Final Fantasy XIV Official Release Thread

I already mentioned that above as well. Its funny what happens when a single person misleads something lol. The official forum is all the buzz about it...

Side note: if you finally get logged in, don't log out. Ad I said before they have a STICKY stating server limits will be in place until further notice with no eta as of now...

Honest mistake!

That's generally been my rule, if you're in, unless you get booted or the game crashes, don't log out. That is, if you plan on actually playing that day.

"We have received reports from players who, although they wished to continue playing the game post-launch with characters created either in the original FINAL FANTASY XIV or during the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn beta test, have mistakenly registered their licenses to either the wrong service account, or to a brand new service account.
In order to prevent this from happening to you, please keep the following in mind."

post about this. kinda sucks they dont warn you about this before you create accounts....

hopefully they can fix it.

annnnnnd world is full yet again.

Not gunna lie, I love this game. I dont even mind the waiting cause once you get in you just forget about the aggravation. just button mash the 0 key on the numpad until you get it. Its what i did

edit: i am upset that my wife cant make a toon on levi. I just want to play with her and they are making it impossible. And here is a link for button mashing while you are AFK
http://www.howtogeek.com/97998/how-to-make-your-computer-press-a-key-every-x-seconds/

Probably not going to happen. I tried for past 2 days and even set an alarm for 3 am thinking it might be dead... No go... Moogle, leviathan and the reddit server have been pretty much locked up since early started..

Made a character on siren since that is the only one taking new toons today, still getting server full 1017,
Also got my security token today, guess a little more waiting.

Argh! Stupid game crashes, and now I can't log in because the server is full (1017).

Is it really that hard to have a working queue?

edited to add:

Oh, and could the client go back to the character select screen instead of the start screen?

Retarded. I put in my game code for the CE and it creates another account within the same account. Now I'm stuck waiting in customer support. They better be able to put that key with the pre-order account!

All these problems still, and launch is tomorrow.

This is becoming frustrating beyond measure.

They've got a sticky on this, someone posted it last page. Ive got a 1.0 account and a ps3 code coming.. I'm about 99 percent positive I'm going to ruck it up too lol...

Just logged in with no queue and no errors (and a few others getting the same), first time. Maybe they've lifted restrictions?

If I cant get it switched im quitting and going to dispute this. So retarded, Bah!

Just got home....started up FFXIV client....actually got in queue with 6 peeps ahead of me....not too shabby.....and then...*Blammo* ...bumped out of the queue..LoL - The world is full....hope this goes fast =P

In after 10-12 mins of using the 0 key..lol.

Wow.. I almost preorderd this. Glad I didn't. Seems like just another crisis launch. Getting tired of hearing about these.

Read of a log-in method that is supposed to work if you are getting the 1017 error.

1. Log into or create a character on a lower population server.
2. Log out.
3. Log into the character you want to play.

This is supposed to get you back into the queue, as opposed to seeing the 1017 error.

Doesn't work.

Called Amazon, pre-order cancelled. I'm not playing Mickey Mouse bullshit games to play a dated MMO.

You keep calling it dated, but it is exactly what I wanted in an MMO. I'm sick and tired of the shallow, action-combat MMOs.

I tried to recover my account info, had the reset email sent, and then discovered that I can't reset my password or log into the account without using the security token...

I lost that thing like 3 years ago. I guess I am screwed unless I can contact square, not likely during this high volume time. I can't find a working number to contact support to get the token removed..

I want to try it again without paying, but that god damned collectors edition security token is screwing me over. It's like its making me pay for hating it so much and discarding it.

So basically my pre order was useless. Lose my pre order items, AND lose my character.

Such a fail. UNREAL.

Oh well, back to playing one of the other games I own and enjoy. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

If it was the best mmo out, it wouldn't have needed to be re-released in the first place.

It's not the best mmo out, but it's damn near close. Sure there's log in issues, but overlooking that, there's a real gem behind the issues. Once all these issues are solved, no one will give a shit that they couldn't log in for a few days.

There's no need to jehova us to death.

Haven't been able to login since before the weekend not that I really tried for extended periods of time.

Thanks for the ahk script idea. Got it running now and will leave it while I putz around the house. Let's see how it does.

