I found the solution!!!!
After doing all the workaround things that MS suggested, I went to Bethesda's home page and found a patch. Applied the patch, and it works fine now! :D
...."Are you running XP64?"
No, XP personal edition, with service pack 2. What bugs me is that this game worked a few weeks ago. The fact that MS has a problem log devoted to it leads me to think one of their updates is causing the problem.
....."Hope someone can help...bump for you as I know how frustrating it is not to be ale to play games or figure out a problem!"
Thanks. I'm sure it is a gift from Microsoft (nothing like using your customer base for beta testing) but I am having a hell of a time finding the problem. I am...
All of a sudden I am getting this message when trying to play Morrowind. I am running Windows XP with all the updates and service packs. Microsoft has a workaround for this, which includes renaming Amdfix.sys (not found on my PC) and tweaking the Creative Audigy sound card (which I don't have...
I've seen the artists pics for this - very neat. Hope some nutcase doesn't decide to topple it for Allah. Maybe were getting close to the day when building will be over a mile tall (although I can't see any practical reason for building one)
I told him to get lost and didn't see him for the rest of the game. I was looking for him for a bit, as there is a very high point in a mountain range where you can push him off.
Killing Maglir was also satisfying. He reminds me of someone I went to school with.
I'm not sure what Iraq has to do with Google censoring political information on its search engine in China. The point was the staggering hypocrisy of Google to do so. I don't trust them.
My own opinion is that people who constantly drop the F bomb have a rather limited vocabulary. I had a drill sergeant back in the army (about 200 years ago) who was a Christian and never swore. However, with a few words, he could make you feel about 1 inch tall.
I'd tell your son to ignore...
Oblivion is a great game. I liked it so much that I reloaded my Morrowind game and am now maybe 1/10 of the way through. The characters in Morrowind are pretty rude, however...
Google? The company whos motto is "do no wrong" (or something like that) and then went and censored their search engine in China to the demands of the communist government?
Yeah, I had to do a stint at Home Depot after the dot-bomb market imploded (not the reason I was layed off, but made finding an IT job much harder here). I do mainly production support now - kind of gun shy getting back into full fledged programming.
I have 2 cats, and they pretty much leave the PC alone. The only time they jump up on the desk is if I am eating something and they are hoping for a handout. As long as there isn't anything "interesting" on the desk, they leave it alone.
Home Depot and possible Lowe's sell plexiglass, True Value Hardware sells it and also cuts it. It is a bitch to cut - I would buy it at True Value and have them cut it for you.
And here is the question - my current drive is an older IDE. The SATA is a SATA 2, which my motherboard supports.Would I notice a big difference if I put WinXP on the SATA, and use the old drive for the paging file? I would rather leave the OS on the IDE drive and not have to reinstall in on...
It was scary how closely Dilbert mirrored EDS when I worked there. 2 strips in particular were when Dilbert's boss implemented Battlin' Business Units and project BIFF (Big Improvements For Free). Dilberts task under BIFF was to find ways to increase profits without spending money or changing...
I am going to be ordering a new hard drive this Friday, either the 500Gb SATA barracuda or the 320Gb. My current drive is a 36 Gb IDE that I pirated from my old dell.
Anyway, what I want to do is make the SATA drive my primary drive, with the OS.
From what I have read here, the way to go...
glad you posted this. I am ordering a SATA drive this Friday from NewEgg, and I plan to make the SATA the primary drive, and use the IDE for storage. I was wondering if this would cause any problems, and it sounds like it doesn't.
AVG is also good antivirus software. They have both a free and registered version.

Ad-aware is good for spyware - also a free version available.
If you don't go to too many "shady" websites (you know what I mean), malicious viruses & spyware shouldn't be a huge...
Nice chair. I almost bought it at BB, but got a mesh chair on Ebay for a pretty good price. I was pretty worried too, cause Ebay de-listed the seller after I purchased it (I guess he had some shady transactions) but it arrived fine. What I like about the mesh chair is it keeps me cool during the...
I don't know what to think about private investigators. I found out one was in my yard spying on a neighbor (his ex was trying to get him declared an "unfit father"). If I knew she was in my yard at the time I would have happily called the cops on her. On the other hand, a PI really saved my...
With the artifacting, I am thinking his card might be bad if reseating it doesn't work. My first build had a bad card that I had to return to NewEgg, and being impatient I went out to Best Buy and bought the best ATI they had in stock at that store, and ate the NewEgg restocking fee.
There are some great looking cases here. I have a Tsunami, but I haven't gotten around to dressing up the case yet (the fact that I got the thing to work in the first place was an accomplishment in itself.) This thread has given me some good ideas.
Hmmm - I have a Sony LCD. The problem seems to be slowly getting worse. The fan on my power supply is adjustable - but that didn't sem to make any difference. The strange part is that the rippling only seems to be happening in the upper right hand corner.
Are there settings I can check to...
I'm having a strange problem - when I have the drivers for my video card installed, the test (when using MS word for example) ripples in the upper left hand corner. Can this be a problem with too much power being sent through the card?
Here's a question then - my Tsunamai case doesn't have as many pre-drilled holes as there are holes on the gigabyte MB. Would anyone recommend drilling hols in the case for the unmatched holes on the MB, or is this overkill?
I'm having a DVD problem myself - where Windows does not detect a blank CD (but Nero does).
Anyway -
1) is your firmware up to date?
2) did you install anything else after it was working?
3) If it is a bootable drive, can you boot up with it?
For some reason, the CD/DVD drive I have is not detecting blank disks in Windows. I've tried several different disc brands, but to no avail. I did have it reading them at one point after updating the firmware, but after rebooting it wouldn't read them again. Now I can't even uninstall the...
