One of the problems you may encounter with SATA 1 (150 mb/s) is the hard drive itself. By the time SATA II (300 mb/s) came out ... hard drives had to be jumpered to be compatible with SATA I... by the time SATA III (600 mb/s) hard drives and SSDs came out the jumper block on the hard drive...
I came late to the x99 motherboard ecosystem....
Currently I am using an ASUS x99 Deluxe II mobo, paired with an i7 6850k. This build is a little over a year old, made from used parts and some new parts.
The x99 Deluxe II motherboard, kitted with a TPM 2.0 Module will run Windows 11 Pro well...
If painting Aluminum, I'd research how to do it. As I remember raw aluminum and anodized aluminum have different steps to primer and paint them... and are different than steel. I don't know if an etching primer is needed and such. Maybe automotive Trim paint is needed.... don't know.
1) Thoroughly clean plastics
2) Use an automotive vinyl dye (spray can)... also I've heard Krylon has a plastic paint, but I've no experience with it.
3) use multiple light coats on all surfaces.
It's been since the beige cases of the 90's since I used vinyl dye on a pc case.

What is the screw thread spec for a Corsair Hydro H115i ?
Is it #6-32 x 1-1/4 " screw or M3 x 30mm .... ? The internet is not exactly helpful for me on this right now.
Thinking of adding a fan shroud to the H115i between the 140mm fans and the Radiator. So if the stock screw is #6-32 thread...
I have the 1 TB version of the Samsung 970 EVO Plus.... worth it and worth the size I got it in.
Funny, cause for NVMe m.2 SSDs... I recommend the Samsung 970 EVO Plus or the 970 & 980 Pro SSDs
for 2.5" SATA SSDs the sweet spot I find is the Western Digital Blue SSD with 3D NAND in a 1 TB...
Have you considered using the U.2 Ports for an Enterprise 2.5" SSD ?
Your board is the same as mine and has ports for those. I'm considering it myself somewhere down the road.
The U.2 ports are located beside the SATA Express header on the leading edge of the mobo and if I recall without...
I am considering another m.2 SSD on a PCIe riser card myself. Though the thought of using a 2.5" U.2 NVMe SSD also appeals to me, as my x99 ASUS Deluxe II has ports for that.
I'll keep an eye on this Post for future contemplation... thanks !
