It is not so much the elimination of jobs as it is shifting the location of the jobs....in this instance truckers. Long hauls are going to be automated, and it will happen quickly when liability and insurance regulations are hammered out. There is a lot of money behind this push, and it will...
Many years ago, when Schumacher was in the middle of his glory years at Ferrari, they showed cockpit video similar to that shown in the opening post. Before every turn, on every lap, his right hand would come off the wheel, and reappear less than a second later. The commentators were...
As was mentioned above this isn't in the same class as the D3 receivers. Pioneer/Onkyo just put an "Elite" badge on a VSX. Not knocking it as it is a pretty decent deal.
I had turned 30 about the time Duke was released. Doom, Duke and Quake were my intros to computer gaming (oh the joy of running GLQuake.exe the first time). Sadly, I don't think I ever finished Duke.
The Apple Corporation's primary responsibility is to it's stockholders. US lawmakers wrote the tax laws. Apple legally exploits those laws.
Well done Apple....well done.
Really light this year. I got two SSDs, a 480gig Sandisk Ultra 2 and a 500gig BX100 for about $100 each to replace a pair of 256 gig SSDs in my lappy and Jr's desktop. Steam was finally getting the better of those previous SSDs. Couln't justify the cost of higher end SSDs as these are likely...
Could be best to avoid the 840 EVO series. I don't know if Samsung ever got their problems fixed with the firmware updates. That being said, I have a 500 gig 840 EVO in my gaming rig, and have had no problems with it. Been through a lot of firmware updates though.
You have different levels of "SHTF". At some levels gold and silver are valuable trading commodities and are a reasonably compact form of hard currency. Once you reach a level of mass shortages of water and food, then precious metals are just shiny things to play with. Ammo becomes the new gold.
Depends. I paid electrical on one of my rental houses while fixing it up. It was an all electric house, no natural gas and I remember it being under 5 cents. At the same time my house was about 8 cents but it has gas heating/water heater/stove.
Tried to edit my post saying that, but no go. Thought it would be neat to have a plug in hybrid to take advantage of this deal, but there is/was fine print about usage limits.
TXU and I think a few more utilities have the free night time electricity deal going on. If your house is occupied during the day, like mine, then it isn't such a great deal due to AC demand during the late morning/afternoon. Elon Musk and his home battery systems would be popular here.
Incredible cards in their time. First time with Half-Life, 8830, and a proper surround system was scary good. It is because of what Happened to Aureal that I haven't spent a penny on any Creative product since Aureal folded.
I ended up with an Asus Xonar a couple months ago for my HTPC...
I got a little embarrassed at Wally Mart. I had no idea how to use the new card reader and the cashier was a bit lost as well. Another cashier helped us out. You have a new slot that reads the chip, and it takes a few seconds to do its thing.
Amazon seems to be using USPS a bit more the last year. USPS lost one shipment and damaged another. No problems with UPS, no losses, damages, or late. The affiliated venders have been reliable, for the most part. I have one order that had shown "preparing to ship" for 4 days. It will still...
We will be able to reverse engineer something that looks like a dinosaur, but it won't be one. Without an actual dino DNA sample it`s all just guesses.
Two thoughts on that- First, if there was ever a time to get out of the conventional LED panel business, now would be the time. Prices continue to drop, and OLED panels will be so cheap, LED suppliers would be driven under.
Sharp 4K panels, the larger 60-70 inch ones, have color problems...
Depends on your definition of "use". An art deco masterpiece as pictured above is just a wonder to look at. I feel the same about much of the custom coachwork done during the 1920s and 30s here in the US.
Youngling? Years ago about every PC came with an internal dialup modem. People ran surge suppressors on their power, but always seemed to neglect protecting the phone line. I used to have stacks of used modems during the broadband transition when I was swapping them out for network cards.
I still have a lot of clients that live in the country. Years ago dialup was the only option (most are on wireless now) and phone lines were cause #1 of fried systems. I don't remember seeing a surge make it past a PSU, but I sure replaced a bunch of modems and motherboards back then...
The simple truth is this. If given a choice where it is on the line, a pilot will choose a fixed wing US plane over any Soviet/Russian designed plane no matter how "neat" they perform in air shows. I don't think there will be any SU-2X/SU-3X/MIG envy from F-35 pilots. Ask India how all their...
Do it the way Texas does electricity. One 3rd party company does line maintainance, hooks up new service etc. The customer chooses from the suppliers/plans that are offered. I have 44 different plans from 13 suppliers to choose from. No reason cable couldn't be the same really. The lack of...
Well, what about this scenario: All of your other staples (unbleached organic flour, your gourmet unprocessed raw sugar, organic tofu, your 100% recycled paper towel, Dr Bronner's organic castile soap, and Tide Free are pulled and waiting for you to drive by and load your Prius up. No lines...
Just playing Devil's advocate..........................If humans were seeded on this planet, we wouldn't share a genetic commonality with bacteria, flora, other fauna, and fungi. The fact we do share commonalities pretty much means we evolved here, and were not introduced/seeded.
Anytime you have 80+ reviews for a $14K HDMI cable................................

More power to 'em. Not always the cheapest, but on the rare occasion(s) you have a problem, they step up and take care of it (like USPS losing one, and damaging another package in the space of 2 weeks).
I have that Tripplite ISObar 6 outlet unit. About 10-11 years old. My electricity is clean in my house, no feedback or anything from other equipment.
One step up is a dedicated power filter like...
I sold the hell out of CX430s up until this year. Only reason I haven't sold many recently is that most clients just use a laptop now, or a few have some oddball small form factor setup.
I have 4 ATX PCs, and two are running on CX430s for at least two years, and no hiccups. Never had a...
Gave up DirecTV months ago. There are two companies that will never receive another penny from me......AT&T and Creative. Time-Warner would be on the list, but they currently have me over a barrel.
When we lost fingers, or a hand, to an M-80 it just meant we had a cool story for when we went back to school. Kids today with 10 fingers never had real fun.
