Will a 1.7GHz P4 work with a Dell 4600 Motherboard?

I have a Pentium 4 1.7GHz, 400MHz FSB, and I was wondering if it will work with a Dell 4600 Motherboard, I believe it has the Intel 865PE chipset. I'm thinking no, because I recall the intel website saying that the 400MHz FSB P4's only worked with up to the 845 chipset, but maybe someone could give me some insight? Thanks. Also, I have DDR333 RAM in the Dell motherboard, which is also why I questioned if it would work, thanks.

nevermind, I think there might be something wrong with the dell motherboard, because it booted fine on my other ASUS P4P800 Deluxe motherboard, also with the 865PE chipset.

Dell doesn't usually support the full range of CPUs in a BIOS. That Willamette core P4 probably isn't supported. DIY motherboards pretty much have to support the full range of CPUs but OEM systems don't. I had the same problem trying to install Celerons in certain Dell server and desktop models. They're not supported and won't POST.
