dude just go to guitar center and say that you want to record bass to your computer, ask about m-audio products. they make a $150 model that uses usb and will interface nicely with store bought computers. or get a 192 and go at it. lol maybe an mbox is in order?

I ditto the mans post to the "t". My M3NP rocks and went togethor in under 20 min. The charge lasts about 4 1/2 hours with SpeedswitchXP on max battery. Asus makes sonys laptops as well as some other big players. They are the 3rd largest laptop manutacture in the world.
1.) its as heavy as you make it, check the specs for all your components and add them up.
2.) speedswitchxp, or your bios might have some options as well.
The same comp I built would cost $2100 or so before tax from IBM and I built it for $1200

Bought it from newegg and it turns out my laptop (Asus) requires a special drive with a spacer. To make a long story short my loss is your gain. This is your standard sized OEM slimline laptop combo drive.

you can use it for anything you want. tell her the college you want to go to requires a laptop (maybe she'll pay for it)
shouldnt you be in charge of your own money at your age? I mean you did earn it and all. anyways good luck with the mom :D
i was gonna rma my drive back to newegg but i figure ill keep it and not lose the 15%. Ill let you know how switching the spacers from the asus drive to the OEM go. Also from the looks of the spacer its just 1mm-2mm thick and made of aluminum. a pair of tin snips or a dremel and you could easily...
ya that black metal plate that surronds the whole drive is the spacer. so technically once you buy the spacer (good luck finding it) or by the correct oem drive from asus (about $94 for the burner version) and transfer the "shim" to another oem drive you are forced to use their product. good for...
