I think you misread me. While all of those cloned my SSD, none of them could make it bootable. This wasn't an issue with the controller yet.
Once I used Macrium to fix my boot issues, which Diskpart and bootrec /fixmbr etc. also failed to do, then Windows booted.
I then decided I wanted...
I removed the Vertex Turbo, but did not switch the Intel port.
In either case, Macrium Reflect Pro is a winner!
I used its included WinPE booter loaded onto a USB stick. In it, it has a Startup Fixer kind of like windows but much more effective, obviously. I've tried manually doing all the...
I've tried every option listed here except for the ones mentioned in Macrium post. Are they supposed to be [H]ardcore or something? Downloading my free trial now. Heres to hoping it works!
Been at this for a few days.
System:
Going from 60GB Vertex Turbo to 240GB Intel 520
Things failed...
Hey guys, I know it's a bit of a long shot but long story short I need to cool an old card of mine. I'm looking for any 5870 waterblock, nobody seems to stock these anymore. Let me know, PM is best! Thanks!
Reference design
XSPC or EK preferred.
No universal solutions please.
I know, but all the posts and other related info lead me to believe I got a bad/dying graphics card.
That or ATi had really shitty drivers. It would have saved a lot of aggravation if I had just figured my Patriot stick died on me. Really odd symptoms. Typically the system would only crash when...
Hi All!
Just wanted to post this here in case anyone else is having the same troubles I did.
I was getting a LOT of BSOD with my 5870 drivers apparently to blame. Seemingly random bsod too. Whether it was 1+hour of BFBC2, or hanging out on the desktop at idle, with growing frequency.
I...
I have an A125. it takes a few more clicks of vcore, but I've had it up to 4.5ghz using evga e-leet. probably room for more.
for the voltage, it doesn't run that hot.
I'm @ 1.4v for regular / gaming /movie encoding use, but my watercooled temps are comparable to most others I've seen using...
how longs this deal going to last? maybe pick up 2 for a cheap crossfire setup. I've heard love/hate stories and hate to sink a bunch of money into quality monitors to find i hate it.
thats huge for 1.275 vcore. What are your other voltages?
reseat heatsink and reapply thermal compound. I can't speak to how good Coolermaster stuff is, but I've seen most using Arctic Silver 5. Don't use too much/little either. Grain of rice works for me.
I see.
Always made me wonder if I did something wrong with my loop.
I'm using a triple 120 radiator (waterflow should not be an issue with twin MP655) with the same waterblock that is also dedicated solely to CPU at this point, but my HT is still on. I have heard dropping HT on average loses...
turn up the fans on the cards. my issues were completely heat related, and symptoms exactly the same as yours. I know they sound like jets, but it's what it takes for stability. I have a mild OC on my card to 900mhz and it crashes if I forget to turn up the fans when gaming. Adding a waterblock...
you should use LINX because i7's memory is controlled in the cpu as well. Using linx, you can stress the entire CPU and get a real idea of how high your temps are going to go.
usually on RAM you need to manually set the voltage, sometimes the timings, and then the clock as well. You can typically achieve a nice high stable overclock on 2ghz ram. My system can handle the temps for 4.4+ but my RAM poops out by then because I'm pushing way over the 1600 it was rated for...
I'm starting to think people are reporting their CPU temps, and not CORE temps. I just don't see how people are getting sub 60 degree loads with the same/similar setups I do, unless I measure with the cpu temp. By using that metric, I'd be getting 27c idle, 55c load, which is NOT the same as a...
sweet chip. I wish I only need 1.22 to be stable @ 4. That means you could probably get up to 4.2-4.3 really nicely.
I've read once somewhere (so take with salt) that CPUZ isn't completely accurate @ measuring voltage? I'm not sure, but it's good enough for me. I would take the higher...
in the 80's is getting too toasty. I think in the 70's under heavy load that your CPU won't typically see anyways is a good place to bet (like P95 of Linx).
These days, the trend is to not use any type of coolant or "non-conductive" fluid. They tend to gum up after a period of use and are a PAIN to clean out of your waterblocks. Using regular distilled water, a biocide (PTNuke or silver coil), and UV or colored tubing seems to be the best route.
I...
If your temps are OK, then you should be good to go. Some chips are just more voltage hungry than others. My 4.2 took quite a bit to be stable as well.
I bought an XFX 5870, and need to watercool it. I ran across a couple threads when looking for waterblocks stating how some XFX 5870's fit and some don't because they moved to a new revision PCB? How Do I check which revision I have?
Thanks!

I will try the FOV trick; I kind of remember doing that, but in CS because someone said it makes the experience better. I just wonder why it didnt happen on my first playthrough (years ago). Also played a couple hours of CS last night for nostalgia too. Didn't feel anything.
I feel like...
Couple other changes I made, but are probably more than necessary.
VCore is @ 1.4 edit-W/out VDroop
DIMM @ 1.65 (But this is stock for my RAM, I wouldn't play with this much?)
QPI PLL @ 1.4
CPU PLL @ 1.8v
IOH VCore 1.4v
CPU VTT 1.38v (+200mv or so in BIOS iirc)
IOC/ICH/I/O 1.65v
ICH 1.25v
But...
Also, being p95/linx stable is just for assurance, IMO. My E8400 was @ 4.05ghz for years without being tested for stability, then when I did find out about stress testing, it failed to pass and I adjusted to compensate.
So really, P95/Linx is really for finding out if your system can put up...
In my experience, a non-uniform reading of temperatures is normal in the neighborhood of a 4-5 degrees. Typically, the cases where people are getting uniform temperatures are ones in which they Lap their processors for flatness. AFAIK, there is to be no lapping done on waterblocks, though some...
So I was looking through my Steam list and felt a bit of nostalgia seeing HL2. I loaded it up and played for about 30 minutes, but then I started feeling sick! WTF! I've never felt motion sickness on a boat/plane/car much less in a game? I've played it before and didn't get this. I had to shut...
Yeah, IDK what happened that fixed mine. Wish I could help you. Maybe install chipset drivers and whatnot? I think thats what my computer did. HDD light was going nutts, and I restarted when it settled down.
OC Genie? I'd stick with making bios adjustments. I've heard that you can corrupt OS's...
ditto. I was expecting a bulletproof easy overclock to 4.0ghz and beyond, because that was what was being said.
It didn't take any extreme measures, but it wasn't so easy.
also, did you boost VTT? On our evga boards, it wont ask what voltage, but plus mv. Take it up a few notches. I started at...
I had something like that as well. My 930 was reported as a 920 with only a max multi of 20 (no turbo). It went away after some updates and a restart. IDK if that's what fixed it, but it's gone now.
