The only thing i couldn't do was install asus suite 3.
I've been able to install AiSuite III three times so far.. 1st time went smoothly, but the 2nd time was a massive mess and wouldn't install correctly. Ran the AiSuite III cleaner (a 2nd time), rebooted, and then everything finally installed correctly the 3rd time.

Also, after running the cleaner, be sure to right-click on the main setup installer and choose "run as administrator".
It's really personal preference, but I'd strongly recommend using AiSuite only for the FanXpert portion of the software.. and don't run whatever fan auto-tuning and benchmark they have (as this will limit your control below 60% duty.. giving you only 60% to 100% control and then 0% with fan stop). And don't touch ANY of the other power-saving, digi-power, and related crap (anything to do w/CPU or RAM), and adjust those only in the BIOS if needed. Everytime I adjusted anything other than fan profiles, it only seemed to make things worse (always accidentally end up hitting some vaguely labeled auto-overclock button that would give me blue screens until I put the BIOS back to defaults).
Just my opinion though.. your mileage may vary.
One thing that doesn't work is the supplied FanXpert 3 software: it's reading the value labelled "CPU" in HWiNFO off the Nuvoton chip (NCT6791D) when it needs to be reading "CPU (PECI)". The latter gives the core temperature, the former some external temperature. Under Prime95, "CPU" still reads 45C while "CPU (PECI)" reads a much more reasonable 69C.
I've noticed that when AiSuite and FanXpert are showing an oddly low CPU temp at load, they actually seem to be controlling the fans at whatever the true internal temperature is.
For example, if you have fan-stop set to 60C and it's reading only 45C, the fans will still kick on and follow the defined curve.. it's only the reading that seems screwed-up.
Fanxpert takes its reading from a thermistor under the Cpu, instead of the core temps. This follows recommendation in the Intel specification.
However, I don't have a Z87 or newer board yet, so it's possible they changed something.
Check the manual: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/Z97I-PLUS/E9272_Z97I-PLUS.pdf

Although offtopic, I used a NH-L12 on the Z87E-ITX in the Ncase M1 case, which is somewhat specific about compatible heatsink. It will depend on your case a lot. The Z97E-ITX/ac has the same socket placement as the Z87E-ITX.
I'm getting Crucial M550 M.2 - anyone has this already?
I hope its compatible...
I can confirm that this works. Showed up in bios right away and is currently running Windows 10 flawslessly. No issues with hibernation or booting. There is a tiny screw with a bolt on it on the motherboard that you have to remove and fasten the SSD with.
Hey Everyone !
Can anyone confirm temperatures you are getting after long temp system load(gaming, benchmarking etc) ?
I had a HWmonitor installed, and after abt 1-2 hours of Gaming session - I saw MB temp as 102 Deg. Celsius....
Also got a feeling that VRM heatsink is kinda lousy attached to the MB - it is tall, but attached only by two spring screws which do not provide good pressure.
Thanks
HWmontior might be wrong.
Have you tried to remove the protective foil from the northbrigte heatsink?
The Asus Z97I-Plus got one. Strange ...
