Computer Business Review has an opinion piece up today lamenting what they see as some in the media calling VR in 2016 a flop, after they themselves were responsible for hyping it up the first place. They want to set the record and expectations straight, pointing out that PC VR Gaming is a...
According to VR sales data compiled by Unity Games, VR sales toppled the $1.8 billion plateau in 2016 after impressively amassing a total of 6.3 million devices sold. On the PC, $718 million was spent. Mobile accumulated $687 million in sales followed by console with $411 million in sales...
So, finally had a chance to spend a day with the Vive, and I personally just can not get past the resolution, it is a total immersion breaker for me. I totally get it, the hardware just isn't there yet to support 4k on each eye, it's a long way off to push those resolutions @ 90fps... But coming...
I'd like to get a consumer VR solution at some point (I currently only have the DK2) and I've noticed the software end of things of the Rift definitely pisses me off. The thing is, I have no idea if it's any better on the Vive. I was hoping some Vive owners could answer these questions:
1...

Any thoughts on these from Vive users. And any other recommendations appreciated. Would like to keep it around $100.
Why does it always have to be one or the other? It's not like AR, as cool as the technology is, stole any of VR's thunder this year, or vice versa. In fact, I think both will coexist just fine because they are clearly different products targeting different markets.
VR, AR, MR and every other...
NVIDIA has just announced a new GeForce GTX HTC Vive bundle that offers up three free VR titles with the purchase of a GeForce GTX 1080, 1070 or 1060 graphics card, system, or laptop and an HTC Vive headset.
There’s no better time to jump in and immerse yourself in VR than this Holiday season...
HTC announced today that it has launched Vive Studios to develop and publish VR games for the HTC Vive VR headset. The new studio has one game out already with more coming in the "weeks to come."
So, I am considering picking up a Vive for the house for the holidays but I am just not sure.
The tech seems pretty damned cool, but every review I read and check out, titles seem like goofy tech demos or silly little Wii games. I could be wrong, but I have yet to see anything that I think...
Trying to make a decision about where to spend my money on one of these systems. I'm all set to jump into the Vive world but I want to hear what the community here has to say now that the Rift controllers are out (or coming).
Stick with original choice or go to the Darkside?
SOLD
I basically just set it up, configured some games, and put it away for Christmas. Wife found out about it... didn't approve and now I must let it go.
$700 shipped COTUS.
If you're local I can remove whatever the shipping fees are and meet you. Scranton, PA. I also travel to Philly...
This is really a great story. Hopefully HTC hears about this and sends the guy a Vive for "medicinal purposes." At least that way the guy wouldn't have to make trips all the way to London just to get a 15 - 20 minute VR demo.
Soar suffers from a hereditary eye condition known as...
A company called Amber Garage has developed a virtual reality experience called City VR that uses Google Earth maps to allow you to explore San Francisco like a giant. All they need now are destructible environments and they'd be all set. After that, they could add Godzilla, King Kong and Giant...
Anyone tried any of these off ebay?
Several of them available in the 35-50.00 range. Got the rest of my hardware on the way this week, contemplating ordering one in advance, as they appear to make sense....
One I'm looking at is titled, "HTC Vive Controller Rifle Stock V2"
So I'm pretty sure I'm going to move forward purchasing a HTC Vive.
I haven't been pc gaming lately, so I know I'll need a new video card. Rest of specs:
i7 3770k
16gb
Asus p8Z77 deluxe mobo (has usb 3.0)
couple ssd drives
is my mobo/cpu/ram combo okay?
on the fence between the gtx 1070 &...
Here's something you might not have thought about when it comes to playing room scale VR games. You can actually use games to get some exercise and have fun at the same time. Although we own an Oculus Rift, we use the HTC Vive here for our VR performance reviews because of the fact that it does...
I want to get the family a Vive for Christmas.
Tempted to get the Vive now. It'd give me plenty of time to set it up/drill holes in the walls, see how my headphones fit, game settings, Ect. I like Christmas presents to be immediately functional. Nothing was more of a buzz kill on Christmas...
