might be able to get it to boot off a usb hard drive, but I wouldn't want to leave the hard drive. And for as old as this laptop is, I wouldn't want to buy a usb drive for it.

I've got a laptop with a dead IDE Header. The CD works (mostly) but HDs are a no go. What can I do to get this little guy running? I'll fold UD or F@H with it if I can get it running.

I'm still slowly adding to the processor count. I added another 9 today (12ish GHZ). Should have about 50-55 now (I'll let stanford tell me). With our current lead, and by the time we upgrade CPUs here in the office, I think we can hold them off and continue on our lead.

Been a week and 2 days and I've broken 15K points. Total of 43 boxen reporting at the moment, but that should rise. Will be adding 5 more boxen today. And I broke into the top 10% project-wide.

Yes but it's much cheaper to get a dual core processor and let one processor fold 100% non-stop than to build a whole extra computer. ;)

Sounds like I'll be fine then. This is a late January project for me. What do you think AMD vs Intel dual core for this project. I have a feeling the Intel will do better based on the video encoding/decoding benchmarks I've seen but I haven't really looked into it that much.

I'm looking at either a pair of ATI HDWonders or a MYHD130 and a cheap analog tuner.

Do you do high def video? That's my main concern. I hear that high def puts a large load on the system.
