Grand Theft Auto V

Don't waste your time, just use SMAA.

How are you running SMAA?

I tried RadeonPro but it introduces a framerate hiccup which is detectable by going into any open area, and spinning the camera. Every few seconds you will see a slight hitch. I was only able to cure it by stopping RadeonPro.

I'm getting lag a lot while driving, need more ram or am I cpu limited? Check sig need to know if it's time to upgrade.

Anyone know why GTA V received such a low approval rating on Steam? Most games I have seen have Metacritic ranking generally placed lower than player reviews (I put that down as those who buy games are usually the ones that are more interested in it, thus being biased), but for GTA V it's completely the other way round, huge metacritic rating yet barely 80% from players.

Hmmm could be alot of peoples PC's couldn't run it? Or the huge 71GB download? Or.....who the fuck knows, everyone on the internet has to bitch or complain about somethings, because hell every is entitled to bitch now!

Long live the internet!

Compare actual high critic rated games and you will see that is not the case -

Just running FXAA alone leaves a lot of temporal aliasing, especially during the bright daytime. And if you don't run MSAA you get the dithering effect in the distant objects which looks really bad.

Really wish this game had Filmic SMAA T2X from Advanced Warfare. It would look perfect then.

I settled on 1440p VSR with FXAA on my 290x @ 1080p.
1/2 the performance penalty of 4xMSAA.

Try DSR if NVidia.

At native 1080p are there any other VSR options lower than 1440p?

Only 2048x1536 4:3.
Give it a try at 2560x1440.

A 290 user tried 3200x1800 earlier today and reported no performance loss.

I doubt that is "completely" true unless he was heavily under utilising his GPU or was fully CPU limited. He has a slightly faster CPU than me.
It shows that its worth a try.

I'm not noticing any difference, as far as actual gameplay, my frames are staying within the same range they were when I was running 2560x1440 with FX and 2xMSAA, I'm just using FXAA now with 3200x1800.

*Edit

I'm also not the only one noticing no performance loss if you read the user who I took their advice, is having the same results, its worth the try. looking at Ugndim's benchmark it says otherwise however.

Oh man the Armored Kuruma is a really solid investment online.
Definitely buy one if you can spare $550k.

I personally like the Heavy Insurgent :D. 1.3mil to get it...but much fun can be had with a friend in the .50 cal gunner seat running from a 5-star wanted level.

Also looks like you tested with 2xMSAA because my performance hit for 4xMSAA is a lot higher.

yeah i have both, karuma is nice for solo play and missions, Insurgent is amazing when friends are on.

Yeah, the garages are my one gripe with the game so far. All I want is a garage where I assign a specific car to a space, and it'll reappear there if I ditch/destroy it, like each character's main vehicle does. How hard could that be? Instead, you have to be totally anal about always parking in the garage just in case you lose it either through neglect, or because the game decides to switch it on you on mission. The impound should be for vehicles you grab which aren't saved in garage spaces. With the 2 vehicle impound limit, which I believe includes any random car you jack, there's not much point upgrading anything other than your primary vehicle.

I don't like the garage idea at all and much prefer the garage in Saints Row. I want to be able to get any car from any garage. You can place a limit on it and buying more garages increases the limit. The garagest an also look nice and contain a number of random cars from my list to fill it. More realistic is not always more better.

I was playing GTAO, accidentally tipped my motorcycle over in a river. The bike was totalled but I didn't realize it (the water was ankle deep).

First, I checked my quick menu to "Respawn Vehicle". It said: You don't have a personal vehicle. That was confusing.
Next, I called my mechanic. Selected my apartment, it said my motorcycle was destroyed and I would need to call insurance.
So now I call insurance, click through their menus and pay $200 to restore my bike.
Now I wait 30 seconds or so, and the bike spawns a few miles away at the insurance parking lot or whatever.
So I steal a random car, drive for a minute or two, and now I've got my motorcycle back.

All told, it took me at least 3-4 minutes to spawn my motorcycle. Fucking bullshit. By comparison it takes literally 5 seconds in Saints Row.

In real life it takes 3-4 weeks to get your insurance company to comp you for a replacement.

3-4 minutes in a video game is bullshit?? First world problems...

can't wait for those carebears to try out Star Citizen with its insurance system lol.

Still experiencing random freezes/CTD(I have to ctrl+alt+del to get task manager). It's getting annoying, I'll be doing a mission and bam it freezes. I do have almost everything maxed out graphically too. I've done what suggested already in this thread and on Reddit, I do lurk. It's getting annoying, I am pushing my hardware pretty hard but still, it was never a problem in FC4 or other games. Still, happy with R* and the outcome of GTA V, just hate the random freezes.

Am I the only one that prefers the feel of this game at 30fps over 60? Heh :embarrased

it just feels more like how I know GTA... 60 almost feels unnaturally smooth especially when cars collide, gives that saints row feel kind of

I've played a lot of new games at 30fps over the last few months, GTA 5 feels particularly worse than the others. Probably because of the smooth camera while driving, it makes the low fps more annoying.
Also, it's a shooter.

My evaluation of GTA online:

61620656.jpg

Seriously annoying. And then it loads a job, only to let you know the job is full, and then you have to load for another 2 minutes...

If you're doing jobs, join an Invite-only freeroam session. That speeds up loading. It also prevents you from being ganked and dropping all your money.
If you just want to dick around in freeroam then obviously join a public one.

The game has a hard time keeping your freeroam session in order. If you're joining public ones, each time you leave a job it will have to find a new one for you... And if you connect to a laggy one, it'll boot you to another session or send you back to single player. It's a huge hassle, just don't bother with it.

Yeah, the loading is absolutely ridiculous. What is also terrible is when you're trying to do a heist, and someone leaves or votes to go to freeroam, instead of going back to the lobby with 3 people and waiting for a fourth, you have to go through all those loading screens, reinvite the people hoping they would come back, and if not wait a minimum of 5 minutes trying to get 3 players.

Ok I'm pretty pissed off the fact that if you buy any of the garages around LS, you get a car, modify it and then save it, but once you save the 2nd or 3rd car the previous car disappears. I spent so much money modifying some of the muscles and now they are gone. It's like it gets overwritten.

Fucking pissed off.
