Battlefield 4 **Official Discussion Thread**

people have become so sensitive to 'hackusations' that the group mentality has changed. last week i accused a guy of cheating. he's the fourth person i've seen in BF4 that i really felt was cheating. in that server one other player agreed with me and a ton of other players went ape shit over 'hackusations'. stuff like "omg get better scrub" and "he kills you = he must be hacking right?" the next day the guy was banned from the server and this week he had his stats reset. i assume he's on his way to being pb banned if he's not already. sometimes you run across a cheater. the overzealous accusers are annoying but the blind defenders are worse in my opinion.

i used to not bother saying anything because i figured there was no point. i've voiced 3 of of the 4 i've suspected. i figure admins can use all the help they can get in keeping their servers clean.

I won't blind defend but 95% of people that say someones's hacking are wrong. I've seen two hackers ever I think.

The first time I got shot out a jet and the guy was across the map and had a pistol.... he also went 50 and 2 or something.

The second time I had just spawned in on Zavod with four other guys and a guy came running up and headshot all four of us in literally about a second. He was using iron sites the whole time, killed me 9 times and 8/9 times were headshots. I don't believe anyone's that good.

Other than that? very few hackers IMO.

DirectxFunction"Get Device Removed Reason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DRIVER_INTERNAL_ERROR

jesus lord!!! has anyone else been getting this error....sometimes i get it within 5 mins of playing sometimes 1 hr or never....

been i keep getting it constant! i have the 750 ti ftw and the TEMPS are completely fine...and ive done some overclocking as well.

i don't know of a way to see how many players log in each day. if anything though, that shows PB is working to some extent.

Ah! Interesting, any idea how to find out how many players are on in a given day? I'd be curious to know the percentage of 18 people per day.

You can see how many are playing at any given time via bf4stats.com. Keep in mind that Punkbuster actually catches a very small % of hackers, so the # of people hacking on any given day is going to be higher than that. I don't think 5% of the total players online at any given time is a stretch if you look at the subscriber base of the various for-pay hack sites.

The pay for hacks are very difficult to catch. If they are smart about it, they can go for years. I knew one guy who got caught after 2 years. He was in heavy competition and even participated in anti cheat reviews which caught cheaters! He had a "knack" for being in perfect position to catch flankers in sometimes really random places. No flashy stats though. So yeah, there is some reason to be a bit paranoid.

I'm tired of running around and getting my ass handed to me because I don't run with over people. Add me if you want.

PB is a joke and so is FF. I've seen legit players get banned from FF. The term hackers is grossly overused as well. These guys aren't hacking anything other than using overlays to show your location and an aimbot. Those magical 1 shot kills are aimbots. 95% of public overlays are detected through FF because they lack screen shot scrubbers. FF has currently 3 levels of suspension based off a players stats and once you are flagged, it's screen shit city. Everytime you see your radar disappear you are getting SS'd and the geek on the other end is reviewing it.

Where have you seen someone legit get banned? I think there were a couple spots you could manage to climb where you'd trip a KICK.

I think I've seen like 1 guy cheating in 110 hours of gameplay.

2 reasons why people are so sensitive:

1. Shitty players call hacks because they don't know what is and isn't possible in game. People are just fucking tired of hearing the non-stop whining. Wolf has been cried so many times by these little boys, no one believes them any longer. It's bad enough that DICE is catering to these "participation trophy" types by dumbing down the gameplay as much as they already have and bringing more into the game. I remember back in BF2, people rarely cried hax, and when they did it actually meant something.

2. The game is so god damned buggy, no one knows if for certain if someone is hacking unless it is blatant. "He shot me around the corner! HAX!" No, it could just as likely be the netcode. "There is no way he could see me there! Hax!" Maybe someone already spotted you and you are now a giant Dorito on everyone's screen? "He one shot me! Hax!" Did you not hear about the double hit registration issue or the fact that sometimes you don't hear every bullet that hits you? And every week there is a new god damned bug.

