It looks like the proc goes for about $210 or so and a somewhat decent board is $150'ish+ so you are really paying about $40 for the warranty, out of band management, ram and power supply.

Some things to keep in mind with this system:

-If you want to use your own SATA hard drive you will need special caddy's that cost about $20+ each.
-This comes with the E1220 processor which does not support HyperThreading. You'd have to get to the E1230 before that is available.

Good points.

I think the E1220 is similar to the i5-2400/2500.

The other cool thing is that this proc supports ECC & vt-d (for device passthrough to VM guests). ANyone know if the motherboard chipset supports vt-d as well?
