I'm with you there. I am wfh and have been able to do it within a few seconds and still have no card.Yea, I've been reacting to the Discord alerts within 5sec (I'm sitting at my PC most of the day) and still no luck
Honestly the Discord has not been helpful for me at all. Even monitoring it constantly and reacting within seconds, cards are already gone before the page can even load. Either retailers have like 3 cards to sell each "drop", or the notifications are way too late. Either way, luck or increasing supply is the only way you're going to get a card at this point.
random failure? like 90 % failure, I had three cards in cart both times and spammed checkout on desktop and the app and none went through. It is purely luck if you hit it at the right ms they release one to stock. I experienced a mini version of this getting my 2070S rental on Fri night, my discord threw in stock at 10:31 pm, I added to cart but in this case vacillated a bit if I wanted to get it. Half the time the checkout option would fail, I only tried 5x times total though before it went through at 10:37 pm. This is for a soon to be outdated and overpriced 2070S.Right now I think the best shot that is more amenable to humans is going for a fe at Best Buy using the mobile app set up for persistent log in. I also used Apple Pay for fast check out, but others just used their shaved payment method.
1) bb is entering stock into the system in weird sized chunks. Which means a drop is a bunch of mini land rushes instead of one big one.
2) with the app, if you fail to add to cart you can just hammer the add to cart button over and over after getting the error. If you use the web site you have to reload on each failure. At least I did, and the reload was slow. I don’t think the bots can use the same interface the mobile app does and you don’t get subject to the exact same process as the web.
3) this is speculative, but I suspect they have induced random failure into the check out process to thwart the bots.
All I hear you saying is that your "free" 3090 after scalping all the other cards you bought was worth $24/hr over the 75 hours you spent at MC in the past month ($1800/75). I can't think of anyone else in this forum who can afford to take almost two full work weeks to sit at MC over the past month or would even waste the time.
Most of my success has been using ApplePay on Newegg. 1 step purchase.I did the same thing and I've never been able to check out at any of the sites they set me too.
You get another 3080, you let me know. I'll pay $100 over whatever you end up paying. Too many things going on right now to track it all down. Most of my success has been using ApplePay on Newegg. 1 step purchase.
Maybe that will trigger a bunch of people to cancel, and push you to an earlier delivery date. Good luck.Dell updated their delivery date from OCT 21 to NOV 13... had to pay a $150 mark up price (no I didn't have a premier account for a discount), but I think I will actually get it...
Would not count on it, this is as generic a Dell email as it gets. Technically I ordered quite early, using a valid premier account and have received the confirmation email but no delay notice at all. My ship date still shows yesterday lol, according to some speculation I should be in Group A with cards going out this week by these markers but having dealt with Dell none of that means anything till you have the product in hand. I could say the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing there bt it's more like each finger of each hand has no clue what the rest are up to. Sure you can find good support agents and even sales people who will give you a great deal but their internal systems are so opaque no one really has the whole picture.Dell updated their delivery date from OCT 21 to NOV 13... had to pay a $150 mark up price (no I didn't have a premier account for a discount), but I think I will actually get it...
Nope. Once the 13th comes around you going to get another delay email I bet.Dell updated their delivery date from OCT 21 to NOV 13... had to pay a $150 mark up price (no I didn't have a premier account for a discount), but I think I will actually get it...
We are now close to the Navi launch. I can't muster up the energy to buy a 3080 now. We'll know which company has their act together in November.I gave up looking and ordered an Asus Tuf 3090 from Provantage for slightly under msrp. Backordered so might wait a month, but whatever. If my evga auto notify hits before then I will either cancel the provantage order or hook someone up if it comes in. I work 10 hours a day, I just don't have time to search lol.
Not sure about that. It depends entirely on what AMD brings to the table, and the launch date and price of the 20GB 3080. If the 20GB model comes out in January at $1000, I don't think I'd feel bad having paid $700 for the 10GB one.At this point, buyers remorse on the 3080 10GB is inevitable.
We can't get cards anyway so yeah, I guess we'll see what AMD brings. Don't really have a choice, lol.We are now close to the Navi launch. I can't muster up the energy to buy a 3080 now. We'll know which company has their act together in November.