Because of #2, I have only been able to spot one guy who I was for certain was hacking. His user handle was TrevelonX. His BF4 page is already gone, but he still appears in google searches. In fact, someone spectated him and got youtube video proof of him cheating (some 2 weeks after I dealt with him no less), which is probably why he can't be found anymore. At 30 seconds in, you can see him shoot at one guy, but the second shot switches to the guy 5 feet away from him. Dead giveaway for an aimbot. Also watch how his gun sights follow every guy coming around corners (note that spectator mode has every player highlighted) which is also a dead giveaway for an aimbot + radar/wallhack. I researched FairFight and how it checks one stat called HSKR or headshot kill ratio. If HSKR reaches over 60% on some weapons, it automatically raises flags. Further research into fairfight proved that the best competitive gamers in the world have HSKR's in the low 30% range which makes the Fairfight statistic abnormally high. He kept claiming to be part of a competitive gaming clan 20ID, gave bogus urls to a twitch stream, etc. His name was no where to be found on the clan roster on their webpage. I did extensive googling, found his name pop up multiple times on forums for ban requests, then finally hit paydirt and found record of a banning on a server where he had a HSKR of greater than 65% with a T-88 LMG. Further searching had records where the flags would be raised but there was a definite trend downward until he settled on 30% HSKR with all his weapons. I hopped in his squad and watched him. He would literally stop mid run, do a 180, fire only 2 rounds out of suppressed M9 at a guy 50 meters away he couldn't possibly know was there because it was hardcore mode with no minimap. When I finally accused him, he started trolling me by one shotting me across the Hainan Resort map with a 93r. Only way I knew he was doing this was because it was friendly fire and I could see his player marker straight in front of me over 100 meters away while our entire team was inside the building.

Cool! They brought back the infamous "No Sound Bug" for TDM! I was hoping they would bring this back because I really enjoy playing with no sound.

I really bloody hope that this fixes the dam rubber band issues that I get all the time.

20id was a bf clan back in the day. a good one too. there was some shens with people claiming to be with them but were caught cheating. might be one of them. myself and some other teamates have been kicked by ff for exceeding kpm or kills per minute. we have only been banned by admins though. the kpm kicks came when tanking and wiping squads out quickly.

You probably got kicked by a server plugin, not Fair Fight. I've seen a few servers that do it.

Anyone try the game after the balance patch yet? Curious on the verdict whether the MAA nerf was effective... (please be nerfed hard please be nerfed hard please be nerfed hard)

Holy shit, they might have fixed it. So far so good. I really was affected by the netcode, and play seems much better now.

Well I had not played for about a week and when I went yesterday night to play I got an instant crash on join for every server I tried. That was a first for me and I have had a more bug-free experience than most.

Don't know if today's patch fixed that but I sure hope so.

Found a pretty good server after launch that wouldn't crash my game all to often. Got to know some of the players as we seemed to Play at the same time everyday on there. A few of us started twitch streaming our bf4 games to share among ourselves when one night I was watching his feed. He was playing locker via stream when he hucked a grenade and wiped 9 people out. Not even 2 mins after that, the feed goes blank.

I sent him a message laughing thinking his game crashed with such an epic match and he replied "just got placed on 24 hr suspension by ff"

a after the 24hr ban he was backup and playing when all of a sudden, a perm ban halts game play.

FF does not provide any proof to the user... There's no recourse to reverse these bans and EA doesnt care. What they do care about is offering discounts on bf4 every few months in hopes banned players will buy again. That's the reality of it all.

This was a quite common occurrence from oct-jan

some maps it is impossible to fly jets or heli's bc the AA can reach the whole map....

but i find that all armored vehicles take way too many RPGs to destroy them.

sitting there shooting 10 RPGs at a APC before its even disabled

I'm destroying my skill rating round after round in attack choppers, but it's so damn fun that I can't stop.

I'm running the TOW, and Zuni's, and you can destroy a tank in one pass. I found out that you can launch the TOW's, switch to the Hydra's, Zuni's or smart rockets, and still guide the TOW's at the same time you fire the other rockets.

/Haven't played since the balance patch.

that is good to hear

I have logged the most hours in the scout helis and dont have the TOW or Zuni's unlocked in the attach chopper.

ill have to put the time in.

I do find that i get into mode where I like playing as infantry for weeks at a time and then tanks, then heli's then jets.... and then the cycle starts again,

which is what makes BF so playable for long periods of time

Yep, you can do this in any vehicle. It's especially fun in the LAV. You can really dominate in LAV vs LAV engagements by doing that.

Heck, you can destroy tanks by hitting their flank hard too. It's great.

Yep attack boats this is key as well!

Personally I've always thought the firepower from the attack choppers were fine. I was always rolling Zuni's in the past and did just fine with em on coordinated attacks on armor and ground troops. (I like flying more than gunning now because it leaves me in control and I pride myself on going most of the round without getting killed)

I hope they didn't noobify the offensive weapons. Just last weekend had my random pub gunner go 55-10 on 1000 ticket Oman map. I don't agree with any of the firepower buffs because it was clear you needed to be damn good to dominate, not sure how it will affect game-play now.

