I don't really understand because i want a 160 gb hd, and its just as fast as an ata/ide hd even though its sata

smaller cable size for better airflow.

soon there will be other features like command queue and soon will be better bandwidth.

Do you have any good links to read up on the future of SATA?

yes currently there is no performance advantage to your typical 7200rpm SATA HDD, and while the standard itself promises greater data integrity and efficiency the actual implementation as it currently stands brings those advantages into doubt

PS Native Command Queuing will have minimum impact on the average user, and the difference in interface speed is nearly pointless for a single HDD