We've run across some pretty bizarre VR games in our time but I think this is the very first VR lumberjack game I've ever seen. I think they should kick this whole thing up a notch and make it a zombie chainsaw slasher or Friday the 13th game. We should make Kyle test it for our VR Leaderboard...
HTC partnered with AMD this year to show off the power of the Vive at Gamescom 2016. In addition to AMD, developers such as Croteam, Mifcom, Narayana Games, VR Unicorns, and others all had VR games and simulations on display at the show. Watching people play VR games in a room scale environment...
Those of you that enjoyed our AMD and NVIDIA GPU Vive VR Performance in Raw Data article will definitely want to check out this review of Raw Data. Even though it is still in early access, the game is getting a lot of praise from VR enthusiasts.
I mean it when I say complete immersion. The...
Looks like Bethesda is releasing an update to enable roomscale VR support in Fallout4! Amazing news to those waiting on a AAA title.
I actually took a break from FO4.... I'll probably wait now.
Virtual reality Fallout 4 is coming to HTC Vive in 2017
Hi guys, I am having serious trouble getting Elite: Dangerous to work on the HTC Vive.
I get lots of stuttering when looking around (though not while moving, oddly). EVGA precision reports 44fps in the game window that displays on the monitor. I don't know if this framerate is necessarily the...
I recently went to a Microsoft Store to get their demo of the Vive, 10 minutes isn't exactly much time to get a good feel for it, but alas I don't know anybody with a Vive so I could get a longer demo. I have some questions about the tech. I was really excited for VR, especially after reading...
After messing around with various versions of the device in the past, the crew at HotHardware have finally published their thoughts and impressions of the retail version of the HTC Vive VR kit. Overall a positive review.
We had experience with multiple versions of the Vive throughout its...
I've never heard of this company before but its full-arm tracking for the HTC Vive looks neat. The gloves track hand movement using a combination of high-tech sensors (all contained inside the glove) that allow for reliable hand and finger tracking. The company also says it will be launching an...
saw this over on reddit lol While it's pretty humorous, I wonder how long it will take before someone seriously hurts themselves and, legally, goes after the hardware manufacturers or even software developer. A few feet to the right and she could of thrown herself through a glass door...

The crew at iFixit got their grubby little mitts on an HTC Vive and promptly tore into it. The headset got pretty high marks for repairability even though the parts are very delicate and it does use glue in some important areas.
Preordered my Vive and I have a question. I run 2 Asus ROG Swifts and use G-Sync on all games.
I'm wondering how G-Sync + running a Vive works. The Vive itself does not use G-Sync right? So I would turn on V-Sync to maintain the 90Hz?
I can basically peg any game at 144 fps with G-Sync and...
As I'm messing around with Vive, wanted to see what are you guys liking the most on both platforms?
So far, my top 3 would be:
Fantastic Contraption - great use of roomscale and controllers, and seems like an actual full fun game so far
Virtual Desktop - cause you need one, SteamVR desktop...
Quick question...
My primary gaming PC is in my living room and doubles as an HTPC. I have it hooked up to my receiver via HDMI which is required for Dolby Digital HD/Atmos and DTS-MA/DTS-X. Originally I planned on just plugging in the headset as a display but use my existing speakers for audio...
I need some help on how to setup or duplicate the display to a TV.
I'm running 3x Dell 2312HM via displayport connected to a 980ti. So the card has one hdmi port that will be connected to the Vive. I have a 42" TV with hdmi ports that I want to connect as a spectator display.
So I'm going to...
Who has one and how do you like it? I'd trust a hardocp forum members review over the likes of fortune or Gizmodo any day lol. Post thoughts, insights, and whatever else comes to mind here.
Gizmodo published a review of the HTC Vive today and, when all was said and done, they felt that it was a "beautiful machine with no good games." Another drawback? Cables. Lots of cables.
Virtual reality has always been an expensive hobby. Even in 1995, when the only VR option was the Nintendo...
