Your blue monitor still looks blue maybe 7500K-8500K on my calibrated monitor and the benq has a minimal almost not noticeable yellow tone.
It takes around 5 minutes for your eyes/brain to adjust to a new monitor setting so have you tried to:
- Turn your blue monitor off
- Take a 5 minute walk...
I can also recommend the BenQ BL2411PT. It's cheaper than the Eizo and seems to be of very high quality displaywise, personally i think it's even better than the Eizo but thats my own opinion. The stand however feels a bit clunky and is not quite up to Eizo's standard. Checkout the BenQ BL2411PT...
I got a EV2436W (says EV2436W on the label) at work a week ago that was manufactured 7 oct 2013 and it is really good. No blb or other defects. The ag coating is grainier than my BenQ BL2411PT but i would not say it's heavy so no sparklies. I am very pleased with it.
I got a Eizo EV2436W at work yesterday and and i must say i was deeply worried when i read this thread but after using it for 2 days i seem to have got a really good one.
There's no noticeable blb, no pixel defects or smudges. The AG coating is clearly grainier than the BenQ BL2411PT i got at...
Nope it did not work.
At least i can run 720p from 48Hz up to 86Hz. Neither the horizontal sweep frequency or pixel clock were that high so i think it's a limitation in BenQ's displaychip, maybe a firmware update could unlock higher frequencys at higher resolutions.
Leaving it on automatic i can go to 61Hz.
As for making my own resolutions adapted for movies, this is what i got working so far:
1440x900 48Hz, 72Hz
1366x768 48Hz, 72Hz
1280x720 48Hz, 72Hz
I got a displayport cable but no luck yet. What i can see is that the following builtin resolutions gives me the choice of 60Hz or 75Hz:
1280x1024
1280x960
1280x800
1280x768
1152x864
1024x768
And the following gives me the choice of 50Hz, 59Hz or 60Hz:
1920x1080
1768x992
1280x720
1176x664...
I understand and yes i have noticed stuttering on camera pans but i always thought it had something to do with compression or maybe the eyes or the brain but i never knew a mismatch in framerate could cause it. Except from gaming i also watch a lot of movies on mine and if i could get a better...
I agree on you on ips, ever since i saw a ips display irl for the first time in a computer store around two and a half years ago i knew i would never buy a tn-panel again.
Right now i am trying to convince my workplace to shift from tn to ips but there are a lot of ips misconceptions to...
Overclocking the monitor is not my thing and would not even know how. If i need a monitor with more than 60Hz i would buy one made for the higher frequency.
My reaction rate is around 0.18-0.19 secs at best, see http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/index.php and i guess when i am...
Nice, it looks like the BenQ BL2411PT are not plagued with blb issues :D.
My last 2 monitors both Samsung (a T220 and a S24A850DW) had severe blb so i guess i have come to associate Samsung with severe blb, i have even got used to severe blb but now when i have had a blb free monitor for more...
I was learned that the top of the display should be at eye height so you can see the whole screen without having to move your head upwards and thereby straining your neck muscles.
Maybe thats wrong but it's what i was learned.
On my Samsung S24A850DW i would say > 99% of the owner reviews i have seen have complained about blb so if more BenQ BL2411PT owners would give their opinion maybe we can see if was lucky with my BL2411PT or if BenQ have good quality control on this monitor.
Here's a picture of my Samsung...
First of all i would recommend to buy a monitor from a store where you have the option to return it if you are not pleased.
In your case if you have to go out your way to get the BenQ i would try the Asus first and if it looks bad return it and get the BenQ.
If the Asus is good then you...
I think the changes between the profiles are much less than dE 0.5 so it is not visible to the human eye. The only thing that changed on my BenQ was the R, G, B settings for D6500 color temperature, 100, 99, 96 when new to 99, 99, 94 now after 3-4 weeks.
Nice gallery and i am really happy you...
I checked the color on the BL2411PT today and over the last 3-4 weeks it has drifted from D6500 to a colder color temperature of D6600. It's a new monitor so a little drift the first months were expected. New settings after calibration are:
Brightness: 33 (160 nits)
Color temp: User define...
BenQ BL2710PT, 1440p, 4ms, 8-bit + frc, ahva (ips), height, svivel, tilt and rotate and flicker free. Only thing is the 20ms signal processing lag but it is not catastrophicly bad unless you are making a living of gaming.

I reread your first post and i also had a Dell once, the specific model was U2312HM but returned it because i got a headache when looking at it. But dont let the Dell scare you away from IPS panels there are better ones out there. If you have the option to return your Asus look for a pwm free...
I have read the PRAD review and the out-of-the-box settings seems really good but the color temperature is a little warm at 5900K which means it will be a little red in the tone. Setting the brightness between 10% - 20% will give around 120 - 160 nits which is good for the eyes.
What you can...
The PRAD score for your new VN279Q is top notch which is way better than ok, could it be that your old Samsung is out of calibration? give it a few days at lower brightness before your final verdict and if you are not pleased then return it.
I see you use Linux, i am sure there are display calibration utilities for Linux also. If you install windows the builtin calibration program will create a icc-profile that should be usable in Linux.
Also PRAD has a review on you monitor...
Try the windows builtin Display Color Calibration program. With it you can calibrate gamma, brightness and colors. It will probably take a few tries but the results are usually pretty ok in the end.
Give it a try with my profile and settings and see what happens. I did notice you have sharpness at 4, mines at 5 (default).
Time over here is now 1:43 am so its time for me to wrestle the bed for 8 hours or so :D.
My display profile can be downloaded from here: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=D881F7D6C955587F%217243
The spectro is not as good as a colorimeter at measuring black so i took the average of 5 readings with the spectro set to adaptive and the results are:
Brightness=18
Black level...
One thing i did notice on mine is that if i lower the brightness below 33 then it looks a bit dull so the matte coating need a little higher brightness to get the vivid colors.
My mfg.date is September 2013 and rev is 00-008-AL. The settings i use are
Brightness: 33 (=160 nits, at 120 nits i think it looks a little dull)
Color temp: User define
Red: 100
Green: 99
Blue: 96
The rest of the settings are at default (Contrast=50, Sharpness=5, Gamma=3). I also made a...
Nice pictures they show exactly what i wanted to show but my Canon Powershot hasn't been the same since i borrowed it to my nephews, the pictures i get from it are mostly blurry and colors are all wrong. For me it's the link in your first post that works.
The BL2411PT seems to be a real pearl...
