Computer Gear
LIAN LI case. I don't have model number, but it's older. It's sliver with window. In it's day it was a very nice case. Would be great for modding.
Problems: USB door (in front) is broken. Front doesn't stay on correctly (had to tape). Motherboard tray slides out, but bent...

Warranty
I will replace or refund any item within 15 days of arrival for ANY REASON. Everything was purchased in Dec 2013 so should still be under warranty, but can not guarantee manufacturers warranty (Sapphire's warranty for example is non-transferable) but will try...
Selling a R9 280x. I had a mining card go bad and they sent me this as a replacement, effectively new, but open box. Was bough in Dec 2013 and has 2 year warranty. (edit, see thread below, I don't think warranty is transferable :() Does NOT include any games or coupon codes. Has all other...
I have an older computer here without any onboard video. I'm looking for a low powered video card, something cheap. No gaming, just web browsing. Has PCI or PCI-E
In the $100 or $150 range, what is the best card I could get (via newegg) to plain [primarily] skyrim?
Are the GTX 550 ti's any good?
current card is a 260 gtx that is going out.
I'm using a pico like PSU, but have a normal case. It doesn't have a normal power supply so there is a gaping hole were one should go. Is there such a thing as a 'blank' or 'shield' to put in there to block it up? If so, what is it called?
Bonus points if you have a FAN that fits perfectly...
If it matters, I have one of these motherboards. No power supply (uses laptop charger).
Required:
* 1 x 2.5 drive (ssd)
* 1 x 3.5 drive (hdd)
* NIC (optionally low profile if need be)
Optional:
Would like at least 1 case fan. It's passively cooled, but I feel more comfortable with at-least...

So I have a system that has a 40G SSD drive. We'd like to upgrade it to a 120G SSD. No other hardware or software is changing.
I was hoping to not have to reinstall. Is there a simple way to do this, like Norton Ghost or such? Is there a free alternative?
I'm looking for an ultra cheap netbook or laptop.
The only requirements are:
* x86
* Ethernet (even 10 mbps is ok)
* SATA (need to put in SSD)
* Battery and external power cord
* Reputable dealer (no ebay, etc)
Screen doesn't need to be working, but would be nice.

Anyone know of a low power router that can run linux? Basically I want to give up my huge power hungry server for a low watt reliable linux router.
to be clear, I want to run a "full" linux disto.
I'm thinking of using a i5 laptop CPU (with this motherboard) for a low power [usage] server.
I would need another NIC since it's a gateway which would eat up the PCI-E slot. 5 sata ports should be fine.
It should be quite a bit of power (2 cores x 2 HT) for a mere 35W TDP.
Any downside...
I used to use both ntune and RivaTune with my 260GTX. I got out of gaming for awhile, updated to newest drivers and seems like neither of this are supported any longer. Lastest build I can find of ntune is from 2007 and lastest for RivaTuner is 2009. My friend says I can overclock in Nvidia...
Both of these look pretty badass for a lowwattage home server. Any chance consumers can get them? The rumor is they are going to be OEM only:

I have a computer here with 4 gigs of ram (in 1 gig sticks, all same brand/part/model) that keeps blue screening. If I take the last 2 sticks of memory out it doesn't happen. So, memory problem right?
It crashes pretty regularly, 5+ times a day. With those last 2 sticks out it didn't crash...
By default for some reason Windows 7 does this weird recursive syslinks on the Application Data directory?
why?
What's the difference between AppData and Application Data?
Also how can you back it up using standard tools? Most tools think it's a real directory so go 10+ levels deep.
It...
What's the deal with OCZ SSDs drives? Tons of bad reviews on newegg and interwebs saying they go bad fast. Not that it's significant, but everyone I know with an OCZ drive have seen them fail within 12 months. My lasted 15. Never meet anyone with an Intel or Crucial SSD that has failed on...
My friends computer is acting really weird. He has an SSD in it (which is a few years old). He does a lot of heavy disk i/o. How can I verify if the ssd is going bad or not? Windows disk check came up clean and did HD Tune.
I have my main Windows OS drive on an SSD.
I'm adding a second HDD for Games and data (Movies and Music). Would I get any performance increase if I changed the "Allocation Unit Size" [during format] to a higher value than default? It'll be NTFS.
Most of the files on this drive will be...
I have a ton of drivers being loaded on startup: http://i.imgur.com/GJg4e.png
I don't have a lot of this hardware (use a realtek, not creative sound card). Is there any way to see what is being used or has hardware attached?
Would deleting these save any memory or make for a faster startup?
Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit
I play a lot of games (from Steam mostly) and think all these run times are being installed by those.

Both the WD and Segate green drives have newegg comments that they shouldn't or not meant to be used for RAID. Why? I wanted to put 3x2 TB in a ZFS raidz, is that ok or some how wear these drives out fast?
Welcome to the cutting edge of technology (from the the grand year of 1998). The glory days when things were slow, big and gave off a lot of heat.
If your looking for anything specific, but unsure if it's in this mess; just ask! If it's 5 years or older, I probably have it!

I've never modded before; but familiar with computers in general.
Few questions. I have a sliver aluminum case (Lian-li PC-37A to be exact: http://www.firingsquad.com/hw/2103/Lian_Li_PC-37/). It's sliver and wish it to be black.
Would simple spray paint work or would it look like shit...
Looking for KVM.
Main machine is Win7 with DVI; PS/2 Keyboard, USB mouse.
Second machine is FreeBSD with dsub, PS/2 Mouse/keyboard. - could probably use USB mouse for this.

Try decide here between an Atom D510 (or D525 if it comes out) and i5-650 Core.
Let's assume same PSU and SSD. Both systems with have 4 gigs of ram (2x2 gig sticks).
Our main concern here will be power usage while idle.
The setup:
Atom
CPU/Board: Super Micro X7SPA-HF
i5 Core
CPU...
I'm building a system and gotten pretty reliable information on power usage of all other components, expect can't find it for this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182173
Realistically how much wattage/draw can I except at idle and full load?
No add on...
Trying to figure out what how many watts a L5630 would use when idle. I can't find any good reviews on this. Say I have a single L5630 with a pretty typical mother board, 1 stick of 1.3 v ram and no hard drives; how much power usage should I expect when system is completely idle?
Just...
Stupid question, would an i5 work in a board like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182211
It's socket 1156.
If not, any good Super Micro that could be suggested with an i5?
I'm looking for something with ECC and Dual Intel nics and IPMI
Or, what Xeon would be the...
I'm building a mini PC for my gf, it has a slot; but it's low form factor (my card is twice tall as the case). Is there any low profile cards that give decent performance for gaming? The cpu/memory is good (3.2 core2duo, 4 gigs, etc). Doesn't have to be great, just something that could play...
