I can easily fit a small switch into the cabinet with the wires, it even has a power outlet inside so I don't have to run power from anywhere.
Thank you guys for the help, I just ordered all the stuff I think I'll need.
So it would be fine to just remove the cables from the existing block, terminate them with a RJ45 plug, and plug them directly into a switch? No need to go through a patch panel?
Oops, forgot to mention that I don't need the phone lines. I was hoping to just use the blue wires and the existing patch panel, but I wasn't sure if that was possible or where to hook it up to the "Internet In" type of line.
For the first option: I've got a router already, if I plugged a cable...
Hi all,
I'm in the process of cutting the cord and going to an HTPC setup, but in order to do that, I would prefer to have a hard wired network rather than wireless.
The good thing is that there is already cat5e cable run to all of the rooms, only it's currently being used only as phone...
Yeah you don't want a Raidmax PSU. I would only go with Corsair or Antec for the PSU. The Raidmax case would be fine tho, it's what I have.
For the mobo and CPU, the combo gwarren posted is way better than that one.
You could probably get a better vid card for the price if you went with ATI...
That a pretty solid build. But you still need a monitor, keyboard and OS. Maybe we could get you a cheaper vid card or something. I'm not sure where I would cut back on that build, it's very nice.
I'll get back here tomorrow.
I've been using SmartDefrag for defrag for a while now and it seems pretty nice. You can set it to automatically defrag every time your computer is idle. When you come back to work, it will pause that defrag and pick it back up later when you leave again.
I got it from download.com searching...
Just picked up this set today and I was hoping to get some custom calibration settings for it before I go out and buy a calibration DVD.
Anyone done it?