Tow missiles might be fun but you're going to get raped by the endless harassment from jets and other choppers whom you won't be able to keep at bay with heatseekers and most probably won't get help from anyone else.

Too bad the same trick doesn't work with the LGM's in jets. /I'm a jet whore, but tiring of it.

Lol, who was this?

I remember the entire competitive landscape changed in '42 when we were required to play with that janky anti-cheat add-on in CAL. We had to form up at the center of the map for screenshots before we could even ready up for a round. I suspected a lot of guys running the subtle stuff were in trouble when that came out.

yeah i remember the line ups ect.

but a line up for screen shots imo always seemed like a waste of time when someone likely could easily just have some sort of toggle to turn them off visual stuff for a screen shot then turn them back on when they were about to start heh,

patch notes,

March 6 PC Game Update Notes
-Several crash fixes and stability improvements
-Fixed an issue with data re-sending that was causing rubber banding on some servers
-Increased the maximum rank to 120
-Fixed an issue with the kill camera triggering before game client would display the last portion of damage being dealt, giving players the impression that they died too early
-Fixed issue with blood effects, damage indicators, and health bar updates in the HUD being out of sync. This issue meant that players would sometimes miss information about being shot at, or get the impression of too few hits occurring for the amount of bullets that hit.
-Tweaked the speed, dispersion, and re-arm duration of the IFV and MBT projectiles
-Tweaked timing for how long the kill feed stays on screen
-Fixed an issue where the message "Joining Server" sometimes didn't appear when the user tried to join the server
-Added default player slots to server browser filters
-Fix for an issue on Silk Road where players could deform the terrain to create a big, water-filled hole
-Fix for a bug that occurred with the end-of-round camera if the player was in the bomber in China Rising
-Fix for an issue on Rogue Transmission where it was impossible to capture a flag while riding the quad bike
-Prevented players from interacting with an M-COM on Siege of Shanghai after it had been destroyed
-Fixed an issue where audio for disarming M-COMs could get stuck in an infinite loop
-Added minimap details for missing carriers in Rush on Paracel Storm and Hainan Resort
-Fix for an exploit that would allow players to shoot two tank shells with not enough delay between shots
-Removed a bug where squads would get split up when transitioning between Conquest and Air Superiority
-Fixed an issue where Defuse could get stuck in an unplayable state between rounds
-Removed a bug that would cause players to sometimes get stuck in the killcam after having been killed
-Fixed an issue with revive icon not being grayed out in-game on map and minimap, when the player died after getting revived in Defuse
-General improvements and bug fixes for the Battledash and Mission create screens
-Fixed a bug where red laser dots would get stuck on textures
-Zoom dispersion fix. When zooming in while firing the dispersion did not lower to the new max value
-Fixed a bug where the enemy health always displayed as full in the kill-cam
-Fixed an issue in Defuse so killed bomb carrier can’t plant a bomb in the next round without picking up a new bomb
-The MAV has been updated to prevent players from exploiting it
-Improved repair rates for vehicles with different base healths
-Tweaked volume balance and other ambiance parameters on the majority of base game and China Rising maps
-Improved the track vehicles wheel friction so vehicles don’t get stuck at relatively minor hills
-Fixed an issue with faulty zoom levels that occurred when using click to zoom in. While sprinting and zooming, will mess up the zoom levels, from hip to zoom.
-Improved boat physics and handling, including implementation of a system that lets players push stuck boats back in the water

SPECTATOR MODE
-Added a chat feature, allowing spectators to take part of the chat of the match they’re spectating
-Fix for the EMP/Proxy Attack effects being visible in Spectator Mode
-Removed the black screen that was visible when switching between cameras and players in Spectator Mode
-Removed squad colors in Spectator Mode, now only the red and blue team colors are visible
-Decreased the user interface clutter in Spectator Mode by removing health pack, ammo pack and revive icons
-Tweaked the 1st person view in Spectator Mode so that spectators now see exactly what players see and nothing else
-Added a functionality in Spectator Mode so that, when going into Freecam from 1st or 3rd person mode, the first static freecam will be moved to behind the previously spectated player
-Added the possibility in Spectator Mode to ‘fire’ at a player from Freecam to go into 1st person view of that player
-Spectators can now see which player on the scoreboard that carries the bomb in the Obliteration and Defuse game modes

NOTE: For in-depth details on all the balancing tweaks below, head to our "Balancing BF4" articles [blogs.battlefield.com].

