Final Fantasy XIV Official Release Thread

I must say that I'm enjoying the heck out of this game. Sucks that I have to log onto eq2 in 10 minutes for a raid.
 
Wow, had myself logged in.... Put the baby to bed, came back and pc was frozen black screen.... Now of course server is full.... Login macro been running 45 minutes and still nothing.... Sigh

I don't think getting in is required, I just ran through the steps. I wasn't paying attention to the server I joined, there were 2 that were available when I tried.
 
still cant get in, if i could see a queue, even if it was a huge one like back when vanilla wow came out i wouldnt mind

Almost 9 years now. Also played Vanguard, Aion, Rift, and probably 1 or 2 I've forgotten for a couple of months each.
 
Error 1017 since later saturday. Every time I try to login I get the same thing....

Wish GMG would let me get a refund...
 
Been trying to make a damn character to join my friends on Leviathan, I wonder if I'll be paying a monthly subscription without even having a character made. :(
 
Got to play a bit more.... Level 7 now.... I really like it. Slow and steady checking everything out.... How is performance for everyone? I seem able to stay at 60 fps anywhere but the main town.... 2560 x 1440 max settings with significant rig. Town drops into the 20s

Yes and no. If you like FFXI you should give this a try. It's not FFXI. It's not a wow clone either, it's something in between, which is a good thing. FFXI had a LOT of flaws for all of it's glory.

On the other hand, if you hated FFXI, then I probably wouldn't give this a try.
 
Fuck, I don't need another timesink, but I'll try it out. I also like the free month thing.

FFXI was probably the most brutal MMO I've ever played (compounded a thousand times by randomly ending up on Server Zero) this new one seems to take most of the pain and suffering away.
 
Thanks, got the 20% off. Ended up getting the game for $21.

Call me stupid, but I've been looking for like 10 minutes and haven't figured out where to download the client. I know you can download through Capsule from GMG, but I would rather not install that. I just think it's funny how there's no indication of it anywhere on the FFXIV site, or even your account dashboard.

Error 3035. How many characters are we allowed to make? I have an old 1.0 Collector's Edition account without the Legacy perks. I can't even make a character on any server. I can play my old character on a Legacy server it seems. Well I haven't actually tried yet of course. I have 2 Legacy characters if that makes a difference on different servers.

And I can't select Leviathan of course.

Currently, we have stopped allowing the creation of new characters in the following worlds:

Ultros
Behemoth
Cactuar
Diabolos
Gilgamesh
Leviathan
Balmung
Excalibur
Hyperion
Tonberry
Mandragora
Bahamut
Chocobo

At present, login restrictions are gradually being eased, and cases wherein players are unable to login are decreasing.
We will continue to carefully monitor and control the situation so that we may provide you with the best gameplay experience possible.

In the event of any changes in the situation, follow-up news posts will be posted here as well.
 
Wow, this game is pretty good so far. I keep forgetting it's an MMORPG because of the graphics. The map is a little confusing, though. Wish there was a path marker of some sort.

Also, why does it seem like you're only limited to making young-looking characters?

Amazon charged my card overnight but I havent checked my games library there to see if the code is up yet.

Got mine this morning from Greenman. But I'm not registering and wasting my free month when I'm not even allowed to log in. Between Open Beta and Early Access I was able to play maybe 4 hours thanks to the 3102 error and server restrictions. The OB showed them they had issues, you would think for such an important relaunch they would have really made sure their hardware was up to the task. Hopefully they get it together by the weekend. If not hopefully I can sell my code and get something back.
 
and my wife AND all my friends still cant make a toon on levi, now im officially pissed i gave them the benifit of the doubt till launch day... its launch day wtf.

Yeah I've been talking to chocobo porters as kind of an OCD thing, good thing it's paying off. Sort of like talking to the gryphon trainers in WoW.

The problem is Levi and the "Reddit" server are THE most popultaed servers. So theyre are probably going to stay closed for a little bit. They have stated that server transfers should be open in mid September. Whether thats free or if theyll only allow transfer OFF of heavy populated shards I dont know..

this is becoming just difficult to do. Im a leader to one of the FC on levi @ 230 members and rank 5 already with XP and TP buffs. BUT none of my friends can get in :/
 
Managed to stay logged in overnight. Let's see if I will still be there after work lol.

Got my CE code from Square Enix last night and put it on my account with no issues.

Can't wait to make more progress. Hit level 23 last night and got my chocobo. Wanna get to 30 so I can do my job quest.
 
i tried to stay logged in overnight, but my stupid machine rebooted due to windows update, keep forgetting to turn off auto update ugh
 
Thankfully I stayed on all night in an inn room. Hoping itll be good throughout the work day...

What the hell, the game doesn't kick you out for inactivity? If people are doing this it just compounds the problems for everyone.
 
^ It doesn't, I'll have my char logged in all day, and play every hour so.

A burned out of grinding.

Of course people are doing this. Blame the problem, not our fix. Even if they had an "afk" kicker, you don't think I or anyone else would still be using auto it to press "W" every 10 minutes?

I took a whole weekend off and was able to play EA on MONDAY for a few hours. THATS IT. Damn straight Im staying logged in lol...

Shit, half the [H] FC has been logged in for days...
