My GTX 580 hit the fan after 4.5 years :(
I need a replacement and I'm stuck between these two.
They're pretty much the same price.
Reviewing benchmarks it seems for general performance r9 390 is a tad faster than GTX 970?
Also how much faster is a r9 390/GTX 970 compared to a GTX 580...
Hi [H]
I've been using this ASUS P8P67 Pro with a Sandy Bridge 2600K for about 3 years now.
This board is actually one of those recalled P67 chipset boards that keeps randomly freezing due to bad SATA 2.0 ports or something.
On top of that now its randomly crashing with ever more frequency so...
I'm on onboard REALTEK and would like to output both analog(2.1 speakers) and digital(external DAC > headphones) simultaneously so I can switch between speakers and headphones without any hassle.
I had no problem doing this in my old windowsXP machne but I seem to can't find a solution for...
I want a secondary display but my deskspace is very limited, so less room it takes the better...
Idealy I would like a 16:9 tiltable one but not a 23-24inch size one, something smaller like 20inch so it doesnt take deskspace
Are there any good options?
There was a Samsung F2080 which is...
I'm just waiting on the 2600K and mobo which is undecided still.
Other then that I have everything waiting!
Heatsink: COrsair A50
GPU: GTX 580
SSD: Crucial c300 256GB
HDD: WD Cavier black 2TB
RAM: 8GB Gskill ripjaws
PSU: COrsair AX750

Hell I'm even renewing my KB...
1) Often I read 'you need xA of 12V rail amp for that video card' or something like that but what does this mean?
And how do I check if the PSU has that number of amps?
2) What does 80plus certified mean? And Bronze, SIlver, Gold followed by that?
backthen Intel was bombarding every possible price segment with their Dual core 775 model numbers ranging from E1200~E8600.
iirc they had a Pentium E6600 too...which felt weird as the original E6600 was legendary stuff
?
where is this 15-20% difference in gaming you're talking about.
The only one that that applies is SC2 and thats still above 60fps at a low res of 1680.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Yea I plan to use it pretty long term (in [H] standards, look at my sig) so I should just shell out the extra $100 for it. Extra 0.1 ghz and 2MB more cache can contribule to my e-peen.
So say theres 2 CPUs with same frequency, both dualcores but one has no HT and the other has HT.
If the game supported up to 4cores like BFBC2, would there be any performance difference between the two processors? and how little or big will the difference be?
The reason why i wonder is...
because I hate moving to the TV just to play a game. If its available for PC then most likely I'll choose the PC version over consoles.
I hate inserting/swapping disks all the time...ok thats a bit of a stretch but PC/Steam is so convinient for managing games, connecting with people...
I don't think that platform will be releaseing more than 4core CPUs if thats what you're looking into, then waiting for s2011 might be wiser, perhaps they'll offer non-extreme priced 6cores by then? But who knows.
I really doubt 8-core procs would be within that price range.
Wizardry 8.
Beat vanilla like 3 times and tried some user-made mods too.
Character development is really solid for multiple runs.
My multiplayer game crack is Valve FPSs.
ooh me too!
Upgrading from early adopted E6600.after 4+ years and I plan to use this 2600K for years.
This is gonna be the next 'E6600' 'Q6600' 'i7 920' CPU. You know?
Thead title should be "Popular games that I couldn't get into/don't understand the appeal"
my top 3
1. Starcraft. Its a good game no doubt, I played about 350+ 1v1s but kinda got bored.
I just don't understand why this has such appeal to a mass audience to the point where theres such...
After they announced the delay launch, I just went ahead and bought a GTX 580.
I was planning to get a 6900 but tired of waiting, and I want a new gaming machine NOW.
At least I know what I'm getting with a GTX 580.
Good luck next time AMD on launch schedules.
lol @ Kane and Lynch is $5 already.
Game came out in Augest and now its 10% price lmao.
I bought Defence Grid for $2.50 but so far nothing has interested me.
I think the good titles will come @ boxing ~ newyears time.
You're negating the benefits of an SSD if youre only using it for OS install and your games/apps are still all on HDDs. You want a fast responsive experience, then load your programs from an SSD. I'd say its worth it.
I really think 24GB is pointless and a waste of money if you're not going...
This should probably be moved to the General [H] forum.
I see a few pointers about that build:
-Stay away from using 3 mediocre videocards (460 768MB) as its not the most efficient in scaling and power draw.
I would replace that with 2x GTX 460 1GB as it can compete and even surpass a GTX 580...
