Hey everyone,

We're doing a bit if upgrading to our wireless infrastructure and I've been asked to look into alternatives to Cisco ACS for MAC filtering. We're running 5508 controllers on newest code, is there anything in the controller code that will do MAC filtering? Back when we moved to v7 on the controllers I thought I remembered reading about an ACS replacement.

Is there anything out there or is ACS still the best for MAC filtering?

You know MAC filtering isn't really security right? I can spoof a MAC all day long on my laptop if I wanted to.

But anyways you should be able to do MAC filtering in WCS.

Yep, I know. But it is one more layer to keep the kids out.

Why aren't you using radius?

Im looking for alternatives too. I'd love to go to 802.1x and just use AD. Unfortunately it is a political mess so I'm stuck with 63 character keys and MAC filtering
