Workgroup troubleshooting problem in WinXP

I have two computers workgrouped but when I try to access a computer from another one, it asks me for a user/pass which I have no idea what it relates to. The username is also fixed: <windows username>/Guest

Since your using a workgroup, you need the same login ID and password combination set up on both machines and you need to give that ID rights to the share.

under any windows explorer window...
Tools -> Folder Options -> View

And turn off simple file sharing

You may also need to override the filesharing lockouts in XP...just share any folder.
