So I've enabled XMP in BIOS and immediately clock speed and 4 or 5 voltage settings were updated, 5600Mhz @ 1.25v.
Fingers crossed that takes care of that.
Like I said I don't over clock or anything so this is new to me. I do have follow up questions.
Checking the Corsair web site the mem kit I have list the SPD Voltage at 1.1v and the Tested Voltage at 1.25v. However when I look at re-sellers the memory is listed as 1.25V which I would...
Yes they are definitely in slots A2 and B2. For my original post I just cut and pasted system info text from "PerformanceTest", weird.
Estimated wattage for the build was 465W, I'm running a Corsair RM850x PSU.
The motherboard supports 4800 to 7200Mhz, so it is surprising mem is clocking down...
I do have auto restart set to off. But it keeps rebooting, that is what makes me wonder if it is OS triggered.
For a memory issue should there be some indicator, memory dump, parity error? I don't over clock or anything like that, so what would be a bit more voltage?
Let me know if there is a better sub-forum to post this type of issue/question.
I have a 6 month old build that randomly re-boots all the time. I get no warning, no blue screen, nothing.
I have power on set to off on AC loss. I have restart set to off, Win Update set to off.
Most common...
Yes ironically my AP is an AC66U running in AP mode.
The 66U is fine as an AP. What would you use for a router/firewall. I'm thinking something better suited more upto date for managing my network.
My thought was to purchase my own cable modem instead of the monthly rental from Xfinity/Comcast. I'm looking for reasonable ROI. I don't need wifi built in as I already have an AP I can use. However eliminating wi-fi from the modem/router doesn't seem to really save much, supply and demand...
Fixed!
Issue was with the BitDefender Firewall (Total Security 2015 build 19.xxx.xx.xx) on the source/outgoing Win10 PC of all things.
Updated to BD 2016 and network transfers are smoking fast again.:ROFLMAO:
I consistently get a 0x8007003B error trying to copy pictures from my Win10 machine to any of the two Win7 machines on my home network. Files sizes range 1.5 to ~13MB *.jpg. I checked the target machine during the copy and the CPU was pegged at 100%
I don't have this problem copying between...
One question, If I got an 8 Port FW and 8 port switch why not put the primary PCs on the FW and the network printer and other low bandwidth devices on the switch? Won't the switch channel all traffic through a single FW port?
Port 1, so I guess I'm bypassing the firewall?
I remember now, quite a while ago I tried put the modem in bridge mode, had issues. I guess I forgot to go back and fix it :(
Yes the FVS318. I have 100Mps service that tests at 90/20 dwn/up from behind my FVS318 firewall. Are these tests just testing to the router. I tried 4 different test with the same result.
I have no specific need for VPN, it just cane with the switch. Most devices on the LAN are gigabit...
My current router/firewall/switch is 10/100. If I put all LAN devices on a gigabit switch is the 10/100 firewall adequate for internet traffic.
The two options I'm looking at cost about the same.
1) old 10/100 8 Port Firewall >> new 16 port gigabit switch
2) new gigabit 8 Port firewall...
I should have phrased the question better.
The firewall on my cable modem is very simple (3 settings) compared to the level of control my VPN/firewall switch has.
What I really want to know is the firewall on the service provider's modem adequate for a home network or should I get a...
At present my home network is on a 10/100 ProSafe VPN Firewall switch that sits behind a cable modem. A while back I added a 5 port gigabit switch for the media PCs.
I want to add more ports and clean up the distribution panel by consolidating to a single 10/100/1000 switch. I don't need...
Thanks, I tried the driver still no luck.
I do have it working now. I had to change the BIOS setting to S1 suspend. Originally is was S3 and worked WinXP? At least it is working now.
The MAC address was correct. The board is a GigaByte GA-880GA-UD3H rev2.0; using the onboard NIC
RealTek PCIe GBE Family Controller driver v7.88.617.2014
Yes. The 3 PC are all on the same gigabit switch (un-managed) belonging to the same network/Homegroup. The target PC does not have a specifically labeled BIOS setting WOL, rather a PMI event wake and a couple others similar settings. Under WinXP this PC worked flawlessly.
