I've used Provantage for some OEM-type parts. Seems like they, CDW, Insight, and a handful of other retailers all use the same 3-4 distributors for shipping. You'll notice they often list the same number of items in stock. (though sometimes delayed by a day, the systems aren't really built for...
Looking for a new unit for work with the capability to run dual cards in the future. Don't want a huge box with 6 hard drive slots I will never use.
Alienware Aurora seems to get good reviews, 850W PSU and I can order it with an 8th Gen i7.
Is there anything comparable I am overlooking? Custom...

Need something large for a conference room setting. Most critical is that it needs to function well as a monitor in terms of no mouse lag. Color quality is secondary. I know there are threads on here about digging through settings to reduce lag - I've tried numerous TVs, and generally even after...
To follow up on this in case it helps anyone else....
I read elsewhere that the 760 (or at least some of them) require UEFI to boot. So that explains the no-boot w/legacy BIOS machines.
Flashed it with a 670 ROM. This allowed it to at least boot on a legacy BIOS, but the other ports still did...
So I bought this card on Craigslist... (always a good start to a story.)
Listing was a bit unclear, said 760 in one spot, 760Ti in another. Card is completely unbranded, black 760-style reference shroud. Since the 760Ti is pretty rare and apparently OEM-only, I figured it was most likely just a...
yeah this was with the 1511 build.
The MS rep I talked to said I had to do the upgrade process first and only then could I do the clean install... I asked how that was any different from the "old" process.... I don't recall exactly how he explained it (or if he was even aware that there was...
So as I understood it, as of last fall, Windows 10 was supposed to accept Win 7/8 keys for clean installs.
I was upgrading a family member's laptop - put in a new SSD, did a new install with win10 USB media, but activation wouldn't validate the OEM 7 key. Called Microsoft, they said I had to...
Apologies for the shameless cross-post, but this thread gets all the FW900 traffic...
I'm selling and shipping two of them here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1880397
I would love to sell them locally (MN) for less; as it is the price is mostly a result of the shipping cost and giant...
Fedex ground takes up to 150lbs; I screw together a wood frame for support and box them up, ends up somewhere ~100+lbs (only one per box of course.) :P
...Fedex driver may not be happy but no loading dock required. :)

2X Sony GDM-FW900 24" Widescreen CRT Monitor
Need to get these out of my life.... By the looks of them they have been around the block more than once. They work fine currently with no odd...
The FW900 will briefly flash the resolution and refresh rate in an on-screen display when you change resolutions. Don't know if the Mitsubishi does the same thing, but maybe that is what he's talking about?
Did you somehow get an older model? The original EQ276W was glossy, then they changed to a matte screen but kept the same model number. But afaik the newer EQ276WN should be glossy. Is there any other difference in the matte one (bezel, stand, casing...?)
If you get a Z-series monitor you get the business support regardless of how you purchase it. Z27i is pretty spendy compared some other options; you might be able to find a refurb zr2740w for ~$300. (though refurb will only carry a 1 year warranty.)
HP consumer support had no clue how to deal...
That would be the single camera model. Lens would be visible in the pic showing the back side peeking out. Also "Originally released June 2013" would be old, June 2014 would be the new one. Apparently no refurb stock on that yet.
Why not avoid the problem and get displays with DP built -in? I guess I understand if you are going for the least possible lag, but do the adapters introduce lag anyway?
It's an odd panel so there doesn't seem to be much info, I haven't seen another manufacturer using it.
Microcenter is great with returns, as long as they are local to you I would just buy one and try it out. Then you can let -us- all know how it is. :)
Agreed the terms are often used interchangeably when they shouldn't be, but afaik the only 10-bit panels available also happen to be wide gamut. If you use a 10-bit panel in sRGB mode or have it calibrated down to sRGB then it isn't using the full range of color and is thus something less than...

No personal experience, but with 92 5-star reviews I'd have to assume it pushes 2560×1440 at 60Hz.
fwiw, I have two 27"s on DP, if I switch off the secondary monitor, none of my windows are moved or jammed around...
No, integrated Intel doesn't support 2560x1440 over DVI; it will over DisplayPort. You can look for a motherboard with DP or miniDP (but then you'd also want a monitor with DP, which tacks a bit onto the price.) Or get a cheap video card for dual-link DVI.
I can't even speculate; should be other threads on it. I bought my 27"s awhile ago and haven't been following what is current. Though personally I would look for DisplayPort inputs to keep your connectivity options open.
My main work setup is actually a 27" in the center and an old Dell 20"...
Assuming you go with 3, you'd be looking at 1920x1080, so probably a 21-22" panel? Problem is all the IPS screens in that size are 6bit+FRC, not 8 bit, so the colors are lacking compared to ACD and most other 27" panels. Maybe you could get 3x24" at 1920x1200, but decent ones in that size cost a...
Yes, you will see colors that your sRGB monitor cannot reproduce, but unless you are viewing them in Photoshop and have your color management setup properly, those colors are likely wrong.
For example your computer sends a signal to the monitor that says "display 100% red." Your computer by...
Given that you already have a U2711 you are either used to the wide gamut or it doesn't bother you.
(I'm sure sRGB mode is fine too for most purposes.)
For the price, yeah sure, why not. Sounds like a good deal if it still has most of the 3yr warranty. Though I'm not sure that it is going to...
I guess to be specific I've always used miniDP -> DP cables, not full size on both ends (Maybe that makes a difference?) But the cheapies have worked for me with miniDP on Radeon 5770, 5870, and 6870 cards.
I sure wouldn't count on running the HP from any kind of HDMI, given that it has no internal scaler it is especially picky.
I tried to get mine to work with an active HDMI -> DP adapter but never had much luck.
There are laptops with mini DisplayPort, all you need is a cheap miniDP -> DP...
Don't know if it helps you in CA but I've always bought whatever Monoprice sells. Had one go bad out of a half-dozen but they are dirt cheap, so... I doubt they are "certified" but they have worked for me on various HP/Dell/NEC/Viewsonic and Auria 27" displays.
You cant really compare panels in different sizes, they all come from different suppliers and can have vastly different specs. That 22" has 6bit+FRC color, while the 30" is a 10bit wide gamut panel. In my experience the 22/23" IPS panels out there really aren't that great compared to the 27"...
