I found the solution!!!! After doing all the workaround things that MS suggested, I went to Bethesda's home page and found a patch. Applied the patch, and it works fine now! :D

Yeah, I had to do a stint at Home Depot after the dot-bomb market imploded (not the reason I was layed off, but made finding an IT job much harder here). I do mainly production support now - kind of gun shy getting back into full fledged programming.

I have 2 cats, and they pretty much leave the PC alone. The only time they jump up on the desk is if I am eating something and they are hoping for a handout. As long as there isn't anything "interesting" on the desk, they leave it alone.

Home Depot and possible Lowe's sell plexiglass, True Value Hardware sells it and also cuts it. It is a bitch to cut - I would buy it at True Value and have them cut it for you.

And here is the question - my current drive is an older IDE. The SATA is a SATA 2, which my motherboard supports.Would I notice a big difference if I put WinXP on the SATA, and use the old drive for the paging file? I would rather leave the OS on the IDE drive and not have to reinstall in on...

I'm having a DVD problem myself - where Windows does not detect a blank CD (but Nero does). Anyway - 1) is your firmware up to date? 2) did you install anything else after it was working? 3) If it is a bootable drive, can you boot up with it?
