I have a 6950 2GB, 6GB of RAM, and an i7 920 (2.67GHz, currently). Will the 6950 do much better if I overclock the i7? If so, how much overclock is needed to make a difference (3GHz, 3.8, etc)?
Thanks guys.
I'm an undergrad systems engineering student, and I'm picking out a laptop or tablet for my capstone project. The computer will sit on top of a mobile robot that drives outside over a grassy field, an environment which affects the parameters of what I'm looking for. This robot has been worked...
I'm thinking about getting an iTouch for the apps, checking things online, etc. I have an ipod classic (160GB) for my music, but I wouldn't mind keeping some on the iTouch. Initially I was trying to choose between the 32GB and 64GB versions of the iTouch, but I'm wondering about other options...
When playing multiplayer in Bad Company 2, there are in-game English and Russian dialogues that are said at various points. An example of this is when a flag is captured or lost, or a team is winning and losing. Does anyone know where I can download these clips or where they might be located...
For the umpteenth time, my earbuds that I've used with my iPod have broken. Whether it's the wiring that breaks at the point right as it reaches the earbud or something else, I'm tired of it happening. This gives me the opportunity to seriously consider a different headphone to use with my...

This site legit?
I have the Beyerdynamic DT770's, an X-Fi Extreme Music soundcard, and a PA2V2 headphone amp. Will the quality of sound that comes out of my headphones improve with either a soundcard or headphone amp upgrade? If so, what would your suggestions be for $400 or less? Thanks!
I'm going home from school for Christmas Break in a week and a half, and since I'm flying I don't really want to bring my desktop home. However, I do want to bring my 3 hard drives home to use on one of our desktops. The desktop at home has one hard drive with Windows 7. The three hard drives...
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving... :)
I'm looking to upgrade my PC, and I'm not sure if I go for the graphics card or CPU first. At some point, what I don't get now I'll upgrade later... but I'll get into that below.
First, my system:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 4.2 GHz
RAM...
About a year ago I bought MS Office 2007 Ultimate through the Ultimate Steal deal for students. Well I upgraded to Windows 7 yesterday, after backing up my files. Since I knew the Vista back-up utility doesn't save applications, I *thought* I made sure the installation .exe was saved...
I picked this game up the other day; I've never played any of the GTA games before, but it got a lot of solid reviews. Initially I didn't really know what I was doing. For instance I'd help Roman out and then think that I had to just wait for him to call me again. I'd drive around thinking...
If a game or other app starts up at something other than my native res (1920x1200), then rainmeter shifts across my desktop and gets all jumbled up. When I exit said app or game, the desktop reverts to my normal res but rainmeter stays in the incorrect position. Is there anyway to fix this?
During May/June I spent 3.5 weeks in Alaska on a glacier/mountaineering expedition. Here are some pics I took with my humble Canon Powershot A620. The trip was an absolute blast. Enjoy!
Here's the full set of the pics I took; there's about 480 of...
I'm looking for suggestions for some "medium" sized headphones. My "full" sized headphones are Beyerdynamic DT770s; I've used them for the past 3 years and love them. As far as earbuds go, I have some Bose in-ear headphones (got for free) that I kinda like.
I've seen pictures of some Grados...
Does anyone have a clue when the ATI video converter will be available for 64-bit users? I've been waiting for a while but it STILL doesn't seem to be available yet to 64-bit users.
....and please correct me if I'm wrong. :p FYI, I'm using a 4870.
A friend of mine is selling his Samsung Syncmaster 906BW 19'' widescreen monitor for $90 bucks. It's used, but apart from a little dust it's still in great condition. I'd use this 2ms TN panel as a secondary screen, next to my 24'' S-PVA screen. Is this a good deal? Has anyone here used this...
I just downloaded Media Player Classic Home Cinema and am using ffdshow audio and video; it's my first time using any of those things. I've noticed that there are a LOT of settings...should I change any of them or just leave them at default settings?
I've just starting using VMware 6.5, and I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro (32 bit) as a new VM. I'm currently using Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
The installation of XP Pro in the VM goes like this: I get the blue screen saying "Windows Setup" at the top and the little gray bar at the bottom...
1) Will a background with a lot of white, light gray, or otherwise bright colors wear out the life of an LCD screen faster?
2) Is there a program compatible with Vista that will randomly changed the desktop wallpaper every X time interval?
For the last few months, I've been having trouble getting album art to go from my iTunes (where it shows up just fine) to my iPod Classic 6th Gen. Does it have anything to do with tags, like the "convert to ID3 tags" option? If so, which version of the ID3 tags is it (2.1-2.4)? I'm using the...
