Your observations, and the economic presence of ‘shucking’ in my opinion points to anti-competitive behavior in the bare HDD market by the main HD producers.
Remember the anticompetitive lawsuit brought against RAM manufacturers for price fixing years ago? I smell the same thing here.
Thanks...
Guys, I bought my current NAS drives almost exactly six years ago: WD Red WD30EFRX 3TB for $99 each. I was looking to upgrade today and the prices are about the same! 6 YEARS later! A 3TB RED NAS drive is about $80.
I remember the years of HD’s sizes for a certain cost about doubling every 18...
Guys some clarification is needed here. They are not talking about FLIR version as in far infrared. This would not be possible to be focused by our lenses in our eyes. What they are most likely talking about is near infrared like what is used in the remote controls. As such in order to see in...
I'm not part of the test team, but my strong suspicion is that these are indicators that are triggered by certain events such as when an airbag is deployed so that the exact video frame that the deployment event is triggered is recorded. This allows the engineers to evaluate the state of...
I guess this means the rotating restaurant floor is out.. bummer. it was nice seeing different parts of the city while dining.
Edit, I take that back, apparently rotation is still included according to the article. Phew
Great review. I appreciate you taking the time to investigate this OEM drives performance and comparing it against the competition. these are the things that keep me coming back for more. I have to wonder, why not include the Corsair drives that you've reviewed recently?
It's great to see SSDs keep expanding in size, performance, and dropping in price.
A word of warning, however. There are still compatibility issues being worked out, and these devices may not be as compatible as the controller chip-sets of companies that have been in the HD business for...
I'm using XP, but the USB drivers are sorted. The controller is a renesas uPD720201 and I've updated its firmware and drivers now to the latest

The problem seems to be the J-Micron JMS-539 chips in the USB3-SATA bridges. I've read around...
Posting a status update on this project.
After installing the cards, drivers, etc. all drives were detected. It was possible to write lightscribe labels on all 4 drives at once with SureThing 6 labeler.
However, there appears to be an issue with using the sata/USB 3.0 adapters on the USB...
Nice to know about the data streams, defaultuser. Those USB 3.0 burners are probably sata burners with a USB 3.0 adapter case.
Here's what I ended up with and will be testing with:
5-pack sata drives

Hi there, thanks for your reply. Are you speaking from experience about USB 3.0 working?
One of the interesting things I found out about USB 3.0 is that if you plug multiple usb2.0 devices into a USB 3.0 hub and the hub also connected to a usb 3.0 port, that the usb 2.0 devices will still...
Occasionally I have to do DVD duplication to several disks at once. My quest was for the ability to burn at least 4 discs at once.. lightscribe and data for under $200, externally with only one cable coming from the PC, and have future expansion capability. Commonly available duplicators with...
He starts off sounding reasonable, talking about a few cool technologies and then goes WAY OFF into neverland thinking this will solve world energy problems. Lost me when his eyes got real big saying I--I will BEAM my light-power directly to you from my gleaming glass power tower.... LOL...
I have to imagine that the final design will have vertical support pillars instead of something that looks like a giant comb fell from space.. Why subject your building materials to so much extra stress?
Use the console to remove a bad driver? I know a lot about windows but I have no IDEA how to do that, nor have ever had to. It's an odd thing to bring up in this demo, the preferred recovery method for a bad driver situation would be to select 'Last known good configuration' on boot...

Hi Flecom..
If you guys want to build a dimmable laser or one you can pulse, check out the FlexMod driver. Funny to see laser stuff finally posted on the [H]!
Not impressed. The airflow paths of the Antec P182 are much better, the dust filters are easier to get to, the finish is better, HDD mounting better, AND it's cheaper. The only thing this case has over the P182 is the built-in hot swapping bay, which you can install if you need one.
THIS is the kind of power supply I have been waiting to see built. With modern, high efficiency components available, this performance has been possible for some time, but until now no manufacturer has decided to make the investment into top-of-class design AND components like we see here...
Just got this in a graphics card bundle, do not need. never installed, fresh keycode. Will ship priority mail in a flat rate box. Paypal accepted. $19.80 shipped.
thanks for looking!

I heard the asus P6T had hole for 775 style coolers so the sunbeam core contact may still be in. Only issue is it appears to only have a 3 wire fan.
These coolers will probably get reviewed in the upcoming HasrdOCP roundup, too bad it's so far away!
Hi guys, after looking at all of the named best budget coolers, I'm considering the
Scythe Mugen 2
Xigmatech dark knight
sunbeam core contact
the last one looks to need an i7 mounting adapter.
I haven't found a review comparing them all, any idea which is best?
planned build:
core i7 920 D0...
he'd better change his passwords, wow he posted the number, IPs, user names and passwords all were typed on-screen!
But that WAS cool, it's amazing there was still hardware on the other end that it worked with.
You know, 2x 25gb write once media is available for about $3.80 which isn't bad. Cheaper is always better though and yes the movies are way too expensive.
And I will never ever ever ever write a song about never buying a computer with an i-anything dock. I thought BFG was more about the utility than the marketing... JG.
Thanks, yes specs mean little to many far east capacitor companies, it seems. During the capacitor bust of the early 2000's I'm sure they had decent specs then too, only to fail in 6 months. Good point on the certification. I think I'll measure their ESR and leave them in 6 months and...
Hi, I have read some sites listing OST capacitors as poor, but they continue to be used in many areas. I recently purchased an IN-Win mini-ITX case that had a tiny FSP (Powerman) 120W PSU populated exclusively with OST RLP series capacitors. This will be installed in a 24/7 HTPC rig. Should I...