GRENADE TWEAKS
-Increased the number of M84 FLASHBANG and HAND FLARES the player can carry from 2 to 3.
-Increased the effect of M84 FLASHBANG grenades on friendly and enemy players.
-Increased the maximum damage for the RGO from 67 to 80, however reduced the range of explosion.
-Reduced the visual and audio effect for the detonation of the V40 Mini to highlight its smaller blast when compared to other grenades. Decreased the maximum damage from 80 to 60, and decreased the range at which maximum damage is applied.

PISTOL TWEAKS
-Increased the aimed accuracy of the M1911 to make it a viable choice once the COMPACT 45 has been unlocked.
-Increased the close range damage of the M1911, QSZ-92, FN57, CZ-75 and COMPACT 45.
-Reduced the delay between pressing the trigger and the bullet firing for the M412 REX and .44 MAGNUM.
-Increased the magazine capacity of the QSZ-92 to 20 rounds. Additionally reduced the recoil of the QSZ-92 to give it a clear difference from the FN57.
-Corrected a small error with the COMPACT 45 accuracy when crouched or prone.

WEAPON TWEAKS
-Increased the accuracy of pump action shotguns (870 MCS, HAWK 12g, SPAS-12, and UTS 15) while on the move and aiming.
-Reduced the long range damage of the MTAR to bring it in line with the rest of the Carbines.
-Adjusted the way inaccuracy is handled when transitioning from Hip fire to Aimed fire.
-The Heavy Barrel’s Accuracy bonus now also applies on the move, at a reduced bonus. This should give the Heavy Barrel a wider role for players who desire accuracy while aimed in all situations.
-Synchronized the timing of the aim down the sights animation of sniper rifles with their ability to fire with full accuracy. Players no longer need to wait for additional time after the aiming animation plays to get accurate shots. There is still a delay to achieve full accuracy, so Quick Scoping is still not possible.
-The SRS bolt action time has been tweaked and the rate of fire has been lowered
-The GOL bolt action time has been tweaked
-The muzzle velocity for the MP7 has been reduced
-The MTAR21 muzzle velocity has been reduced
-Updated the handling of the 1x scopes for Type95B1, A91, SteyrAug, SAR21, QBZ951, FAMAS, UTAS, MTAR, L85A2, and F2000
-Updated rate of fire for the RGP7 and NLAW

VEHICLE TWEAKS
-Reduced the total amount of missiles carried by the Mobile Anti-Aircraft vehicles from 6 to 4.
-Reduced the velocity of the MAA’s default 20MM CANNON from 1200m/s to 800m/s to match the 30MM CANNON.
-Reduced the physical impact of all Anti-Aircraft missiles to prevent helicopters from flipping uncontrollably when hit. The damage values have not been changed.
-Reduced the cone in which ACTIVE RADAR missiles search for targets, making them require a higher level of skill in predicting where a target will be when the missile is fired.
-Increased the direct damage done by the Attack Helicopter’s gunner cannon. The gunner will be better able to assist the pilot in taking down vehicle targets with this change.
-Increased the direct hit damage of the Zuni Rockets for Attack Helicopters. The rate of fire of these rockets combined with their smaller magazine pool made them a poor choice over the other two rocket types.
-Reduced the splash damage and maximum splash damage range of the Scout Helicopter 25MM CANNONS.
-Reduced the “intelligence” of the MBT LAW missiles, requiring the player to aim the missile closer to their target before the smart projectile will activate. Additionally, the MBT LAW now reloads slightly slower. Finally, a bug where the MBT LAW would pass through an ACTIVE PROTECTION shield has been fixed.
-Fixed an issue where ACTIVE PROTECTION and the MP-APS did not properly stop 12G FRAG rounds.
-Reduced the range where the M2 SLAM will do maximum damage to vehicles from 6M to 3M. The range was deemed to be too large, making the M2 SLAM far superior to the M15 AT MINE.
-Reduced the damage the STAFF shell does to all targets by 25%. This should balance the ease of use of the STAFF shell with its damage potential.

I had a friend that used to hack in early CS and the overlays and hack enables were all key-bound.

DICE has rocks in their fucking head.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA14Mo1aN7A

With all the MAA bullshit, they add this shit.

Stupid mother fuckers, fuck them and their aimbot lockons slowly removing any element of skill. They are seriously breaking the balls of AH pilots.

Edit: Bring on summer and outdoor activities already, I don't need the aggravation that is BF4.