Weird..my pre order shipped yesterday...

O I see, you've never played the game or even ordered it, just trolling...

Got it ;)

I would be more forgiving if it wasn't for the fact that this game launched already a while ago in such poor shape and got such horrible reviews that it was even taken back into development (instead of calling it a wash) for almost a year plus and now it seems that even after tons of extra time to cook they can't even produce a steady launch (steady MMO launches are now the norm , no more months of connection issues like in the past , no longer acceptable) after so much time to re-engineer and fix the many issues.

How could they not be prepared I mean come on? They knew they had millions of preorders and still here it is. Its not even launch day yet..

I'm a huge FF fan , always have been and always will be but I think we need to come to terms with the fact that SquareEnix hasn't a fucking clue to really handle MMO's.

And if they can fix the launch issues within a small time frame (say a week or so) I might be willing to pick this game up to play it. But I refuse to be a beta tester for a game that already released once. So while we shouldn't feed the trolls .. you can kinda see where people are coming from in terms of the hate with this game.

If this makes me a troll fine. But I'm not. I'm just a disappointed fan in reality.

Worked for me.

I got the 1017 when logging into the new server, switched servers back to my main and it put me in a queue of 19. Just took a minute from there and I was in.

Thanks :)

While this is the first MMO I've ever pre-ordered (well, pre-ordered and paid for. Cancelled a pre-order for TOR) these kind of server issues remind me of other connected or multiplayer titles I've tried to play on release. Can't say I blame people for being angry or not wanting to risk it, but sadly massive server issues are nothing new for the game industry, MMO or otherwise.

Wouldn't the original game being crap and bombing massively naturally cause a company to lower expectations for a relaunch? It doesn't make a ton of sense for them to go "Well the new version of the game will have a gigantic launch due to the piss poor reception of our previous effort".

Actually many recent MMO launches have been quite smooth and these are from smaller companies in general servicing large groups of launch day gamers. Considering SquareEnix had already fucked up one launch and re-did this one it makes it pretty unacceptable not to be prepared for it.

I think the fact that they went back to the drawing board took some balls but the critical reception and user base perception are even more important this time around. I can imagine a large portion of people who bought the first launch version aren't even willing to touch this one with a 10 foot pole. So in order to win people back its absolutely critical that SE tackle this connectivity issue ASAP before people just go for refunds and say "fuck it".

Personally I don't want that. I really do not like F2P MMO's , I find them intrusive and often neutered by content being placed behind an unreasonable pay wall. I want more fully featured MMO's like FF and WoW that come out of the gate overflowing with content versus it only being available to those willing to over spend for microtransations. Saying that you weren't prepared for all the users during your MMO launch is a total cop out now. Its not 2004 , this is not back in the infancy era of MMO's , this shit should have been been ready and able to handle the load. Millions of preorders should have clued them in.

That's not how I understood it. It sounded like you were supposed to actually get in on the new character, not hit a 1017.

What server did you make a character on to get 1017? Every NA server disallows character creations.

I share your dislike of F2P MMOs. TOR F2P kind of pissed me off with all the BS restrictions and I stopped playing it even though I was really enjoying the storyline stuff. From the little time I've had with this game, it seems like it would suffer the same fate as TOR if they tried to go F2P. The actual game portion seems really good and the gameplay is actually fun, something every other MMO I've tried lacks in various ways.

I'm not too mad about the server issues right now. I was too busy last weekend to play much and the duty-finder issue provided some amusing conversation between a group of us that all got glued to the floor in the same quest. I don't even really have time to play during the week due to working 10 hours a day, but I have a four day weekend coming up so if it's not fixed by Friday I will be very unhappy.

The first release was a shitty game. This is a completely new game with the same name. So apples to oranges.

So what's the best MMO out right now?
There isn't one.

Don't feed his shit man...
lol
yeah hes an obvious troll. prolly bitter about that f2p rift shit
I haven't played Rift in 2 years, I think I finished of at R6 and after I had my PVP mount.

Digital download, I know its a crazy wild new concept that hasn't quite caught on in the modern society we live in today, oh wait.

You're right though, I've never owned, nor played this game, ever. at all.

;)