The WOL Win7 issue seems well documented. I just can't find a solution.
I've checked all settings; BIOS; NIC; OS; tried all the common solutions posted on various sites; magic packets, etc without luck. I've tried a couple third party utilities that broadcast the magic packet without...
It's acting as a switch and does not show up anymore.
The new modem is assigning addresses 10.0.0.x and the router/switch address is 192.168.0.1.
Interesting thing is when the Server PC (raid-1) is in a low power state (S3) the media server/computer labeled BRCM-LVG is not visible on the...
I can't log into the router remotely anymore. A couple months ago I disabled the DHCP function on the Netgear router to function as a switch. It sits behind a Technicolor modem from my service provider. So I'll have to plug in directly and check for file sharing.
I contemplated that or Win8 Storage Spaces. I was concerned my Athlon II 240e wouldn't be up to the task. I'm trying to keep cost down by re-purposing existing equipment.
Google is is more generous to you than me.
Still not finding a lot of detail. I have Netgear but I haven't touched the router/switch in months. Not sure why now it shows up.
Recently a new device is appearing on my home network. I'm running three Win7-64 computers. I don't know what it is or where it came from.
It properties are;
Computer Name: BRCM-LVG
Computer Type: Windows NT4.9 Server
WorkGroup: Workgroup
Should I be concerned?
I'm presently up and running with my Raid-1 setup. I still have some concerns though.
I feel my struggles have to do with the GigaByte board and implementation of AMD's SB850 controller.
No matter what I tried I could not get the OS (Win7-64) to see the raid drives even though Device...
Yea! found out the hard way. :(
However I'm presently up and running with my Raid-1 setup. :) I still have some concerns though.
I placed this post in the motherboard forum because I feel my struggles have to do with the GigaByte board and implementation of AMD's SB850 controller...
One last question;
Are raid controllers like memory; it dumbs down to the slowest speed modules; or drives in this case?
If I setup for Raid-1 on the Sata3 (6Gb/s) controller and plug in a Sata2 drive same controller but non-raid configured port does the Raid-1 run at 6 or 3 Gb/s?
Yes it is the SB850 controller. I'm going Raid-1 2x3TB, The OS (Win7 64bit) will reside on a 500MB drive. I just hope I can run the OS off one of the non raid Sata-3 ports.
Unfortunately the PC already exists so I'll stick with the AMD/GigaByte combo for the near future.
I have shelved so many working PCs over the years. I'd hate this to be another one. So if I can upgrade one more time and get 2-5 more years out of it I'd be good with that.
Yes that is correct, sorry I should have clarified. My intentions is more for a centralized storage PC; not a true home server. Someplace to secure my growing collection of family videos and digital photos. That plus an offsite backup.
The machine will probably spend most of its time in...
Can Raid-1 support 4 and 6 disks? That is what I take away from this article.
http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2011/10/raid10-vs-raid01/
On a single drive failure does Raid-10 recover as easy as Raid-1?
That's my aim, protect against single drive failure with relative ease of recovery. Hopefully the AV and additional offsite backup I can minimize the virus risk.
If I install 4 drives in a Raid-1 array am I able to pool/span/concatenate the drives for one large Raid-1 volume or do I get two...
I have the Xfinity X1 Router HOW5220_TC_8717 acting as a gateway.
Prior to its install my router and switch ran addressing 192.168.0.xx Now the expected addressing is in the form of 10.0.0.xx.
On my old router (NetGear FVS318) I had to turn off DCHP to function as a switch. Now I...
Never set one up so I have a lot of newbie questions.
What is the easiest configuration to recover from a drive failure running Win7 or Win10? Is it Raid-1 because each drive is a copy/mirror or is it 5, 6, 10 etc.?
I have a GigaByte GA-880GA-UD3H Rev2.0 board with AMD Athlon II x2 240e...
I have the Z97-A board with a nVidia GT720-2GD3-CSM (PCI Express 2.0) graphic card.
This is an office build so no OC; tweaking or anything like that going on.
Is there a preferred slot for a single graphics card on this board?
