The porn industry is planning to drop Flash? Wow, you know your tech sucks when the porn industry abandons you.

The founder of Digital Playground, one of the porn heavyweights in the U.S., told ConceivablyTech that it will abandon Flash as soon as the desktop browsers fully support HTML 5. We also learned that 3D is just not there yet and that online movie streaming is unlikely to replace Blu-ray discs anytime soon.

I just got Flash on my Droid and now my pronz is going to move away from it? :(

Hopefully Android has HTML5 video support by the time they make the switch. I enjoy my bathroom breaks at work and my night strolls in the park. :D

that’s not good news unless we can download the video (flv) file

I completely agree.
Crazy how the porn industry has better business sense than most others.

Now watch as Flash on the iPhone becomes a complete non-issue when discussing it's flaws and merits on tech forums. :p

Doesnt' surprise me. Flash is now a sloppy secondary medium, which has been overworked and rubbed raw by the industry. Replacing it shouldnt take too long, now that a prettier interface has crashed the party; the industry is just throbbing in anticipation of having the new medium ooze all over the customers' screens. No amount of fluff or sweet nothings whispered from Adobe will excite the industry again; Adobe is spent. They should just roll over and have a cigarette, its over. They are no longer the impressive measuring stick they once were; they've shrunken down to a nub in the cold waters of the internet and modern technology. Now that they've been busted, these nuts at Adobe are now feeling the pain, as better offerings have latched onto the housing of their business model and taken a large bite out of it.

The new tech is proudly displaying their mating ritual in a show of dominance, and has become their fixed action pattern (FAP) which will continue to repeatedly shoot Adobe down in a humiliating display. Adobe is now a non-starter.

Should it be easier to download file? There is no proper DRM in HTML5 in yet is there?

Good Work!

Flash has much better content protection compared to HTML5. So either they have decided that it is not worth any amount of their time to try and protect the videos, or they are going to come up with their own player to keep people from copying the videos.

Aww so the girls in the porn industry aren't going to flash their boobs anymore? That sucks.

i just updated flask a couple minutes ago. guess it was a waste of time. :D

Idc as long as real player can still download these embedded video's or w.e...

If it's supported by HTML5 my guess is that, as a STANDARD, all of this will be easier than downloading a flash video.

Would someone knowledgeable explain to me and maybe others why HTML5 is the future?

And why the move from flash to html5 in this regard?

I've been around awhile but I admit that the back end of the internet, at it's core, how it works, specs, etc isn't one of the things I keep tabs on.

Thanks in advance!

HTML5 kills plugin dependency. IE, the ability to display videos and such. Drag and dropping text with no plugins, etc.
It won't kill Javascript but it does lessen the dependency on that as well.
What with HTML5 GAMES becoming possible, Flash is pretty much dead.

Adobe has done too freaking little too freaking late to stay in the game.

Honestly it's just best (if you've got an HTML5 browser) just to go search for HTML5 demos...

The clothes are either on or off. No more of this Flash-ing bullshit. :p

most pay sites let you download avi/mp4 videos along with streaming with flash/html5 embedded video

Very informative FLECOM and you are speaking from experience I take it. Right? :D

J/K.

C'mon guys nothing to get riled up over, whatever they use next Haxors will figure it out. Just wait a week and Google. During that week, just get one of those swanky 3TB seagates and enjoy. Move Along. These aren't teh Pr0ns you're looking for. etc...

Most flash Pr0no is low Q anyways. Big whoop.... hahaha....

While flash support is nice in devices it's only necessary until there's a widespread alternative; because lets face it Flash is a turd, but it's ubiquitous.

Few things will really prompt users to go upgrade their browser. This will be one of those few.

I like getting off to divx more than flash. lolwut

I'll acknowledge HTML5 as a "flash killer" when it has the same level of content protection.

As HTML5 exists currently, ripping-off someones hard work is as easy as "right click, view source." I know a number of people will refuse to use it for their works because of this.

considering I work for one, I would say yes :p

and we have HD streaming flash and HTML5 ;)
