I ordered my pc parts... most stuff here but motherboard delayed until next week... i7-12700K ..etc do I need anti bending plate thing?

I recently ran across those aftermarket retention plates - recently put together a 12600K build. I had over heating issues due to heatsink contact as well. I know it was mainly caused by the poor pressure my Cooler Master AIO delivered. However I also read the heat-spreader flexing was an issue...

Thanks guys. Will stick with the 2600x unless prices change drastically once we get to the point of purchase.

    9600k vs. 2600x upgrade question

So which one overclocks better/easier? Runs cooler? I have a buddy that's planning on doing one last retirement new tech build. And I've got him narrowed down between a Ryzen 5 2600x or an Intel 9600k. Not sure on the board for either yet, but not skimping in an effort to offer decent...

The morals of selling used GPUs

Please come back and post their reply when you use that statement on them. To me... It's the simple principle of supply and demand. Demand is high, supply is low, so of course prices are inflated.

I guess it's time to upgrade to Ryzen. You'll see a massive improvement in single threaded apps. ;)

    AMD Ryzen 1700X CPU Review @ [H]

I think they're more than okay.... Just Ryzen being compared to Intel makes it look worse than it is. Doesn't change my feeling of being let down by the gaming results because of the comparison, but yes I agree Ryzen will game just fine.

    AMD Ryzen 1700X CPU Review @ [H]

It's relevant enough. There's still a lot of people, enthusiasts included that game at 1080p. I just recently jumped up to 4k myself.

    AMD Ryzen 1700X CPU Review @ [H]

I'd agree not thinking it was going to be a beast for gaming as well... But the benches running a damned 2600k - which actually beat Ryzen quite a bit in gaming - I was legitimately surprised/let down by that. Just as much as I was surprised how well it ran in multi-threaded apps. I'd like to...

    AMD Ryzen 1700X CPU Review @ [H]

Maybe I did Dan. I read through your big comment and you make great points. (as always) Personally, 40% over Excavator doesn't "thrill" me. But it's multi-threaded performance does.

    AMD Ryzen 1700X CPU Review @ [H]

Sounds like it doesn't much matter but I am quite disappointed with Ryzen's single threaded performance. Good on AMD for running neck and neck - even winning some against Intel's $1k CPU. But damn... I really expected more of a pick up in IPC considering that's been the problem AMD has had.

    and...Intel is already dropping prices...

A month or two after Skylake was released (probably closer to a month) I made a build with said tech for my mother. I thought I used pretty good hardware, a 6600k i5, $170 MSI mobo and G.Skill Ram. None of these brands have I ever had a problem with. Shortly after building it my mother was...

    1055t to Skylake i3/i5?

The secondary PC in my signature is due for an upgrade, or at least I'm ready to upgrade it. I've thought about waiting for Zen to release but then I'm jumping into new architecture and I'm not sure I want to do that as I assume there will be some problems to work out. That literally leaves me...

    TitanFall 2 CPU rankings.

Not true - I loved what I was seeing with Haswell as far as efficiency and heat output was concerned. One of the bigger selling points for me getting it and I've not been disappointed at all. And the most strenuous task I do on my PC is gaming. I game all the time.

And the Core i3 4360 as well as the i5 2500k are also nearly as good as the 6700k. A couple frames off, no one would be able to tell a difference with those as well. So the game is GPU Limited it seems. I would expect a FX 9590 to achieve such at 1080p. Hell, a FX 4320 is right up there as...

    Gears of War 4 i7-6700K vs FX-8370

I started out using a good looking Zalman air cooler on my 930. Then I decided I wanted to try my hand at a custom water loop myself, not to mention the OC I had on the 930 was about all the Zalman wanted to do. I figured water cooling would be added protection. After doing the water cooling...

    Gears of War 4 i7-6700K vs FX-8370

I believe my 930 idled between 40 - 45c. Gaming it would hit 70c, probably a little hotter. Granted I had it overclocked pretty good to 4.0GHz, but I also had frequency stepping on so it wouldn't run at 4.0GHz when it wasn't being utilized. I actually Hard Forum members what they might have...

    Gears of War 4 i7-6700K vs FX-8370

Gotcha on the 4k gaming. For some reason I swear I saw something that showed Intel's higher IPC benefiting 4k. I also remember the CPU sales argument from the past as well, and don't deny it. But it's not like decreased sales isn't going to hurt AMD as well. AMD has me scratching my head a lot...

    Gears of War 4 i7-6700K vs FX-8370

Why would they, though? I really don't think Intel has given a shit considering the competition level AMD has been over the years, including before the FX series. And now that software is finally taking advantage of more than two to four cores the FX 8*** chips are looking better, and on the...

Intel i5 6400 Vs FX 8370 – Which Is The Better Gaming CPU?

The way I started looking at Intel was like this - Up until DX12, maybe Windows 10 or whatever other software has come out to increase or potentially increase AMD's performance Intel has had it made against AMD and their FX CPU's. So instead of making huge leaps forward and breaking barriers on...

    Doom (2016) CPU analysis.

I mentioned such indirectly when talking about my 4770K. One of the main reasons I upgraded from my 930 was in the hopes of much less heat production. That was exactly the case. Same reason for not continuing to use the 7970 card. Massive heat production.

Latest Zen rumors: Competitive with Skylake?

The read sounds quite promising to get AMD back into the mix at the top. I'm not overly impressed reading that Summit Ridge is only going to compete against Haswell-E and Broadwell-E products considering how long they've been out now. Hopefully it's just a modest statement and Zen will be better...

More than likely that's because his comments are in the AMD part of the forum. I don't find him off base with his comments just as I don't the pro-AMD people. I've never noticed any desktop stutter comparing my two machines (sig). Of course I actually like the aggressiveness my Haswell build...

I honestly don't see myself buying brand new on a number of items when it comes to PC's again - unless of course a great deal is found. My 4770K and 980 GTX are both used and I've had no issues with either. All I wanted was a 4.4GHz overclock on my 4770K and it got that easy and that's where I...

    Doom (2016) CPU analysis.

That statement is true when specifically comparing an AMD CPU against Intel's low offerings though, correct? Yeah, that eight core FX looks pretty good against an Intel dual core/dual thread CPU, especially on higher multi threaded applications. But what happens when say... a hexacore AMD is...

    Doom (2016) CPU analysis.

That Phenom II line was never mocked as far as I saw. The Phenom II performance combined with it's price point compared to the newly released i7's was not too bad. And there was also quite a while there that the Athlon II quad-core in particular was easily the best budget quad-core on the...

But again... I would hope an eight-core would be the better option as opposed to a dual-core. And you cannot just ignore or simply throw out an i3 user's ability to upgrade later if they want to. Because frankly those of us debating such in this thread would be apt to upgrade that i3 down the...

In their defense a lot of recommendations I see for going FX revolves around really good bundle deals typically at Microcenter. Someone did post a link to I believe 8320e deals there and for CPU+Mobo it was $149. To be honest that is about the only way I'd ever go with an FX right now.

I still have a problem with statements such as "The FX line can get the job done", or "It's good enough for the average user". That really doesn't say much IMO. It actually comes off to me as grasping at straws a bit. My bottom line with this thread in general is the OP posts a video showing...
