Well I have a used NCASE M1 V2.0, Silverstone SF600-G and Scythe Kabuto II for sale, but I live in Europe and I think shipping overseas would be too expensive...
Cool, please review the noise profile. Any weird sounds? Does the fan power off at any time, or is it on all the time? Did you have the silverstone before and if so can you compare the two?
I will. ;D
What are your idle temps? I'm getting around 50-53 C idle with an i7-4790K. GPU is GTX 980. I've set it to silent mode in the bios, not overclocking or anything. Just thinking it's a bit high for idle?
My CPU cooler is currently a Scythe Kabuto II, would replacing it with a Noctua NH-C14S be an upgrade? I'm thinking the larger 140mm fan would mean less noise and lower temps?
I'm unsure whether I should get the 450 or 600 version. Using the eXtreme power supply calculator I get a wattage of 354. So I guess 450 should be enough, but would 600 be useful for future upgrades?
All I know is I'm jumping ship the moment a better option than the SX600-G becomes available, the noise it makes is annoying as hell. Would be cool if Seasonic came out with an SFX PSU.
I'm going to wait for reviews on the PG279Q to come out. I know the panel is the same but if the build quality on the Asus is better then I'm going with that.
Looks a lot better, but you can't keep the image perfectly grey everywhere on the monitor. E.g. if you have the image in the center of your monitor and calibrate, and then move the image to the left side of your monitor, the image will no longer be grey.
I love it, best monitor I've had, but the viewing angles are bothering me because I don't always look at the monitor head on. So yeah I want to get the Acer because it's IPS.
Apart from the TN panel I think the one complaint I have about the Swift is the "gamer" design which IMO is a tad too...
I'm waiting to pull the trigger too. Acer's QA sounds horrible...The first Asus Swift I got was perfect, but I got it pretty late so maybe all the QA problems were sorted out by then.
All this stuff about sending back 3 monitors sounds incredibly tiresome. I was thinking somebody should open a...
How's the build quality compared with the swift? I too am thinking of shifting from my Swift to this but I heard the build quality was horrible.
Also kinda afraid of the whole dead pixel thing, but I guess I'll just take the chance. :p
Well all of these noises have been confirmed by other people in the thread so it's the case with quite a few of the units. I could try and return it and pray that I receive a V1.1, but that would leave me without a PSU and PC maybe for weeks. I can't be bothered at this point tbh.
I agree, it's without doubt the noisiest PSU I've ever owned. Apart from the ticking bomb sound, mine crackles constantly, like a hard drive working in the background. Then there's the coil whine, but of course I can't say for sure whether that is due to a combination of my PC components, or the...
An A/B test would definitely be interesting. Although it might matter where your case is placed. E.g. my case is on the floor, thus in theory it should be less noisy than if it was placed on the table closer to ear height. My point is that while it might make a difference if your case is on the...
The worst thing about all of this is that for many of us this is the only choice we have. It's not like we've got a plethora of SFX PSUs we can choose between.
lol, I was planning the opposite, ie swapping my SX600 so the fans face outward. Point being to draw in cold air from the outside instead of (in theory) taking in hot air from inside the case. I've never noticed any chatter from it though, just coil whine (disappears after it has been running...
The whining started when I replaced my PSU. I was running the same setup with a corsair PSU before without any whine. Btw the coil whine has disappeared again, I'm starting to think it could indeed have something to do with temperature.
Tbh it's a bit worrisome to me. My last PSU was Corsair and it was solid as a rock, not a peep and I had it for years. I just hope the SX600-G holds up...
I got my unit a few days back and also initially heard an enormous amount of coil whine every time I moved my mouse. This disappeared after a short time and I haven't heard anything since. I hope it stays that way. ;)
EDIT: Scratch that, still getting coil whine. Seems to happen both when I...
Another minus is that you have to mount yet another dust filter. If the PSU pulls air from within the case then you only need dust filters on one side (+ bottom). But if it pulls air from the other side then you need dust filters on both sides.
I think I'll have mine pulling air from inside the...
Thanks, cleared things up a bit. Would the Samsung 840pro/850 be faster than the Plextor M6e? And which new interface are they developing?
It's a bit annoying we're in the middle of this whole battle of interfaces...sounds like we'll have to upgrade our MB to get x4 PCI-E by the time things...
Does using an M.2 SSD have any effect on GPU performance? I've read something about the M.2 slot sharing the PCIe lane, but am a bit confused about what that actually means.
I'm currently using a HDD, but was thinking of switching to an M.2 SSD (and skipping the whole SATA 2.5" SSD market...
Nice build. So the consensus is to have the PSU mounted so that it pulls air from inside the case? Also, do the grills that come with the case have a purpose or just for show? :)
Anyone know when this will be available again in the EU? All sites are listing it as out of stock. Last component I need to move my build into the NCASE. :(
Thanks, good 'ol case of RTFM. So since fast boot is enabled and I've got a keyboard plugged in, that leaves me with the everything OK "VGA detected" option. Kind of annoying that you can't disable it. Oh well, guess I'll go ahead and remove the speaker then..
I'm getting a short beep during startup POST, I guess it's just a "system OK" indication. Is there a way of turning it off, or will I just have to unplug the speaker? Or does the beep mean something is wrong?
