? Are you just trying to hide pr0n or something? You can make folders hidden. The average user will never find it. Right click the folder, then change it to hidden under properties. Then go to tools>folder options>view tab>click "do not show hidden...
My brother and I have similar hardware and very close processor speed at stock clock. I have a 36GB Raptor and he has a 7200RPM WD 60GB drive. My PC loads XP Pro much faster than his loads XP Home. I don't mind restarting because it only takes 20 seconds or so to reboot. My old PC took at...
I have a similar setup to you. Just run the best timings possible with the RAM. I currently have my ram at 2-2-2-6. Kingston rates the RAM at 3-4-4-7. I currently have my FSB at 231. That puts my processor at 3.0 with the 1:1 ratio. No errors or heating problems. I could go further with...
Very true...my parents house finally has it available. I signed them up earlier this week. I have had high speed for 5 years now other than living at home during summers away from college. I have no complaints with the current status of Internet speeds.
No...other than the fact you will have a nice fresh install. I have tried to test a regular windows format vs autoclave. I noticed no difference in performance. I still use autoclave for most formats though.
It's lighter than the SP-97 and it is much better than stock. I have better temps now oc'd than I did with stock clock and HSF. I recommend the Zalman.
I agree that it does make a difference. I just don't think it is super noticeable. Maybe I am just too used to my PC. What are some good tests to "see" hyper threading work? I have tried to do two separate processes but can't really notice anything above and beyond due to the HT Processor...
You are correct. I have a 2.6C with 800MHz FSB and my brother has a 2.53 @ 533 FSB. Our Machines benchmark very similar at stock speeds. Mine only has a slight advantage do to newer parts and other small factors. Now with my machine at 3.0GHz and the FSB @ 924 my machine is noticably faster...
Did you use a floppy drive and press F6 to set it up? Glad you got it working. FWIW I never did anything that everyone just stated to do. I distinctly remember putting my system together, powering up to the BIOS, changed some settings and information, booted to the CDROM and installed...
Are you setting up RAID? You don't need to press F6 at setup if your mobo has native SATA ports. As long as you have it setup in the BIOS to detect the drive. I didn't have a floppy when I build my system and XP went on my Raptor just fine. Try to setup without pressing F6 and see if a HDD...
Quick Question...did you check the little box in System Properties that says "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"? I believe you have to tell Zone alarm to allow incoming connections on port 3389 too. Good luck.
Edit: Are you sure of your IP address too?
I use FairUse and it works perfect. I haven't really noticed low volume after ripping them. Maybe I'll rip something this evening and see if I can notice volume differences. I like FU because you can go frame by frame and make perfect clips from movies. You can make the file size whatever...
Does anyone know if Circuit City will ever or does carry WD SATA HDD's? I have a bunch of gift certificates from Christmas for CC but I only want to buy SATA drives. Any info would be great. Thanks.
Master should be the drive with the OS on it. Do what ever combo you want with the drives. You can clone your old drive to the new one. Or you can just add the new drive and keep it as storage. It's all personal preference.
Just type:
I. asdf (Return)
II. asdfg (Return)
*At this point it will add a III automatically. Just press backspace and then type a) or whatever and space it where you want it. Then when you press return it will line up b) or whatever on the line below.
Does that make sense?
Madden 2004 works just fine for me with Cat 3.8's. It glitches out sometimes after I save a game, but as far as gameplay and graphics it works just fine.
My 36 gig Raptor is quiet. The only part of my computer that makes any kind of noticable noise is the Zalman at full blast on the CPU. Maybe I just got lucky and got a quiet one. It is honestly no louder than any other HDD I have ever owned.
Your *chipset* drivers should be easy to update. Just download the most recent and install.
To flash the *BIOS* on that mobo, you can make a bootable floppy and do it following the directions in the user manual. There is more than one method of doing it. Pick whichever seems easier to you...
Just put the input to S-Video on the control panel. Make sure your cable is plugged to the video out on the camera. That's how I have done it before. Good luck.
Agh...I really hope Madden is not discontinued. I have read some threads about people not liking Madden 2004 but I personally think that it is pretty good. I got it for $15 and play it every now and then. I like how you can adjust everything, create players and teams, and control everything...
