Will Mushkin lvl II PC3500 give me a better overclock/performance than HyperX PC4000?

Currently I have a IC7 MAX3, with a 3.0c, and 2x512 HyperX PC4000 @ CAS3 4-4-8.

Im topping out at about 267FSB, at that FSB I have to lower it to 5:4, and it gets like 5700 in Sisoft. AT 260FSB I can keep it at 1:1, and get about 6100.

Would Mushkin PC3500 lvl II let me keep it at in the 260 range at either 1:1 or 5:4, at 2-2-2?

I cant search, and the browsing the sticky didnt help. If its worth it.. Ill sell this gig of PC4000 and get some of that.

My experience would say to keep what you have.

I went from PC3200 with tighter timings to PC4000 with loose timings and my sandra score went up by 10%.

no way you can get mushkin to 260 1:1 at any timings with stock voltage (can you smell volt mod?)

you have water cooling? thats a really high clock speed, 3.0c's are hot procs.

with my 3.0c i cant get my pc3500 level II to any higher than 230 1:1, but with pretty good timings 2-3-2-6.

Its on a Mach II.

Can you get it around 260fsb at 5:4 with low timings?

i have a SP-94 + a 92mm Tornado, but i cant get my 3.0 to run at 260, it wont even post i dont think :(

but i'm sure the level II can handle it 5:4

and your higher sandra score means you have a higher sandra score.

what about a real world test? 3dmark or superpi? the lower timings (esp. RtC) really do help in the real world.

At 260Mhz with a 5:4 divider the Mushkin will be running at 208Mhz. You should be able to run the Mushkin at 2-2-2-5. However... Mushkin at 208Mhz at 2-2-2-5 will bench in the 5000-5500 range in Sandra. You're better off looking for PC4000+ memory that runs with tighter timings. I have Corsair XMS4000 pro that runs at 260Mhz 1:1 with 2.5-4-3-6 timings.

To be honest, I havent tried to lower the timings. I just assumes it wouldnt do it. I will try later, thanks for the tip.

Best i can get is 262 fsb 1:1 with 3.55 V witch isnt the best for every day!!!

you might get 2.5-3-3-7 but that's it on the hyperX. I've got about every brand. There's nothing wrong with 5:4,

Here's my IS7 rig, 295fsb 2.4c kingston bh-5's 2-2-2-5, I get the same scores about 6.6k-6.7k in sisoft if i switch to my geil pc4200 @ the same slack timings as yours, But i have to run 295fsb 1:1 to keep up with BH5's tight timings.

Dam bh5's getting expensive now and you might not get too much better on your benches or games to justify.

And if your running 260-270 and having to drop to 5:4, then you might as well keep what you have.

With a lot of volts BH-5's will make it in the 250's Which isnt guaranteed either.

I'd say keep what you got.

After reading some reviews, and some other forum post, I think I will keep what I got. There is little change I can get anything better than what I got, until some low latency PC4000 or higher comes out.
