Welll.... they did release difinitive versions of dos-1 and dos-2 with more refinements and content - esp dos-2 i loved that extra content they added in the last area.... i expect baulder gate 3 to see a lot of improvments in later area since they were not part of early access... so I think i'll wait at least a couple of months before i play - besides i'm ultra busy right now so it meshes well.I usually wait a few months to buy a new game but too excited to wait with this. And Larian has a pretty solid track record and not releasing unfinished games
You must be an Onion writerI just uninstalled the game someone said the more they play the more disappointed they are.
This game is more cinematic than any RPG I’ve ever played.I only played 4 hours with my buddy last night but in that time I was blown away with the depth of story telling, the movie like quality of the voice acting, the attention to details in the environment, just the whole package. I mean there's a reason industry vets said don't expect very many games to be this good. There's a reason why it's so well reviewed by critics and overwhelmingly positive on Steam. It's already reached top 10 highest concurrent players all time

3E didn't need fixing. It's probably WoTC's most revered iteration in the tabletop space. However, 3E had a ton of extensions and historically was somewhat difficult to translate as a video game. I think Temple of Elemental Evil was the closest to pulling it off (3.5E iirc)
4E was the direct result of video game influence. For whatever reason, hardcore D&D fans didn't receive it well. I personally liked it. It did distill things from 3.5E down a lot. Some of that 3E "flavor" was seemingly missing. More focus on combat, less on flavor, etc. I think the hardcore peeps didn't like because they couldn't use some bullshit out-of-combat trick to break the game. Yeah, you know who you are...
5E is trying to recapture the magic of 3E while executing some of 4E's streamlining. Basically, WoTC found a compromise.
3E had no class or XP balance, and it took all, and I mean all, of 3.5 with every splatbook, to fix it. 4E was Warhammer Prentend-Time Power Hour and just trash. It wasn't video games, it was minis that fucked it up. 5E is straight up incomplete to sell subscriptions online. If anything, video games fucked up 5E, but only in the recurring online subscriptions sense.
Also the mega-shilling for this game is so blatant, that alone should shake anyone's confidence.
It's been ages, but I do remember a lot of people having problems with 3E that were primarily fixed with 3.5. 4E doing stuff with minis was interesting, but I do recall a lot of complaints about how combat focused it became at the expense of actual RPG stuff. If Hasbro is intent on spending years with 5E I think it will get there. From what I've seen it does look like a good system for newer players, which does seem like the intent. They're never going to draw back the hardcore 2.5 and earlier folks, better to find ways to bring in newer players or people that haven't played in ages.
Blatant mega-shilling? Come on man, pull your head out of your ass. Just because the game isn't for you doesn't mean the entire fucking world is lying about their enjoyment of it. Chill. Not every game is specifically designed around what you want. It's fine. You don't need to be pissy about it.
5E is already EOL, they're preparing D&D One now. I'm hoping that this will lead to One development, but only time will tell.
And the shilling is everywhere, I'm not talking about people posting in this thread, I'm talking about the media hype.
my guy actually said he uninstalled because someone on the internet said they didn't like the gameI just uninstalled the game someone said the more they play the more disappointed they are.

Is the game worth getting/buying if you never played any of these before ?
Save your money people playing it are just trying to have fun which they can't find.Is the game worth getting/buying if you never played any of these before ?
Just hate if it holds my hand. I like Left 4 Dead games because you can do either.
The BG3 support is astroturfed as fuck.
and the hype machine, like I said, is in overdrive.

We get it :pThe hype machine is running at maximum speed.
You should ask Valari to make some gaming glassesI'm wondering if my eyestrain woes were from having Post Processing on but I'm not going to redownload the game to find out.
What is your point? Okatis is right, you're in the wrong spamming negativity when no one cares. We all got your thoughts the first 500 times .
when no one cares

It was a disappointing experience. Even with tempered expectation, now that I stand at an end and look back? This was a game that did not need to be made. The connections to the previous games feels contrived. It feels like a crass exercise in commerce.
The story elements felt disparate, the plot armour given to some of the characters felt oppressive, the jokes were painful, the music dull, the path was linear and short. And the way they treated the past was utterly disrespectful. They claimed this game was made by fans, but the sheer fact they'd toss aside iconic legendary voice actors to recast them for no particular reason is... beyond me.
You, Larian, dug up the past just to make a few quick dollars. You took something that was adored by people across the globe to desecrate those memories in service of commerce. It's disgusting. And for what? A game closer to mediocre than great?
This isn't Baldur's Gate. This isn't even 5e D&D. This is just a greedy exercise of meglomania.
95% of Steam reviews over the last 30 days are 'overwhelmingly positive'...so cherry picking 1 or 2 bad reviews does not mean much...the game got excellent reviews across the board and most players seem to love it
Both of you are trolling me personally over a Videogame if you didn't play it be quiet. You seem incredibly desperate to find something, anything, to validate your feelings. You didn't enjoy it, that's fine, you don't need to use other people's thoughts to justify your own. If you have nothing of value or substance to add to the thread, move on.
and? I fail to see the significance of some random person's opinionSomeone who just beat the game on Steam posted this

You're the one trolling, actually. Look in the mirror. You didn't play it, even... you made a character, played the tutorial, then steam refunded. We all know your pattern of behavior by now. Both of you are trolling me personally over a Videogame if you didn't play it be quiet.

first time playing a game like this, any suggestions for getting started?
How are they trolling you? If anything you're trolling. We get it, you don't like it. You said that. Why are you still here trying to get a reaction out of people? Both of you are trolling me personally over a Videogame if you didn't play it be quiet.