I downloaded this gadget for my sidebar, and I know it doesn't work right with Vista 64-bit. The work-around apparently is to tell Vista to start up with the 32-bit version of the Sidebar instead of the normal 64-bit version, but that doesn't seem to work for me. Anyone know what to do?
My older brother wants to buy a gaming headset. He's been eye-balling these:
http://www.razerzone.com/p-93-razer-barracuda-hp-1-51-channel-gaming-headphones.aspx
I told him that he should get a better set of headphones and a portable (separate) mic, but I haven't been hunting for headphones...
Since I live at college, all my dvd's from home are ripped onto my computer - I play with with PowerDVD 8. I just got a new 4870, and PowerDVD 8 uses video acceleration through the card. My question is for those who are using the latest Catalyst Drivers (I'm using 8.12) is, what settings do...
My mom wants to buy Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 software, and she found it for a "good price" (according to her, and she's been the one doing the shopping). The website is cheapsoftwares.info. The specific link to the software on the site is...
I have an Enermax Liberty 620W power supply, and I have no doubt that it will be able to hand the 4870 1GB card that I just got. The rest of my system is:
- Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
- 2 x 2GB 1066 RAM
- E8500
- Extreme Music X-Fi soundcard
- 4 x 120mm fans (3 case, 1 for the CPU)
- 80 GB HDD...
Am I right in thinking that the 4870 1GB is faster than two 8800 GTX Ultra's in SLI? I just haven't found any benchmarks online to directly compare them. If the 4870 *is* faster, how *much* faster is it?
Does PowerDVD 8 Deluxe use hardware video acceleration for ATI cards?
I currently have a 8800 GT in my computer at school with that program installed, and until video acceleration it says something about purevideo...but I don't I remember it saying anything about Avivo. I just got a 4870 for...
I'm looking to replace my Soyo 24'' LCD with an HDMI-compatible 24'' screen so I can run Blu-Ray. I really like the display quality (PVA) of the Soyo, so I'm somewhat hesitant to get a TN panel (since I heard the viewing angles and colors aren't as good). Are the newer TN panels much better...
I got some money this month from work, and I'm interested in buying parts for a blu-ray setup for my computer. I currently have a 24'' Soyo LCD screen right now, but since it doesnt have an HDMI port, I'll need to get a new LCD screen (preferably 24''). I'll also need to get a blu-ray player...
I'm a little confused about these two variations of the Beyerdynamic DT 770 headphones. I know that the DT770's come in the 80 and 250 ohm versions, but both of these are the 250's. The specs all look the same as well. The prices are pretty different; what is the real difference here besides...
I can't install it. The installation process makes me try and autopatch the game. The installation cannot be completed unless this works. The autopatch process just says that the file is corrupt and lets me either try again or cancel the whole installation. I headed over to the 2K forums and...
My family just ordered a Panasonic TV from Sears online and opted for in-store pickup. When we typed in our zip code, three stores popped up. two of them said we'd have to wait 9-11 days for availability, and one of them said that the TV was available now. Since we placed the order online...
Newegg seems to be dropping the price of the ATI 4870 1GB right now, marking almost all of their models. I'm wondering, how long will this sale be going for? Is it a "pre black friday" kind of thing? If it is, can I expect these prices to be low again around Christmas?
My brother is interested in getting a new monitor, and it's going to be $100 off on Black Friday
Thanks in advance for the info/help.
**EDIT** The title is supposed to be Samsung 2333HD. I got confused with the model in question here.
What folders are my saved games and profiles in for Call of Duty 4 and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance? It's more important that I get the profile for CoD4 so that I don't lose all my multiplayer stuff.
The PC that I'm using is connected to the internet via another computer with a cross-over cable. On the PC that actually receives the internet from the wall, I have a separate network card that is connected (by the cross-over cable) to the main PC that I use. I have to do this since my school...
Ok....I know that all chips (even of the same type) OC differently....
But if you have an E8600 E0 and an E8500 E0 both set to the same multiplier like 9.0x, then will they act the same? Basically, should I absolutely use the full 9.5x multiplier on my E8500 E0 if I want to get the largest...
I just built a new PC last night, and everything was working fine until about a few minutes ago when I restarted my PC after some Windows Updates. The hard drive started making a clicking sound, as if it was trying to access something over and over again. I put the hard drive into another PC...
I'm on the DoD network here at school (Annapolis), so I can only directly connect my issued computer (a Dell) up to the internet. I was told my someone outside of school (and confirmed it with some tech people here) that I could probably do this (see below) to get a separate desktop hooked up...
