    27" 240hz OLED Monitor!!! (but there's a catch...)

Why are some people so obsessed with brightness? It's not like CRTs produced massive brightness either. With calibration, you usually end up with like 15-20% of the brightness setting anyway. What's the problem here? Enlighten me (no pun intended).

    27" 240hz OLED Monitor!!! (but there's a catch...)

So this monitor is not using QD OLED, and also it won't come with burn in warranty? That worries me a bit, but otherwise this seems like the dream monitor to me.

Does GPU scaling from 3440 x 1440 to 2560 x 1440 cause noticable input lag?

Thanks for your replies guys. Yes, that was what I was thinking too, since what I want is just to crop the image, not change the resolution. I think I will go for the OLED ultrawide now. It seems to be the best of two worlds since the black bars are completely disabled pixels, so it should feel...

Does GPU scaling from 3440 x 1440 to 2560 x 1440 cause noticable input lag?

Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying the Dell AW3423DW which has a resolution of 3440 x 1440 but no display scaler over DisplayPort, which is the connection I will be using. For games that don't support 21:9, I want to play in 2560 x 1440 (16:9) and have the black bars on the sides. That does...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Hey again guys, I'm thinking about buying this monitor. There is one concern for me though, and that is resolution scaling. For games that don't support ultra wide I want to play in 16:9 (2560 x 1440). From my understanding the monitor itself can only do the resolution scaling over HDMI. Since...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

I'm thinking about buying this monitor. Is there any drawback to play games in 16:9 (2560 x 1440) on this monitor even though the native res is 3440 x 1440?. I was thinking if there is any kind of scaling issues (softness), input lag or anything when playing not in its native res? Since it is an...

    RTX 2080 enough for 3440 x 1440?

Hey guys. I'm considering bying an ultrawide monitor for my setup. The one I've set my sights on has a resolution of 3440 x 1440. I'm a bit worried if the card will be enough for that resolution. I currently play on a 2560 x 1440 display and it works well for me so far as I have a long backlog...

Need advice on a 24" VA-panel monitor for gaming (1080p)

Hey guys! I would need some advice on a new gaming monitor. I have had IPS displays in the past but I can't really get used to the low contrast/poor black levels compared to VA panels. So I have been looking at the following monitors: Samsung Odyssey G3 - Seems to have great contrast...

SSD with average temperature of 65°C

Hey guys. I have a TOSHIBA THNSNJ256G8NY SSD (258 gb) on my laptop (an MSI Raider 17") My temperature is high, at 64-65 degrees Celcius at all times, even though the SSD isn't doing anything. Even when I just browse the web, and "current disc activity" is at 0%, it is still at 64-65 degrees...

Micro stutter/short freezes when I play games on my HDD HGST Travelstar 7K1000

Hey guys, I have a laptop (MSI GE73VR 7RF 058NE Raider) and I have some short freezes/stutters when I play some games on my hard drive. It is a mechanical drive, a HGST Travelstar 7K1000 HTS721010A9E630 32MB 1TB. Do you know what the problem might be? I'm certain it is the hard drive because...

Do fiber optic HDMI cables add any noticeable input lag?

Hey! I need to buy a fiber optic HDMI cable at 6 meters in order to use my pc with my 4k tv and a controller for gaming. I'm a bit concerned about possible input lag though, as the signal is converted to light in the cable and then back again. What do you guys think? Do i risk increasing input...

Concerned about damaged (?) LAN port - packet loss

Is it normal to get 25-40% packet loss in Pingplotter pro, when trying to ping more than one target at a time? The Loss is from my router. When i ping only one target i get no loss. Using 1-2 sec intervals mostly

Concerned about damaged (?) LAN port - packet loss

Hi! Yes i get packet loss to my router if the packet size is big enough. Small packets like 32 bytes i think work fine. Also i start getting packet losses if i ping 3 targets or so in Pingplotter. Maybe there is some protection mechanism that stops several pings per second from coming back to me?

Concerned about damaged (?) LAN port - packet loss

Thanks for the reply! In general, are pci express cards as snappy and fast as onboard lan controllers? I was thinking maybe a pci connection might introduce some kind of slight latency since it is not on the motherboard itself.

Concerned about damaged (?) LAN port - packet loss

Hi! I recently needed to pull the lan plug out of the Ethernet jack on my motherboard. The plug was stuck rather hard in the socket, so I had to use some moderate force to pull it out, while rocking it from side to side a bit. At last it got out (it FLEW out!). Now I'm concerned I might have...

120hz Monitor 27" or bigger. No price restrictions

As long as you stay away from Samsung 120hz:ers you will be fine :) Asus VG27ish seems like a really good choice based on the reviews. Only scary thing with it is the oval backlight bleeding pattern that shows up on some of them. Order from a place with a good return police and you will be...

    Samsung S27A970

Hum, I really wanted to see a new alternative in the 27" bracket, but not another one by Samsung. That company has made some really significant cuts on quality check on their monitors, as every Samsung monitor I've owned has had serious defects, even after replacements...

1000, does your screen look anything like the one in the pic posted by Frank on page 2? I would still like to see a pic of your monitor with a black screen (black in paint) in a dark room. After playing on my Eizo foris fs2331 for a few months and going back to my Samsung screens, i get...

