I'm not interested in anything Intel these days... I'm really happy with my 2700X. Are any of you planning on buying the i9-9900K? I'm just wondering if the shortage is because there is a real demand or because they are having problems making them.
Super excited for this. Worlds greatest gaming CPU .. hell yeah! I'm sure they will have shortages and tons of demand.
All of my friends only FW Intel.
I remember building a client a 10 Core Intel a few years ago. Was so jealous. Getting 8 cores soon. Only 2 cores away lol.
SO many reasons to upgrade from a 4770K...Last CPU I bought was the 4770k. No need to even upgrade at this point when it OC's at 4.7 Ghz all day long and it's still not even delided.
This story would be better with data. Like, how many have been delivered to retailers.

Dumb ass sheep jumping on everything Intel pukes out, they cant even get their process right.
Based on how hot the 9900k is and how little of an overclock you can get out of it even with water I'm guessing the issue with that one is yield. These have to be cherry picked dies to run that close to the edge at "stock" speeds.
What is the difference between super custom water and custom water? Special additives? Half beer?If you want " Good enough " get the 2700X. If you want the fastest possible gaming chip get the 9900K ( I am in the 2nd category )
Yes this dumb ass wants the fastest gaming CPU at all times so why go with anything else? I even have DDR4-4600 G. Skill RGB memory in my computer. Why? Because its the fastest and I am at a point in my life like a lot of gamers that have good jobs and make good money and can afford to always upgrade to the fastest.
You can get 9900K to overclock better by delidding and then lapping down the processor .2mm which I plan on doing. I am on super custom water. I will also be live streaming all this on my Twitch channel "Elmnator".

You should watch his live-streams. He fabricates his own water cooling parts from scratch using tools in his shop. Not everything, but some of it. Then he used stuff like custom fabricated pieces from entrpreneurs trying to break into the business. Elmy 's work is great to watch on Twitch. I find solace in watching a pile of copper pipes become a computer workstation with a complete custom water loop.A 2x bonus on e-peen.

I like my 2700x build as well. Works great, less filling
Suck it Intel.
Yes!So it's more like professionally done custom water? I'll have to check it out. Amazing that people have time to do this stuff.
12 Cores are coming according to stuff I've seen on the net.I like AMD, and want to buy their products, but I just can't make it work right now.
All the Ryzen chips only have 24x PCIe lanes, and no matter how I swing it, I can't make my build work with that few lanes.
Threadripper has 64x lanes, which is absolutely nuts, but 16C/32T for a 2950x is complete overkill core wise for anything I'll ever do, and between the motherboad and the CPU it's also a lot of cash.
This CPU, the 9900k only has 16x lanes directly to the CPU, but the chipset adds another 24x lanes. This winds up being usable to me, where Ryzen isn't.
I really wish there were a mainstream Ryzen with more lanes (or a cheaper 2nd gen threadripper with fewer cores)

I meant ThreadRipper Second Generation 12 Core CPU. I saw some guys on Twitter speculating about it the other day. That does not help the problem with PCIe lanes. However in Zen4 I think the problem will no longer be much of an issue with the increased bandwidth per lane provided your new hardware can use PCIe 4.0.

I have a feeling a 9th Gen isn't going to be much upgrade from my i5-8400 for gaming...

Oh I'm sure. But World of Tanks really doesn't need that level of computing power when I'm not playing on a 4k monitor.

I don't know.
I think the 9900k has potential.
Yes, it's probably highly binned, yes, it runs hot stock, yes, overclocking margins are razor thin, but it is also the only 8 core chip out there you can buy without sacrificing the per core performance of Intel's top performing quad core chips.
If you want 8 cores, and you don't want to sacrifice per core performance, this is pretty much it. If I were shopping today (which I only half-heartedly am, because my old [email protected] still runs well enough that I have a tough time justifying getting rid of it) it would be between this 9900k, a threadripper or whatever 7nm brings to AMD. It's not an easy choice.
That said, even the best CPU in the world is useless if you can't actually buy it

My computer starts about 37 seconds in this video.
Super Custom Water
Nice. Did you wanter cool the power supply, too, or is that a bridge too far safety wise?
