    RIM Unveils iPad Competitor

Hopefully RIM will release a 10" version in the near future, but 7" is nice because it is so portable. I'm anxious to play with the new QNX OS, once RIM has a radio stack this will be the OS for the future.

Help, AM2/Nforce4 motherboard won't POST with Radeon 5750 installed

Yeah, a lot of the older motherboards have problems with 5 series cards. If you're running the latest BIOS and it's no-go then there isn't anything you can do. You *could* return the card, or just get a new motherboard. AM2+ boards can be had for under $50 these days...

Please try again at a later time

I left my flash drive at home and had to download drivers earlier - I got the same message. I did get the drivers from somewhere else, but thanks, nVidia!

Does AMD have a response to the 3D craze?

The visuals in Avatar were great - it really was an 'experience,' even with the silly glasses. Seeing a couple of films in the theatre is OK with glasses, but is something that would be unforgivable at home. The wost part about Avatar was technical - there was damage on the screen that stood...

Patriot Memory's Box Office Media Player Review @ [H]

** NONE ** of these devices are for the non-enthusiast types. The Western Digital media players seem to be the best of the lot (just don't update the firmware on the WD TV Live) but none of them are really great. Anything with a network port doesn't seem to work well if you're not connecting...

Nvidia delays Fermi to March 2010, new chip speculation.

The 'fact' is that we don't know any facts, which is highly unusual for nVidia. Since you want to eat the pudding, you'll need this...

Nvidia delays Fermi to March 2010, new chip speculation.

You know that nVidia is no longer making chipsets, right? nVidia hasn't made a good chipset since the nForce4 (my ASUS A8N-SLI Premium based PC is now my HTPC) so nobody really cares. Anyone who bought a nForce based Intel system lived to regret their purchase - thanks Bumpgate. Tegra is a...

5xxx cards who's NOT having problem.

Sapphire 5850 here, 9.12s, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit - bought the card the first day it was available. No problems other than glitches in the initial driver (which was expected).

    O 5800, 5800, Wherefor Art Thou 5800?

I'm losing money because AMD can't ship enough 57xx and 58xx series cards. AMD just has to do better, this is turning into a real fiasco.

Is ASUS a good video card manufacture?

I find Sapphire cards to be more reliable than ASUS, but when they need to be RMA'd then Sapphire always sends cards back that work. If you can say that ASUS is better than Sapphire then you obviously haven't dealt with either company.

DX11 - will it actually matter?

DX11 has something that even non-gamers can appreciate - dx compute. When Microsoft finally gets around to using GPU acceleration in Windows you can bet they won't be using OpenCL...

Upgrade from 8800GT to ATi 5770?

The 5850 would be better even though it's $100 more, or perhaps wait until the 5830 is released. The 5770 doesn't seem like a good value to me.

Finally got my 5850 today, but the system won't boot :[

I've had two 5850s go through my hands now (one that was put in my PC, one for a customer) and both of them gave me no end of problems until I manually set the PCIE bus to 100Mhz. Just so you know, my PC is overclocked, my customer's isn't.

Sapphire 4830 causing PSU to make noise

Yeah, that definately sounds like the coils on the video card. I have a 4830 that does that as well, it's very annoying but is unfortunately 'normal'. All mid/high end cards seem to have that problem (both ATI and nVidia), I personally believe it's from the manufacturers using using parts that...

What is the rumored date of new ATI cards ?

The "back to school" season is huge for hardware makers, so if they want to have products ready for that then they'd have to be released mid-July. However, sales this year will be softer then usual due to the economy and the imminent release of Windows 7, so it makes more sense to milk the...

Does it feel like gfx cards are not advancing that fast now?

The issue is how much power people need - since most people have 22" LCDs (or less) a 4850/9800GT is really all that is needed. That's why AMD/nVidia are making such a fuss over using the GPU for processing, as they hope people will buy the high-end (and high margin) cards instead of the mid-range.

Memory Errors (Using Memtest 86+ 2.11)

You'll need to replace the RAM, but since it's RDRAM then it's not worth the expense. Buying new RAM will cost you far more then what that system is worth.

Nvidia cuts out reviewers for the GTS250 - Such dirty rats...

Some of you may remember a post that I made in this very forum a few days ago asking for information about a 512MB eVGA 9600gso that I was thinking about buying. There are absolutely no reviews on that card anywhere, as it's a gimped product released under the same name. I decided that I...

    Sapphire 4830 boot-up question

There's a molex connector right by the PCIE slot, try connecting some power to it. Even though the 4830s have a 6-pin connector they seem to like a bit more power from the PCIE slot then it likes to provide. I've noticed that problem on quite a few 4830s and connecting the power always solves it.

Intel is making waves about AMD's split-up

That is why AMD should have embraced the Linux folks when the OS started to gain traction and actively supported it. If enough support ($$$ *and* pro design help) was put into Linux when its name started crossing everyone's tongues then Linux could very well be a major platform now instead of...
