What advantageous does rolling my own bring? It seems like it's a bunch of extra work, but I don't understand the benefit. Does FreeNAS have better feature set, or is it just better hardware (CPU/Ram) or what?
So I'm looking to get a NAS. I want to use it as a network drive across 3 home computers. I'd like to be able to use window's allways avaliable even if offline thingy. It would be nice if I had access from the internet into it, but not required. I'd like it to support 2 drives and Raid 1...
I was going to complain about not linking directly to the source, then I found out that Charlie Demerjian thinks his opinions are worth a paywall these days.
Is there a known good source for a legal, (retailed preferred) copy of windows 7 professional (or higher)? I'm creating another machine and I want windows 7. I've tried everything above it, and prefer windows 7. So I've looked on amazon and nothing looks very legit. Are there any known...
If it doesn't double my speed, then it's not worth an upgrade. Taking a 10 minute task to 7 minutes, just isn't that big of a deal to me. Unless it can change a task that takes longer than overnight to something that takes an hour, it's not going to change my workflow. lol30%faster just isn't...
So there's still not a monumental increase in speeds. My 2600K is at 4.5 Ghz and it won't double my performance. Wonder how much of a difference is the CPU and how much is the RAM speeds. Doesn't really matter I suppose as the Encoding benchmarks would have shown it if there was any.
I'd much rather have quality game play, than fancy graphics. I actually hate it when people make games 3D that don't need to be. For the same development time, you'll get much better graphics with a 2D game than a 3D. As to why a there are a lot of 2D RPGs that all look the same, it's because...
Looks awesome. I enjoy both real golf and video game golf. They're two separate things in my book. That being said, I really hope real golf simulators come down in price soon. I'd love the convenience of having one, but at the current price tag for ones that do direction & spin, they're...
The DDR games can be a decent work out, and are one of the few ones that won't get boring as long as you continue to increase in skill and unlock new songs. If you plateu and get stuck on the same song for a few weeks, it can lead to frustration and boredom.
Unfortunately nearly EVERYTHING...
Thanks, the Eizo is above my price point. By the time I start getting into those price points, I'd rather take two of the Korean I think. I'll look through the BenQ as it seems to be inside my price point. Listening to some of NCX's review on it it seems there are some quirks, but perhaps not...
Thanks! Actually, I think I came across this yesterday while I was reading, however I didn't "connect the dots" between the two user names (mostly because I didn't look at the user name on the other forum at the time tbh).
Thank you. Seriously, thank you. This is EXACTLY the kind of information I need. Hopefully NCX will chime in as well. I'm not willing to give up resolution for contrast. I'll take a deeper look at the three panels you suggested, it's going to make my search a lot easier.
I'm looking to replace my 245BW. For a long time I thought I'd replace it with a 30", but after making a thread a while back and pretty much getting told they just don't compare with the 27" panels out there, I went back to the drawing board. So I'm going to get back on the research wagon and...
I don't plan on going to Adobe RGB. While I will print some of my pictures, the vast majority of them will be consumed on the web, so I'll work in sRGB.
I want to divide the signal coming out of the back of a FIOS set top box (HDMI Splitter, easy enough), send one to my TV, and send the other to a window (i.e. not full screen) on my PC. This second part is where I don't really know where or what I need. I know this will require hardware and...
As nice as the PA302W would be, it's probably more than I'm willing to pay. If I can't get anything better than the 27" koreans without paying for the PA302 maybe I should start seriously considering a 3x 27" Korean build then... Sucks no one is willing to make a quality 30.
So, I'm considering taking the plunge and replacing my 245bw. It's an old, uncalibrated 24" TN with amazingly low input lag. I've never really complained about the monitor and have been quite happy with it. I say this to identify where I am on the "how senstive to X are you" questions...
I am not to end game yet on FFXIV, but any time anyone says requires everyone to be perfect, it reminds me of Sicaron in Hammerknell in Rift. It was a beast before they lowered the DPS requirements (you had to be perfect for longer, and you needed perfect placement of the idols to extend the...
You have no idea how the real world works, do you? In the real world, people who are competent enough to plan and carry out terrorist attacks, do it. I mean lets face it, all of their spying totally kept us safe from the boston marthon bombing didn't it? Oh wait... that's right.. it didn't...
Yeah, it's a pretty vicious cycle. Can't log in because servers are full, so people stay logged in, which keeps the servers full. Very quickly 50%+ of the people logged into full servers are AFK which is a mess.
I'm sure you've already checked this, but they way you wrote your post, it sounds like you might have the frame limiter set to 30 FPS in the options. I'm sure you don't but it's easy enough to check. I haven't done SLI since the 8800 days. Still sporting a 1920x1200 so I haven't found the need.
The problem with this whole debacle is not that they were under sized on servers. I'm fine with that, tbh. The annoying part is the lack of simply being able to join a queue and wait. If I could look at my watch and figure out I'll probably be playing in 2 hours, then great I'll go do some...
