Seasonic FOCUS PLUS Platinum 650W PSU Review

Seasonic is back again today with another of its mid-tier computer power supplies, this time the Focus Plus is Platinum rated, which seems to be exceptionally good for a "mid-tier" product. It has a small profile, is fully modular, and carries on the Seasonic tradition of quiet quality at a very affordable $100 price, all with a 10 year warranty.

It's sad to contrast this with the GPU industry.

In PSUs we have lots of competition, and some of the best PSUs come from a company that is scrupulously honest with reviewers.
As a result, that supplier gets my PSU dollars, every time I build a system, pretty much without regard to any price difference that might exist.

In contrast, over in GPUs, there's no competition at the high end, and the lead supplier of high-end GPUs seems slimier than snot.
As a result, well, I guess I don't really need a new GPU any time soon.

Maybe Intel will get GPUs right this time. Maybe then GPU marketing will get cleaned up by the forces of competition.
But I'm not betting on it.
 
Good efficiency, great warranty, good price. Can't complain.

I hope we can someday see 10 year warranties on other PC components as well.
