New Radeon R600 Name

Wired’s Gadget Lab has posted a rumor that the new naming scheme for the R600 series will be the Radeon HD 2900 XT. The rumor chain is long and hard to follow but almost everyone agrees on the name. Nothing else new, we’ve all seen the pricing and specs for weeks and the high-res pictures of the board itself the other day…the only thing left is for the card to launch.


Rumor has it that AMD/ATI has finally, officially named its forthcoming powerhouse video card, the R600-based beast that will offer 24x antialiasing, so as to offer unneeded performance-thrashing options that will remind you of the beed buy something more powerful when it comes along. It will be named the "ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT." I think an X ot two has gone missing somewhere.

Keep refreshing the page......you could name this card just about anything you want......and most of all......does it matter.......nobody has one to use anyway.
 
This was sourced off a Chinese site originally two days ago...hence the grammar. Same place we got the pictures from before they were pulled down.
 
AMD/ATi does need to drop some Xs from their card names. X2900XTX just doesn't seem right.
