yes, it's a real cpu, just a bit higher stock clocks than the Q7600. and there is another Core 2 extreme with Xx7700 in the name iirc.

as a 980ti owner, if the price is close, withn $70, go for the 1070. performance will only get better with updates, it has newer features set and is far more efficient.

I've seen this issue on a few cards. it seems to be a hardware issue on the gpu.

my first dedicated gpu was an ATI. I bought a Radeon 9250 for 4130. terrible value iirc.
