Similiar to your CPU / GPU progression:
Go to your newegg account, under orders click on order history
From there under Find Orders click on your oldest purchases and POST WHAT YOU GOT!

In June '04, my oldest and first purchase was a 160gb IDE drive from samsung which I had to RMA twice! I now remembered I swore to never buy samsung hard drives! The drive was $114.20!
Sept '04 I bought a Logitech MX700, don't remember what happened to that mouse, I may have slammed it too many times, getting angry while playing CS.
lol, anyways post up your old purchases over the years

Here's mine. I think this may be the first computer I built in full, and it was for someone else.

Wow 2002, when was Newegg created? My first was 11/06/2004:

1 x APEVIA CF12SL-4C 120mm Multi-Color LED Case Fan

1 x SOYO SY-KT880 DRAGON 2 462(A) VIA KT880 ATX AMD Motherboard

1 x Pioneer DVD Burner Black IDE Model DVR-108 - OEM

Amazing how fast the industry moves and top of the line becomes of so little value.

Damn $428 for a p4 3ghz cpu!
I'm just glad I never had enough money to build my rig back then, I built my first one in 2010. But then again 10 years from now the tech should be insane and the prices we pay would be too. :(

oh my.. since 95-97?? I must have spent over $6,000 there. At least wasnt all my equipment. I use to build machines back then.

Still tend to buy locally but my first from Newegg was $61.50 on 12/14/2003
Western Digital Caviar SE WD400JB 40GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Spent about $2,000 there for my build about a month ago. Over-paid for my stuff? Yes sir, but im still happy :D

Damn, $60 for 40GB of 7200RPM? Times have changed for sure....

I cant wait for my $2,000 "investment" to be worth $50

The HDD and DVD burner died on their own years ago. I accidentally broke the laptop last year and broke that external drive 3-4 years ago.

Hmm...

1. For some reason, I remembered having a 9500 Pro... Maybe I just wanted a 9500 Pro back then. That video card only stayed in my computer for 9 months, before being replaced with a Radeon 800XT, which I kept for 2 years. I had intended to keep it longer, buying an AGP/PCI-E hybrid motherboard, but it wasn't compatible... You know, looking this up made me realize: I've had my Radeon 5870 longer than any video card that I have ever owned.

...With the exception of the MediaVision Thunder and Lightning ISA VGA/Sound card (yeah, you head that right. VGA/Sound). That one haunted me for many years... I swear, it was like the grim reaper for anything I tried upgrading to, and I'd always come crawling back to it. It, in turn, made my PC crawl.

2. The Audigy 2 ZS lasted a good long while. I finally gave it the boot with my Asus Xonar STX in 2009. I think that I'm end-of-the-line on sound cards. The Xonar does everything I could possibly want (except multichannel... which I don't currently want)

3. I still have that controller... Sitting in a box somewhere. Since the Xbox 360 came out, with dongles allowing me to use its controllers on the PC, I haven't really bothered with 3rd party controllers (with the exception of my flightstick)

4. The glossy paint on that case started looking like crap before long.

5. $68 for a DVD drive  Ouch.

6. The PSU was a good one.

7. The Deathstar. What you don't see is that I purchased and returned that thing twice. I don't remember what happened to the third one.

I think I purchased a slot A build from there prior to 2003, but it may have been Directron, or ZipZoomFly, or some other vendor. Prior to the slot A Athlon build b4 the one above, I bought locally because there really were not that many places on line to buy from, and my rather limited trust of on line vendors in the late 90's, early 2K's.

Oh, and that cooler was replaced almost immediately. It cooled for shit unless I used a high speed Delta fan. The Delta was so loud I had to buy a set of closed cans to be able to hear my games.
