BioShock Infinite

This shit is making me sick. So you want me pre purchase your game, and then turn right around and give you another 20.00 for content I have not even seen yet? All in the hopes that it's good.

I have to agree......the game should be 100% complete.

Even HAVING a "season pass" means the developer and publisher have content ready to go, but the money they can earn parceling it out outweighs just including it in the game.

It's like a gamble, pay 20 for all three DLCs or 15 bucks a piece..........what if they or the game sucks........you lost the bet, if the DLCs are awesome, you made out.

Just give me the whole damn game.

The problem is, unless you get a large (30% or more) discount on the Season Pass, there is virtually no reason to buy it before the DLC is announced and reviewed. Why? Because you can buy the Season Pass at any time REGARDLESS.

That said, I have purchased a few Season Passes and overall I haven't been super happy with the value. All of them I got on a sale, but so far all the DLC that has been released with them doesn't feel like $15-per value. In fact, out of the games I've bought Season Passes for I think I've only played part of ONE of the DLCs for ONE of the games.

I'll go to the casino if I want to gamble. Plus, the casino has more prowling cougars.

As someone who worked on the game for a bit as part of an internship, I suppose I have a bit of bias, but ruling the game out because IGN gave some other shit game an awkward score?

Especially when it's a great IP like Bioshock, and the premise, obviously for everyone who did not take part in creating it, just SOUNDS bad ass itself.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. So this is where we all are now.

if true - you have a conflict of interest and yes that's where we are now because its the same developers that have screwed people out of their money countless times in the past by releasing crappy games so they have none but themselves to blame.

Are you serious? Irrational is probably one of the top developers in the industry and Ken Levine is without a doubt one of the best creative directors out there....
I think your getting publisher and developer confused....

Have any of these games screwed anyone over?

Bioshock
SWAT 4
Freedom Force Series
Tribes:Vengeance
System Shock 2

Tribes: Vengeance is debatable. It wasn't terrible but it was no Tribes 2 successor, either.

I agree that overall they have a reputation for making pretty good quality games, though.

No key yet either. Pretty sure I will sell or trade mine and wait for the sale with all dlc in a year or whatever. I can play the waiting game for most any recent release bc there is no way in hell I will pay $60 + for season pass dlc bullshit.

Well I don't think I have a conflict of interest, but I generally like most games out there. It has to be downright AWFUL for me to not like a game.

They haven't.

So I am curious--does anyone else thing the graphics in this game looks like a disney animation/pixar cg hybrid of sorts? Just looks completely out of place to me in a video game.

Also, does anyone know how pc support is going to be? Anyone know if it'll have SS2-type classes and upgrade paths etc?

I have only played the second bioshock---never finished it. Complete turd of a game. The action was not bad, in fact i enjoyed it. But in order to have a decent FOV, i had to make a macro, bind it to my mouse, then hit that macro EVERY time i was done using iron-sights, as well as after any cutscene. IIRC, the acceleration/sensitivity wasn't that bad without vsync.

As long as this new one isn't plagued with consolitis issues like the above, and has some interesting upgrade mechanics to it (DX/DX:HR/SS2 type stuff), should be sweet!

Graphically it looks like it has the same style as the first Bioshock and probably Dishonored as well. Sort of that disproportionate cartoon look, but not cartoony in a kiddy way.

PC support should be good. I wouldn't expect to see classes and too much in terms of RPG elements. Basically you choose weapons and powers and combine them however you like for combat. I don't think there's any sort of stats system or inventory or things like that.

From the IGN review they mention specifically that the PC version has much better graphical options vs the console (higher res textures, etc).

They also state how weapon swapping isn't an issue, like in consoles, because of hotkeys/mouse wheel to switch (instead of having to swap them out via the hotwheel that pauses the game).

Hopefully the FOV/Widescreen isn't an issue in this one like it was for the first game, and mouse acceleration is something you can turn off easily in options (or they don't have it at all).

Something about this game just turns me off it's too perfect...or trying to be that way to the point where I don't care. Not really a fan of the art direction they took with making a First person shooter in the air.

I think I need to see some more gameplay

got my BioShock Infinite key from the AMD Reloaded bundle!...the Tomb Raider key also arrived the Friday night before relase as well...time to preload!...hope Steam unlocks the game on midnight Monday

Still haven't gotten my key...why am I always last? :(

they probably send them out in the order they were received...mine arrived at almost exactly the same time as the Tomb Raider one...so you'll probably get yours around the same day/time you got your TR one

I am really on the fence with this one. I played Bioshock 1 on a console while deployed on ship and it was amazing. I load up #2 on the PC when I get home and I am like WTF:eek: is this steamer.

for the millionth time...BioShock 2 was NOT created by the same people who created the first game...Infinite is back under the guidance of Ken Levine

Got my keys from GMG: Infinite and XCOM. Can't wait. Need to have SC2 HOTS campaign done before 26th! Great times!

Even if it wasn't, I thought part 2 was a good game, minus the "defend the little sister while she gather's eve" thing. Those got a bit annoying.

I never even played Bioshock 2.

Come to think about it, I'm not even sure if I finished the first one... :x

But...it's scary...

:p

You will survive. ;)

On a serious note, imagine how many pairs of pants will be ruined once the horror games start rolling out with Occulus Rift support. They better start putting heart-attack and psychological trauma warnings on them shits.

I still have yet to beat Dead Space 2... It's been a year... I play it 10 minutes a week because I'm too scared.

So screw you buddy! :p

Ah, I remember now why I stopped playing Bioshock (I think). Annoying issues with trying to get mouse acceleration to not be completely broken, and 5.1 sound not working properly. Game was made for XP, not Vista/7. :(

EDIT: Just got my Infinite key...Yay!

As far as I can tell, no pre-order bonuses and no X:COM with this game, either. Kinda sucks but oh well.

I never finished 1 or 2. Played both about 80% through and stopped. I have gaming A.D.D.

I have an Xcom Enemy Unknown product key from my Bioshock Infinite order thru Amazon. If anyone would like the key you're welcome to it, not really my type of game. PM me if you want it, first guy gets it. :) Should be redeemable thru steam.

Damn that was fast! Gone!
