When could we expect a 5890?

Hey guys...I know its SUPER early to be asking this...but I'm just curious what everyones predictions are for a 5890. A single GPU card would be my best bet for 2560x1600, and the 5870 is powerful...but I'm looking for a bit more at such a high res and a single GPU.

I would guess 6 - 9 months from the September 5870 release. So March the earliest to June no later. And I wouldn't expect more than a 25% performance upgrade at most, it will just be a refresh.

The biggest release coming up is the 5870X2 with 4gb, I am drooling for that

There are a bunch of rumors right now coming from AMD's recent OpenCL driver release. Apparently the driver mentions two 5900 series cards and no mention of a "X2" or 5890 model. Most people are speculating that the AMD will drop the X2 moniker meaning the 5870x2=5900 series. I would say that leaves the second card listing in the 59xx series as a 5870 refresh, a 5870x2 with more RAM, or a 5850x2.

Of course its all speculation though...

I'd say your definitely right about the 6-9 month minimum guess.

Definitely, 5890 will arrive when the green camp releases Fermi.

I really hope we don't have to wait for the Nvidia offering to see the X2 or whatever it will be called. I'm hoping it will be released before Christmas, around Thanksgiving would be perfect. If not I'll spring for a 5870, or 2.