Something about all of this just doesn't add up. Per MLID Nv wants to flood the market after Navi is launched, ok, but wouldn't it be better to flood the market in the 40 days you have no competition and take millions of upgraders off the market for this cycle. In this scenario even if Navi was marginally faster, most folks would stick with the $700 card they got a month ago.Well, as long as AMD doesn't do a BS force launch with minimal stock like Nvidia, they can take a nice chunk out this time.
I agree, it doesn't make sense to hold back cards right now. The only play I can see is trying to drive up hype to a point where more people will buy the higher-margin cards (FTW3 Ultra, Aorus cards, etc.) more readily because they are the only ones available, but even those have been in pitiful quantities so far. Really it just seems like there is a production/supply issue, which is unfortunate for everyone. Artificially limiting cards until near/after Big Navi just seems like losing more potential customers if AMD is competitive (which from all accounts it appears they will be this time).Something about all of this just doesn't add up. The time frame is near, there's no need to make a hasty purchase. We waited 2+ years for new cards, so what's two more weeks? Not sure about that. As someone who has worked in competitive strategy for several big tech companies, this is 100% correct. I laugh every time I see the "intentional shortage" narrative. Trust me, no CEO wants, in an even somewhat competitive market, to explain to shareholders what's happening with the 3xxx right now.Something about all of this just doesn't add up. Exactly, I analyze sales and marketing data for a large valley firm (software but still same principles apply) and if we had a 40 day lead on a finished product/service we could roll out today versus a competitor you bet we would fire on all cylinders to do so. Playing mind games with customers just isn't a good long term strategy. As someone who has worked in competitive strategy for several big tech companies, this is 100% correct. Per MLID...
Well that right there might be why it doesn't make sense.
Anyone saying that Nvidia isn't making cards right now because they don't want to make cards is blowing conspiracy theories up your ass.
I can 100% promise you that they would much rather be selling cards than not selling cards. They are a company, and their whole purpose is to profit.
What baffles me about this whole launch is that none of the screaming weenies seems to have made the connection yet. Tech toys are in high demand and short supply? Oh me oh my, you don't think that might have something to do with the global pandemic that started the year by eating the eastern hemisphere's lunch, do you? Nah, no way, tenuous connection, complete coincidence...
That's also why they are in the situation they are in. If they were willing to wait, this could be avoided. Instead of launching the product as soon as it is ready and production is finished, they could sit on it for 3-6 months and build up huge warehouses of the product. Then when hey launched, there would be tons to go around. However they didn't do that, they launched as soon as they could. The reason is they wanted sales NOW, they wanted to beat AMD to market. Not because they are evil and didn't want to sell cards, but because they DO want to sell cards and want to sell them ASAP.
Also something else to notice about the pandemic is that isn't hasn't just had an effect on supply but demand too. Part of the reason people are so grabby with these cards is COVID. If you still have a job, you probably have more disposable income than you did pre pandemic as there is less to do. Combine that with the feeling of needing to do SOMETHING and people are extra excited to spend their money on this.
I'm sure you've seen those leaked UK EVGA retailer numbers showing the WEAK supply. Pandemic or not, still weak AF.That's also why they are in the situation they are in. Evga has not even sold more than a couple of hundred 3080s through their own notification system set up a couple weeks back. Their step up lines have not budged either...if production were normal getting through a waitlist a few thousand long would take days, may be a week but at current pace it's gonna be months even quarters....I't sure you've seen those leaked EVGA retailer numbers showing the WEAK supply. More like Day 1 Hour 2 people...only for FTW3 Ultra. Other models haven't even started ... yea supply is normal.is EVGA still notifying day 1 people?
I don't think they were ready to launch when they did. His point is more Nvidia doesn't want to sell $699 cards. It's more like put something out there until the cards they WANT to sell (20GB cards) are ready. The fact that people are already willing to pay $150 over the "MSRP" on that MSI card from Dell shows there is some validity to what he's saying IMO. Obviously, others have different opinions.Something about all of this just doesn't add up.
