I had an orinco based card a while back, it got butt-raped by cordless phone traffic (I live in an apartment). The newer one I got that cost half as much (dunno what chipset it is) has a much better connection to the same router.

I've got a tualatin chip that I had to de-arch the mount clip as it sheared the fingers off my tualatin adapter. on a standard pIII, anything from a socket 7, socket A or socket 370 hsf will mount up.

I'll probably get a better boost if I can manage to get it into a 133 mhz bus. I can't even get it to post at anything above 1.6 ghz but I think it has to do with my adapter's manual voltage settings, being that the bios can adjust voltage but it's gotta get that far first. I just gotta yank...

update: will do 1.6 stable again but no 1.8ghz *BANGS HEAD ON DESK* even w/ huge voltage bump. Won't even post at anything over 1.6, but 1.6 is stable. also has fussy pci slots. :shrug: Also won't run any 3d marks, stock clock or overclocked, but I think that's just software/driver...

Well I put it all together and sheared the fingers right off my tualatin to standard PIII adapter. Good thing I had a spare. I de-arched the retainer clip to compensate for the hight and its all good (proper re-tempering, not just a bend).
