I have those 2 systems in mind. Both price are in canadian money. Its mostly an ''office'' laptop with some light/medium gaming abilities

1- 1449$
Processor Class: Core i7
Processor Type: Quad-Core
Processor Speed: 1.6GHz
Processor Number: 720QM
Processor FSB: 1333MHz
Processor Cache: 6MB
GPU/VPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 230M
Screen Size: 17.3"
Maximum Resolution: 1600 x 900
Memory Type: DDR3
Memory Size: 6GB

2- 1099$
Intel® Core™2 Duo processor P7450 (2.13GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache)
Standard Memory: 2GB + 2GB DDR3 (1066 MHz)
16-inch screen
Native LCD Panel Resolution: 1366x768
nVidia GeForce GT 230M

or if anyone has another idea im game!

Option one. Larger screen and better resolution for ease of work (and better gaming). The better specs will help it hold up over time. You've got an i7 quad-core and 6GB of memory. It'll be good to go for a long time.

For gaming I'd choose Option 1. For just everyday basic computer use Option 2.

For gaming I would suggest a better video card...but if you're sure your light/medium gaming will be ok with the 230m and your demands wouldn't change then definitly go for option number 1 with the i7 cpu.

BTW what max. budget are you working with? And are you limiting yourself to strictly anything 16" and above or can you handle a screen in the 15.6" range?

oh ... between 15 and 16 inch would be good. I was a ''portable'' laptop.

I found an asus G51J for a good price. 1600$

or this one an asus n61vn 1300$

the g51 got a ''toy'' looks and the n61 is way more discreet.

i could not imagine walking around with a 17" notebook in my bag.....

sooooo heavy

That G51J is a much better performer as far as gaming goes. The new i7 720QM is much better than previous quads (except for the original i7 920) and the 260m is a better GPU than the 240m. In fact the 260m seems to becoming the GPU standard in gaming laptops lately. I'm seeing more and more models with the 260m in gaming laptops. If money isnt a concern then a i7 720QM and a 260m GPU is the way to go. Just my opinion anyway. :)

Edit: Btw, if you want to see how well games look and run on the G51J just go to youtube and do a search for it. People have vids uploaded about it.

The G51J, being a 15.6", is more easily portable than the larger 16"-18" gaming notebooks. Is it as portable as a small 12"-14" business notebook? No, but thats not its purpose either. It's a gaming notebook.
