Hey All, I've picked up an Antec Fusion 430 HTPC case, and I'm wondering what is the largest size video card that would fit in it?

I've been thinking maybe an ATI Radeon 3850 or Nvidia 8600GT.

Anyone else who has this case, what video card have you been able to fit in it?

I can say that the 7900GTO fits in it. I temporarily jammed that in there recently, and it's a pretty big card.

Hmm, good to know. I'm thinking the 3850 is too big, which sux because it is an awesome card.

I've got the NSK2400 case.. same case design inside I believe. I've got a 8600GT in mine with plenty of room to spare.

As long as you use a video card that doesn't have a length longer than the mATX motherboard, or a piece that sticks up too high, you're good.

it will fit every reference design card. the only thing you need to worry is with some of the specialized coolers. most silent coolers dont fit and the cooler on mine rubs the vents.

just to let you know the 8800gts don't have as good HD decoding as the 8600gts and 8500gts.

After looking at many video cards and weighing the price/performance and most importantly, the size; I've decided to try an 8800 GTS. NCIX has a pretty good deal on an EVGA right now...should be able to squeeze it in there :)

I thinks this card no fix in the case, so large, high power and so hot..

The best choice is 8600gts..
This msi look great...

The new 8800GTS has the exact same Purevideo 2 engine that the 8500/8600/8800GT has; the new 8800GTS is simply a faster 8800GT.

Yeah, but the 8800GTS he linked on NCIX looked like the old 320 MB version. You are probably talking about the newer G92 512MB version.

According to Anandtech:

8800 Ultra > 8800 GTS 512 > 8800 GTX > 8800 GT > 8800 GTS 640 > 8800 GTS 320

ATI Radeon 3850 fits with no problems

That's good to hear. My brother just got a 3870, so I was going to order the Fusion and see if his fit before doing anything.

Mine is mostly going to be for HTPC duty, but I might game occasionally. I wanted to be sure I wasn't shooting myself in the foot by going with the mATX case if I wanted a decent video card for anything besides watching HD content. I hadn't heard great things about the 8600GT for playing games.

hello Everyone..

my first post here..

I've really wanted to build a HTPC using the fusion 430.. my friend has one and it’s amazing... quiet, pretty..

The only thing is that I want to make it powerful enough to play some games at good settings as well as doing demanding Photoshop and architectural modeling / renderings.
& also be able to upgrade in the future

I've pretty much chosen the Gigabyte G33M-DS2R.. the main question I have is about which video card.

at first you said you wanted to use an 8800GTS, but then changed to a Radeon 3850. I read that a Radeon HD 3870 has the exact same size. echn111 said the 3850 works so the regular HD 3870 should be fine... The question is.. what about the new HD 3870 X2? It's supposed to be the same size as an 8800GTX ultra... but that’s only an inch and a half longer than the regular HD 3870.

So... does anyone know if the HD 3870 X2 will fit? Can the case be modified at all to make something this big fit?

Also... what about cooling? I saw someone put a coolmaster GeminII in a fusion 430 but they didn't have an extra video card. any suggestions from someone who knows this case?

Thanks

edit: I forget to mention power... I should probably upgrade to at least a 550w power supply... anyone got a good recommendation for something high quality / quiet for this case?

dude just get a 9600gt like i did check the front page for performance reviews, i have two 3870's in crossfire they run really hot. You don't want a card that hot in your htpc. the 9600gt beats a single 3870 anyway...

I've got a 9600GT in my NSK-2480 and it fit just fine and runs fairly cool for the stock cooler. It does great for BD/HD DVD and games.