Dell U2412M or Samsung S2A950D for gaming

Thank you for the comparsion :) There are some things that are compelling with the Dell, and I´m just a few clicks away from ordering it and trying it out (14 day return/distance laws, i love it!). I´m doing lots of paperwork so 16:10 is interesting, and no ghosting I would love as well. However...

Dell U2412M or Samsung S2A950D for gaming

I was into getting the Dell, as it is cheap and has gotten really good reviews (like the Foris). What pulled me over to the Eizo was the VA-panel. Also having 16:10 is very sweet. Having owned both, what do you think about the U2412m compared to the Foris when it comes to black depht, black...

Dell U2412M or Samsung S2A950D for gaming

I have played with my Foris now for some hours, and man I love it even more than last time i`ve owned it. I feel it´s almost criminal to make such a perfect display and sell it so cheap. For less than half of the price of a S27A950D I got: - Best contrast ratio of all screens i´ve tested...

    Eizo Foris FS2331

I ordered an Eizo Foris FS2331 the other day and hope it will show up today. I remeber really liking the screen apart from the ghosting. Now I´m willing to tolerate it, after using both a TN and an IPS panel and having to deal with their respective weaknessess (bad color accuracy on the TN...

Dell U2412M or Samsung S2A950D for gaming

I see what you mean :) The problem for is that I can´t really use my S23A750D at daytime because of the reflections, but not at nightime either because of annoying uniformity issues and backlight bleeding. I pulled the trigger on Eizo Foris FS2331 yesterday and it should get to me today. I think...

I have never turned all my lights off to stare at a black screen. However, should I want to game in dim lightning conditions and play games that take place in the dark (i don´t see any sense in turning up the light in my room if I game, especially with a glossy screen) the bleeding is going to...

    Help decide S27A750 or S27A950

I´ve tried both and you´re right :) 950D has more intrusive backlight bleeding, it´s like a huge patch in the lower right corner. 750D has more even backlight bleed and less intrusive, it´s like a frame of backlight bleeding with the same height as the windows sidebar that shows around the...

Dell U2412M or Samsung S2A950D for gaming

Cool, let me know what you think about the S27A950D when it arrives. If you like it and it doesn´t have issues, I´m considering trying one again and sending it back in case it sucks :) It has many good traits and if I can only use it for dark games it would rock.

    Help decide S27A750 or S27A950

Well, i was thinking the same thing. No disrespect to anyone, but I think we may have different priorities and gaming habits. Dell U2412M or Samsung S2A950D for gaming

Well, let me put it this way: if you get a good unit of Samsung S27A950D I´m sure it can be a killer monitor. It has some good traits like perfect motion, no inpug lag to speak of, 120hz, good contrast and image quality for a TN panel. However I´m a bit disappointed with Samsung as I have tried...

S27A950D if you only play fast first person shooters that take place in bright settings (no Doom 3, Deus Ex or anything with dark scenes, will not work with that screen). Dell U2412M for all genres except for old school CS :)

I´ve tried two S27A950D:s and they bleed like that with the brightness set to anything higher than 10-15~ of 100. When brightness went lower, the bleed went from blue to more of a black variant, but still pretty distracting. Maybe i´m just unlucky then, and even though I´ve tried 2x...

Yup :) Thanks for the link. I read all of the tips and I´m streaming some beatiful landscape videos from discovery HD as I browse these forums :) Anyway, I am very pleased with this plasma display, it´s a keeper for sure. I tried playing some games on it, and it felt fluent like a CRT. At...

Eizo 24" LCD FlexScan S2433WFS for gaming?

Got the screen a few hours back. It´s everything I hoped it to be, but I´m a bit worried with the image retention. I hope it will go away (I use Samsungs protection which moves the pixels). Played some Deus Ex, just for a few minutes, and next thing I see is that the menus seems "burned in"...

Eizo 24" LCD FlexScan S2433WFS for gaming?

I think I will go down the plasma route :) What are the specs / attributes I should be looking for in a good plasma for gaming? My goal is lowest possible input lag, great motion and great black levels. How would the SAMSUNG PS-51D550 fare in the light of these goals? It´s a 51"...

Eizo 24" LCD FlexScan S2433WFS for gaming?

Thanks again, I will be checking Plasma TV:s out as I´m really, really picky about black levels, screen uniformity and motion. Also, a new large screen TV wouldn´t hurt me :) The only concerns I have are: 1) Pixel pitch. 1080p on a 50" + inch monitor - will it be pixelated and blurry...

Eizo 24" LCD FlexScan S2433WFS for gaming?

Thanks NCX I´m now leaning towards the Eizo as I value screen uniformity (especially for solid dark screens) over size and real estate. The only thing I´m a bit concerned about is input lag. I haven´t heard anything negative about the Eizo in that regard but there are hardly any reviews where...

Eizo 24" LCD FlexScan S2433WFS for gaming?

I also saw that this screen is supposed to have a refresh rate of 75 hz (!) I wonder if it is marketed for gamers? Specs seem very nice overall. I can´t make up my mind wether i should get this or the Samsung S27A850D. Will be playing lots of dark games like Deus Ex and Doom 3.
