This Sunday (1-04-04) to Office max has 120gb Western digital hard drives with 8mb cache for $129.99 - $50 mfr's MIR - $20 OfficeMax rebates = 59.99 + tax. Offer ends on 1-10-04.

This looks like only in store and not online. Here is a link to my local OfficeMax store's catalog showing the hard drive

$60 is a good deal for 120gb but $30 + tax is even better. On 2 previous occasions I did the same deal and brought them in this printable staples coupon for $30 off of $150 purchase. So if you buy $20 worth of FAR items and ask them to honor the staples coupon you can get this drive for $30 + tax - MIR.

The only thing is the only Staples coupon I could find is expired. It expired 12/12/03 and last time I used it, it was on 12/12/03. They did not notice it and easily took off $30 from the total. I looked for a long time and could not find a staples coupon that was not expired. Maybe someone could Photoshop it or maybe people could just try to use it as is. The cashier at office max does not scan it in or anything. If someone finds a link to one that is not expired please post it.

YMMV on the $30 off of $150 purchase but it worked for me 2 times in the past. Even $60 is not a horrible deal.

Maybe not...

Well I'm 100% sure that someone could lol, but I'm guessing some people might have a problem with the ethics of that. I could care less about using a coupon that the date was changed but that’s just me:).

If you are going to use a photoshoped coupon (stealing technically) at least have the sense to pay cash only.

since on the coupon it has cashier instructions for them to type or scan the number in... even if you changed the date, there would still be an error when they typed in the number..

if its a staples coupon no, i work at OM and our cashiers just put in a generic coupon number for the value listed on the competitors coupon.

Yeah, the OM registers don't know the staples coupon code or number:). Last time I tried it the cashier called over the manager and she tried to scan it in not realizing it was a staples coupon. After 3 tries the cashier told the manager it was not an office max coupon, so the manager just told her to put in a generic coupon code. Lucky it can't be scanned in because it was 3 days expired when I used it.

Yeah I know someone that did that. Worked fine for him. I'd never do that just to save a couple bucks - but hey - whatever floats your boat. Even for $60 this is a damn good deal. I'll be picking mine up tomorrow :) That will give me a total of 560GB. I have no idea what I'm going to do with all of that.

lots and lots of porn:)

didnt work for me, guy got out of the staples coupon on a technicality, cannot be combined with any other deal.

I saw the same 120GB WD for $60 deal in an add for circuit city today (Jan 4). It's mail-in rebates but that's still a good price. Dunno if that helps anyone, but just thought I'd let ya know.

the officemax deal is a drive without the 8MB cache, look at the warrenty its only 1 year, the HDs with the 8MB cache have a 3 year.

But I'll see whenever mine gets here...

The model number listed on the Office Max website lists it as WD1200JBRTL and as far as I know the JB drives are the ones WITH the 8MB caches. I ordered mine today with the FAR 100 pack of Imation CDRs and it allowed me to use the 30 off 150 coupon on the website so I'll end up paying 30 plus tax on 155 for both the drive and 100 cdrs.

They stopped making "special editions" that have the 3 year but they still make some drives with an 8mb cache
