Earlier today, Far Cry was working fine.
THen now when I start it up, the menu and all looks fine, but in-game, there are pretty much no textures and only flat ugly polygons. WTF happened??!?!
With all this arguing I'm still confused! :D
I won't be running my BH-5 at DDR500 speeds because P4P800 maxes vdimm at 2.85v only, plus I want my warranty, so no vmodding.
The offer I have now is, I'll trade my 2x256 BH-5 DDR400 and US$25 for 2x512 Adata Vitesta DDR500.
Assuming I'm not going to vdimm mod the P4P800 since I wanna keep my warranty intact :D
I read alot of comparisons between high bandwidth and low latency. TomsHardware says high bandwidth is better, AnandTech and PCStats seem to go for low latencies.
I'm currently on a 2.4C w/ a P4P800 and the stuff in my sig.
I'm now running 2x256MB PC3200 HyperX with BH-5 modules.
OK assuming I am doing 260MHz FSB, my HyperX will be running at 5:4 meaning about DDR410 at 2-2-2-5. Can't do 1:1 because vdimm on P4P800 maxes at 2.85, so I can't push the...
Oh OK. I found a sale for Adata Vitestas, 2 x 512MB PC4000 for about US$185. So I was considering switching my 2 x 256MB BH-5 for those.
Looks like I won't now. :D THanks for doing the test!
I'm using HyperX running at 2-2-2-5, DDR410 now.
I was thinking of switching to some Adata Vitesta DDR500 to run at 3-4-4-8, DDR512.
Does this little test here show that I won't really notice the difference from changing?
I've got some Kingston HyperX KHX3200/256 that I think is BH-5, but I need to confirm it. Is there any way to make sure short of removing the heatspreader?
If no, is removing the heatspreader dangerous?
Isopropyl alchohol works well enough. But for those really hard and tough goops, I use Goof-Off. Literally dissolves the stuff into a quick wipeable mess. :D Just try not to get any on your PCBs. :)
I've got a Powercolor 9800 Pro 128MB and I'm wondering exactly how many volts it needs as per its specification. Ever since I got my P4P800 mobo, there's a setting there called "AGP VDDQ Voltage" that's been set to 1.50V. The available options are 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8.
Anyway, I kinda...
The fact that you can run fine at 2-2-2-11 at 400MHz already shows that you have either BH-5 or BH-6 chips since no other chip can do those kind of timings.
That and the fact that IIRC, if your Corsair PC3200/3500 is a Rev. 1.1, it's definitely a BH-5 chip.
My dad's PC uses a pretty small sized case that has one vertically aligned 5.25" slot.
The CD Burner is in that slot and in my experience, it's pretty much nothing to worry about. It'll load and unload properly and its just as easy to pop a CD onto the tray.
Definitely worth it.
I just switched from a MSI Ti4200 128MB to a Powercolor 9800Pro 128MB last month, the difference is well worth your cash. :D
Now I can play at high res at high quality settings with no lag! (Far Cry might be an exception :P)
Here's mine. :D
Unfortunately, mines squeezed between a wall and my bed, so I can't really fit much of the additional stuff on the sides. Maybe I'll get an extension shelf though.
Well, most of Coolermaster's stuff is high quality, so it's always interesting to see what they come up with.
The Aquagate is really one of the sweetest looking WC kits I've seen yet, the Cavalier ain't too bad either. :D
I've got a 1760V and nary a complaint about it. :D
I din get the 1760NX because my I didn't think it was worth the extra cash, about US$80 in my case.
Anyway, I'm sure you'll be completely satisfied with the 1760V/NX. Zero ghosting as far as I can see and it's a really good monitor.
Hrm, specs in my sig.
Video settings set for performance in the Cat 4.3. CPU is OC-ed as in sig, but 9800P is left at stock settings.
Score is about 45K
If you can run 2-2-2-X timings and ur HyperX part number is KHX3200 without an "A", then you probably have BH-5 chips.
3v wont fry it, I don't think I've ever heard of people frying RAM even at up to 3.6v.
Just don't leave it 24/7 at high voltages.
If you do indeed have BH-5 chips, you...
I use a SB Live Value :( and I get the same prob when I enabled hardware sound.
I said to hell with it and went back to normal sound.
You could try enabling the compatiblity mode tho.
I tried the Starstorm performance drivers way back when I was on a Ti4200.
Boosted 3dmark2001 score by about 1500 points, but the quality was very obviously toned down to the level of crap.
I've got a crappy set of Creative Insprire 4.1, and recently got a very nice pair of Philips HP890 headphones.
Unfortunately, I'm still on a SB Live Value. :(
I'm thinking of the Audigy 2 ZS cause budget is tight, so the OEM version is a good deal to me.
The speakers are OK enough for me...
VGA Silencer doesn't fit with the Tweakmonsters?
I've seen a review or two where he had lots of clearance for the Tweakmonsters under the VGA Silencer. Anyway, I clearly remember one review saying that the clearance for RAMsinks under the VGA Silencer is 17mm. So if your RAMsinks are shorter...
Yeah the HP890s are kickass. :D The price was kickass too, RM160 which is US$40. Got it through a member of a local forum that organized a bulk buy direct from the distro. :D
Isn't it great when the first thought when you wake up is to mod! :D
The paint does look coarse in the second pic, I hope it is as smooth as you say. But nice mod! I like the window and bloo light.
I get it once in a while, maybe once a day or less.
It is bloody irritating, screen freezes for 1 or 2 seconds and when its back to normal, ur dead.
It seems to have stopped happening for the most part tho. :D
Upgrading system RAM usually only speeds up loading times, does it affect the FPS in Far Cry as well?
Some locations are OK for me to get about 60-100 fps, but in some of the outdoor levels, I drop to 25-35 fps! ANd this is only at 1024x768 with about 5 million polys.
Is it just me or is...
My specs are as in my sig, I'm having all the settings at max, but texture detail at medium running at 1024x768 with no AA/AF.
I wanna play at 1280x1024, but it kinda lags at that res.
Why?? :(
