So I am at a tough point with my home setup. I have a desktop that is a G3258, 8gb ram,r9 290.
I am thinking about getting rid of the desktop for a used w520 thinkpad. I can get a fairly good deal on one about 300 all said and done.
My main use scenarios are web browsing,movies,visual studio,ollydbg,office, guildwars 2 and killing floor 2. I just don't know if it would be worth buying into such an old architecture although the quad core W520 should be about equivalent to my desktop cpu speed wise.
So my question really is the w520 still worth purchasing with mainly c++ development in a microsoft based stack? If not what are some other alternatives that are pretty cheap?
